Went into the garage to grab tools to work on the house.

Started finishing the tear out of the old sub floor in this half. IMG_4415.jpegIMG_4417.jpeg

Instead of trying to do the whole thing at once, I did it in 2 pieces. IMG_4420.jpeg

Everything was going swimmingly, until THIS piece. It was the last one and the worst one. IMG_4422.jpeg

But eventually got everything tore out and loaded into the truck. Made a dump run. 900 pounds. HOW?!?IMG_4421.jpeg

Got the OSB laid down just to cover the hole for tonight. Hoping it keeps the critters out. More tomorrow. IMG_4423.jpeg

Tomorrow is ductwork ripped out and replaced, clean up of the joists, and this slim OSB cut to size to fit below the joists to create enclosed spaces for some insulation to fit. Hopefully this helps this winter to keep it warm.

After the adventech flooring is laid permanently, I can build walls again.

One thing at a time.

Just trying to get it set up moved here 6 months ago and it's just now starting to resemble a usable shop. The video game and foosball table are from the previous owner he is yet to come get them

The throttle lever on the tractor had way too much tension, and it's double-nutted so you need to get two wrenches in there to make the adjustment. The correct way to adjust it is to lift the hood, remove six bolts on the backside of the dashboard, remove the steering wheel with a puller, and remove the dashboard.

My solution (borrowed the idea from a FB group) was to drill a 7/8" hole, loosen the outer nut with a socket while holding the inner nut with a wrench from the slot above, then adjust and re-tighten. I had a bunch of electrical knockout seals and the plastic ones look decent enough. Might hit it with a little charcoal gray paint tomorrow to match better, but I can live with it as-is.

The daughters 2005 Suburban. I was getting cam sensor errors. Ran bad and started hard. I was reaching behind the intake manifold at the rear of the engine and something didn't feel right. So off comes the intake manifold. Looks like some critter chewed the cam sensor wires in half. She did say they saw a rat hanging around the vehicles.
Destructive little bastards.

Outside: used up the weed eater line; went and got more (now I'll find the line I have...) wound it up full, used that up, then stopped for a shower and dentist appt. (cavity in a crowned and root canaled tooth - not good.

But I did get almost all the weeds down (4th is coming fast...)

I have had enough of the dirty floor after cleaning, waxing and servicing my John Deere X590 and 2305 along with the Dodge Ram and Equinox get the service so some attention turned to the floor and using some Harbor Freight soap degreaser and 5 gallons of water the floor was scrubbed. Turned the shop fan on the floor is acceptable and the wife walks in and asked what happen to the water jugs she had out for the dogs and I said I used it on the floor. She takes the gallon jugs back into the house and refills them.

So I had a question that popped up by my brother today as why I spent so time cleaning my shop. I told him I always had the habit even when I was a vehicle mechanic in the Air Force and dealership from 1977 to 1987 that I always clean up the bays I was assigned to as I know is a dirty job but at least I always clean up the work area after I completed a vehicle and before I bring in the next vehicle. I had one manager try to write me up in the dealership for wasting 15 minutes cleaning the area and since I was heavy line I showed the owner of the dealership my work area as it shined and was kept clean by me the owner simply ripped up the write up and told the manager to stop bothering him over something that every mechanic should be doing. My worst problem was always the other sloppy mechanics would try to put vehicles in my bays and I kick them out.

We were invited over to our new neighbours for a backyard bbq. He has 2 boys one in university, the other finishing up grade 12. The younger fellow had his Industrial Arts project proudly displayed in their garage. Nice collapsible Adironrack with a matching table.
He did a pretty good job but hadn’t oiled/stained it yet. When he said he wanted to see the grain so wouldn’t be painting it, I was impressed. I texted him today and said I was working on a project if he/they wanted to come over to help they were welcome. So they pop over and the project was fairly simple. Make a treated 2x8 PT wood frame to go around an irrigation box to recess into a concrete driveway at the lake.
Before I knew it the slider saw was set up to make some 45 degree cuts and screwed together and everything put away. Then we had a coke and they went home with some natural oil stain to do his project.
If it had been me I would have simply did straight cuts, I was impressed with him doing the 45s, even after saying he didn’t have to.

Love the space! There's so much potential here. What are your plans for the garage?

Garage is still in the building stages, but managed to replace all shocks and struts on my spouses car. Managed to get past the inevitable broken bolt that adds hours onto a job without too much drama too.
How?!!
I have a broken bolt head on the lower part. Apparently gen 1 crvs were not greased between the bolt and lower shock. 😐
Common issue. Uncommon solution.

It is my wish that the flea's of a thousand camels, infest the crotch area of the GM engineer that thought knock sensors, should be located under the intake manifold on some LS engines...20240623_083854.jpg
Nissan did the same with the engines in the Quest/Villager vans (probably others too) and you know what? its NEVER the knock sensor... (sensors lie and get confused)

A small amount of hydrogen bubbles are produced on the cathode (-) side, due to electrolysis... (Smoking can kill you)...

Keep it in the open and its not an issue (same deal occurs with de-rusting electrolysis) H is lighter that air so just dissipates. enclosed areas not so good...

DON'T get cute and start popping the bubbles with ignition sources though - unless you want to potentially wear the stuff bubbling ...

Played with adding some .5" spacers to the rear. They tuck under a bit too much. I like the fitment, but I'm gonna need longer studs to actually mount them.

So keep adding up the bill or get the wheels I've been wanting.... that are currently on marketplace.....
