I am looking at some bar grating on craigslist. I’d like to use it for decking.

It will be supported on 24” centers. I’ll be putting it on 4” wide H-beams.

Before I call the engineer ($), does anyone have a feel for the spans allowed for this stuff?

Am I in the ballpark with 2’ spans?

The span calculators I found online require more than I’m able to give.

Speculation, guesses, or opinions welcome.

Thanks

Yeah. It’s an odd duck..deck. Sort of a retro industrial decorating scheme. And mostly to avoid putting a fuel source next to the cabin.

I’ll have something more walkable on the top for the space people will use.

On a sunny summer day, you can grill burgers on that LOL. I'd personally have no problem installing that on 2' centers regardless of what Ryerson says (and I'm not going to bother to look). My floor is on 2' spaced trusses and I'm sure that's 5X stronger than whatever plywood I have.
