Sensor not working on Stanley

I have a Stanley 7200.50 with no sensors. I purchased the Digi-Code-Universal Sensors CR2149 which is supposed to be compatible with Stanley. The sensor is not working. Here is what I did:
1- Removed existing wire from motorhead to the garage door button.
2- Ran a wire from the sender unit to the motorhead. I see a solid red light on the unit.
3- Ran a wire from the receiver unit to the motorhead. No light.
4- I made sure both units are aligned and tested but the sensor didn’t work.

I also tried a different setup. I wired the sender to the receiver and then wired the receiver to the motorhead with no luck. To make sure the sensor is not faulty, I got another one with the same results.

In my experience sensors are fed by multi conductor cable not just a wire. Are you certain that you are using the correct components and the are connected in full accordance with the instructions?
If all is well and you have faithfully followed the instructions, it is now time to get some professional help. Your dealer should be able to direct you to Technical Support.

I think when it says it is compatible with Stanley that means it is compatible with Stanley openers that were equipped with sensors to begin with ? Do you have the instructions for your opener ? Does it say that you can add sensors ?

I did a little searching and could not find a manual online. I have a feeling that your opener is probably not designed to be used with sensors. Its probably very similar to my 30 year old Sears one. It strictly uses a pressure sensor to reverse it if it hits something. If you have a decent local garage door company maybe you could see if they know for sure.

I agree with the folks above. That unit certainly is not designed to use beam sensors at all. It's pre-UL 325.
