Add dye to IPA or Acetone for identification

For the record, we label and inventory everything, along with frequent internal and FAA audits, SOP's, etc, etc, etc...

Does anyone have knowledge on adding a dye of some form to IPA or Acetone for visual identification purposes?

We use 55gal drums of isopropyl and acetone at work and transfer them to smaller containers for daily use.
Both liquids are clear, I'd like a way to visually identify them, and without having to smell them.

The problem is we've run into cross-contamination issues recently, with people mixing them and/or putting them into the wrong containers.
I'm in the process of getting different color storage cans to help distinguish them, but I also want to explore adding a dye for further visual identification.

This will be used in the aviation industry, and it cannot contaminate, react with or otherwise alter the IPA or acetone, and it has to be safe to use on materials used on aircraft. It also would have to pass an inspection/approval process before being used.

I want to know what the options are before I bring it up with our safety guy. If this was an "at home" thing, I would just food coloring.

I'd ask the chemical supplier for a product. I bet you aren't the first one to want this

A visuao identifier is not sufficient. Anything in an unlabeled bottle should be discarded or put aside for testing.

Color would only help someone make a quick assumption, which need to be validated by labeling

I'm sure there's a similar thing in US that should be followed, especially with employees ?

Chemicals used in commercial/industrial areas should be clearly identified with common name and safety/warning labels.

I'm sure there's a similar thing in US that should be followed, especially with employees ?

Similar concept in the United States, they call it SDS or MSDS.

we have MSDS sheets too, Material Saftey Data Sheets , but thats the product. WHIMIS has to do with handling , dispensing & storage

Probably would look at using a triarylmethane dye or similar.

Methyl violet 10B is used for alcohol in labs. Just would have concerns about the risk of staining I suppose.

I see OSHA more or less uses the GHS (Globally Harmonized System of Classification and Labeling of Chemicals) as a guide for their own rules and OSHA's Hazard Communication standard (HCS).

We also have company policy documents for those things. But again, all of this is off topic for my original question.
