If I had that set, I wouldn't be sitting here at the computer drooling on the keyboard. I'd be outside using my tools making my wife wonder why it was so quiet in the house. She'd be relieved that no one was trying to usher her upstairs while the kids were out of the house. HEY!!! I think I stumbled on a way to get my wife to let me spend 9 grand on tools. Ya know. If I had that set, I wouldn't need another tool for 2 maybe 3 weeks.

not sure if its a good deal or not but it would be pretty funny seeing the delivery guys face when you have all that shipped to your house. I think you'd be his only stop for that run ;).

That set should be advertised as "So you just got robbed huh?" Why else would you go from almost zero hand tools to pretty much every hand tool Craftsman makes. Looks pretty sweet though. It'd take a week to unwrap and organize that.

Seems like there is a bunch of stuff in there that i would not want, but it would be fun to unwrap all that ****, and you would need a new rollaway to go with it.

Blue dog,

It looks like a roll cab and top chest comes with the package.

I thought so too, however it doesn't say anywhere that it does in the product description or bundle packages down below

I looked in the catalog from last year and this year, no box included but an option for a discount. And there is a $500.00 increase this year according to the catalog.

i wouldn't spend all that money on Cman stuff. Don't get me wrong, its decent stuff but you'll sink 8k-10k into Cman and then realize you'd rather have better stuff but now your stuf with all that junk.

+1

yea, for 8k-10k, one could piece-meal a real nice set of some very fine tools... paying attention to sales, closeouts, clearances, etc... mix of good american/euro and some asian.

My father bought that 1,200 or 1,300 piece set - it comes in three boxes, one with the tools and one each for the top and bottom chests - the tools are grouped in plastic bags not the holders like you see in the store so they take up considerably less space.

I think these sets are a good deal - he wanted a duplicate set of tools that he could keep in the shed with his tractors and this was by far the quickest and easiest way to accomplish that - however, as I have noticed and he has said himself, there are probably a good 60-70% of stuff there that will never get used.

X2 if your tools were stolen this is a quick easy way to get everthing you need with the insurance money. thats how I would do it.

$8k roughly for the tools?

Sounds way high to me. Even if it's not half hex l-wrenches, I'd rather take the money and just have a buying spree on eBay for sockets and wrenches. Pliers, screwdrivers, nut drivers, bits, etc. I'd just go European on Amazon or Chad's.

I admit that if I were Japanese/metric oriented, I'd think about starting with that master set of Nepros that's $1350. Pretty exotic stuff and not shockingly expensive, but your money would still go further just buying Snap-on on ebay.

kinda what i was thinking too. seem to be a lot of stuff there i'd never use, i think i'd rather piece together a set of what i wanted, rather than what CM wanted to give me.

Sears duplicates so many tools in those sets. You get both 6 & 12 point sockets in the smaller drive sizes. All of the loose allen wrenches and drive bits.
I had rather start with a smaller C-man set and piece the rest together myself. You get what you want and really need.

Better than paying out the *** for SO lol.

????. Dunno about that.

Eight thousand five hunert dollars.

Lemme look on eBay completed listings for a sec:

$80 - 11 piece 3/8" deep socket set
$150 - 25 piece 1/4" socket set
$130 - 13 piece torx socket set
$140 - 9 piece double box wrench set
$80 - newer Snap On screwdriver set
etc. etc. so let's say $120 per set of stuff generally.

You could buy 70 sets of Snap on wrenches/pliers/sockets/screwdrivers/etc.

I'd rather get the master set from SO instead of piece mealing it though.

If your buying tools you have three choices
Choice 1- Buy Snap on Stahlwille etc. High quality but more expensive
Choice 2- Buy middle tier tools, reasonable quality gets the job done, enough value for $
Choice 3- Buy ****, you'll have alot of gear but alot of breakages of tools, poor quality etc

personally I sit at around choice too but buy Snap On and stahlwille occasionaly when there is a good deal, and i also buy a little bit of cheap **** as long as the cheap tool is decent and wont break, for example jumbo spanners, as long as the cheap chinese ones are cast right theyll go for years

for me, there'd still be a lot of unused/unwanted tools in SO's master set.

thers a reason why i have tools from a lot of different manufacturers, some fit particular jobs better than others. some have better features, or hold up better, or a better value for the price.

but to each his own.

I like complete sets of sockets and wrenches, with this exception: I see NO need of having smaller sockets like 3/8" or 7/16" in 1/2" drive, or 15/16" or smaller in 3/4" drive, but other than that, I just like the look of having a complete set, even though I have some sets with sockets, or wrenches that probably have never been used, I know I do in my 3/4" inch drive set.
