I'm sure this is a love it/hate it kind of tool..... but I love spinner handles. For some reason, they make me smile when I need one. I think some of the MAC 3/8" ones photo-bombed one of the photos below.

I have one of the last USA-made SK 1/4" spinner handles, but solvents have started to eat away at the handle. SK still makes this one, but not USA..... not that I'm a USA only guy. I have one from Wright on the way. I've seen Williams. What else is out there? Anything fun from the European folks?

Thanks,

-Ryan

I bought one of these from Cripe because of the price and the 1/4" female drive end and, even though I had pretty low expectations, have to admit that I like it. I also have a couple of 30ish year old Craftsmans, one with the standard (3"??) shaft and another with the shaft about half as long, both with the 1/4" drive end on the handle.

If you ever want to make your own, you can just use a 1/4" drive extension and make a handle for it. With some texture applied to the extension under the grip and a good epoxy, it won't ever come loose in use. I recommend a nice piece of figured walnut and an oiled finish.

Groovy European 😂

Groovy Japanese 😉

I've got the Koken one on my list of wanted items. Some day I'll pull the trigger.

This little guy is always close by. Had it forever, can't remember where it came from.
No clue who the Taiwan maker was but the hearty grip and square drive on the handle make it a winner for me.

I have the Koken, both in 3/8 and 1/4.I highly recommend them and use them all the time.I'm a home gamer,so my only concern for you pro's is what chemicals will do to the handle.I got mine off the Palmac site. Before these I used an Allen brand with the 1/4 recess with a breaker bar or sliding tee handle.Another option for me is my Stahwille ratcheting screwdriver with a Felo 1/4 adapter from KTC.Its nice to have options ,thats for sure

If by gamer you mean computers, check out the LTT, it's really nice and probably has one of the lowest backdrags. Backdrags I think I own one from Canada that might have lower. Don't remember the name without looking it up.

Mine is just press fit, I don't think I could ever put enough torque on it to make it spin.

Thanks, gang!

I'll check some of these out. Probably will just try to buy a few. I love using these. I usually have a stubby LP90 flex-head in the back if I need some oomph. Spinner handles are just great for feeling out the condition of threads when running fasteners in old equipment/cars.

Personally, I only get the ones with a square drive pass through, they are just so much more useful than the ones that only have the male drive. Like CallumRD1 said, you can make your own with a straight shank extension (see my photo above).

If you don't need a pass through extension, Nepros makes some nice models (NBD12, NBD12, NBD12SS), Koken has a folding as well as regular model (2769H, 2769F), and Vessel has some wood compo handles included in their 1/4" sets.

Looking on the web, Heyco makes a really pretty one (25-08) that I now want to buy.

Stahlwille, Hazet, Gedore, Elora, Beta, Facom, etc. all make them too, some offering more than one style or length. I think Stahlwille has a quick release model and Facom has a flex shaft.

I don't have one, but always thought the Williams one looked cool.

A person could always spend more money I guess...plus get some sort of locking gizmo.

I've got plenty of hex handles + hex-to-square, so there's really no need for any more.

Hey, I wonder if there's a 9/32" drive spinner?

There's Proto and Snap on.

Koken in wobble is nice, but no female end on the handle :(

My most used one though is a grey pneumatic impacting 1/4 wobble.

will note I have one Proto that seems to have some pretty sharp edges from the molding.

I've had a mess of them in my hands over the last few years- some are better than others.
Indestro's 2873 is too skinny for my hands, to be honest. No bolster at back end.

I had a Craftsman with a bolster, but it was nothing to write home about.

Two that really UNimpressed with were the "Tekton" model that came in my SKT05301 (too skinny, although it does have the bolster) and the EASCO 71-1107 (WAY too damn skinny)

Stevens-Walden 3118 is a nice diameter and they came in pretty colors. SOME have bolsters.

New Britain's NM64 (see @Beerhippie's above) are a NICE size but damn near impossible to find.

The Herbrand units are ridiculously fat and they're ugly.

Honestly can't think of any that I am really enamored with - might have something to do with having gigantic hands. I'm more prone to grabbing a little Proto breaker - has a pretty stout knurled handle.

I kind of like the way that Williams unit looks in @username2 's post above.

This thread makes me wonder..... does Vessel make a "ball grip" spinner? If so, I want one.

I need to dig mine out, but Granddad gave me a Challenger pretty early on that doubles as an extension. Before I returned it to 100% SK, my SAE 1/4 socket set always had it in the box.

Still looking for a spinner handle in 3/8" dr. (they do exist), but, then, I'm so used to using a 3/8" dr. breaker bar as a spinner I might just never use a real spinner.

Interesting that Craftsman (above) calls theirs a "1/4" extension".

Those Macs I put the pictures up of are 3/8" I think.

Also...Hazet.

I figure that the real test of Google skillz might be the 1/2" spinner handle.

aaah, here we go...(my own variant of all this is to use a Wera hex handle with a variety of hex->whatever adapters. No female end in the handle, but you can put in any old length or square drive size).

I bought one of these from Amazon for $15 back in 2020. Haven't had it long enough to have been able to use it though. Amazon shows it no longer in stock...

I think they all call them extensions if it has a female drive end.

I have the Williams 31016 with the Irazola Tekno+ handle. No pass-through, but the handle is quite substantial and would be nice with bit sockets or as a nut driver. Unfortunately, I hardly use 3/8", so it mostly just sits in a drawer.

Besides the Hazet, MAC, etc. already mentioned, there's Bahco 7757 (old Belzer model) with a hard handle and Teng M380015-C with a psuedo-ball grip.

If you go vintage, there is also Snap-On F-10-H6 which is a short breaker/flex handle with female drive in the end of the handle.

Here's the Koken mit der female end.
thanks.
ordered. $18.91 w/ free shipping.
I'll give it a shot. looks like a decent handle - similar to the PROTO 4769 model - one of the few I liked, but it's in a kit I'm selling.

(like I really need to buy more tools... what am I thinking?) o_O:rolleyes::unsure:

Should find one somewhere.
Maybe Snap On your side of the pond. Had or seen Britool, King **** and Athol over this side.
Don't think I still have one.
toptul, blue point, jtc
have use blue point only, handle grip feels better
Use my Blue point regularly, the grip is very good.

9/32" drive spinner? Sure! Comin' right up! VIDEO

(My memory on this one is fuzzy, but I seem to recall either twertsy or Lugz telling me they believed this had actually been manufactured by Milwaukee Tool & Forge.)

For something I really don’t use all that often I have at least 4 in my tool chest at work. For machine screw sizes I definitely prefer the one piece construction of a hollow shaft nut driver.
IMG_3804.jpeg

Here’s the last thing I used one for, a 3/8” 8pt socket.
IMG_3805.jpeg

The only 3/8” spinner I have is this SK I picked up earlier this year.

I have the USA Williams; I don't care for the grip. I also have a Wera - I like it but the shaft is overly long. I'd like the Snap On, but not spending $50+ on it. I ended up mostly using a Wiha locking hex bit driver with a 1/4 square adapter - with the design, the adapter doesn't wobble. And it's short.
