Anybody know anything about pressure washers

Went to use my pressure washer, hooked up the water hose to it, started on the second pull but o water would come out. Shut it down and verified that water was on. Observed that no water was coming out the wand when in the past water would come out the wand but not at pressure. So I removed the outlet hose from the pressure washer and turned on the water again and I didn’t have any water coming out of the outlet pipe.

So somehow the thing is clogged. I’m thinking that possibly the water hose might have had some trash in it because I didn’t flush the hose before it connected it to the pressure washer. Anyone have any suggestions as to what I should do?

Check the inlet to the pump. There’s probably a screen that’s clogged.

Possibly airbound. Mine takes a while to purge the air in the pump.

Something is messed up in your pump. Dirt or something clogging it. Water should flow freely through

Open it up. You should be able to see something wrong.

You could use an air compressor to blow back thru the pressure side to see if something comes out. But if it was stored for awhile without cleaning out the water or using pump saver, there is a good chance the valves are stuck or the unloader. At that point it would need to be disassembled and cleaned up.

Good idea about using compressed air. I tried to connect the water hose to the pressure side but the fittings are not the same. If this doesn‘t work I’m in trouble because I don’t know anything about these things.

I had a bear of a time when I had my Troy Bilt, worked great for one year and progressively got worse each year after. And new pumps cost almost as much as a new unit.
Have since gone with Simpson/Honda GX pressure washers. You pay a bit more but get a much better-quality product that is easier to maintain and will last a hell of a lot longer.

Sounds like either a blockage or something is corroded and not opening within the pump itself. Might try a few solid whacks with a rubber mallet on the pump body if all else fails. I have a airless paint pump that has failed to pick up paint and it was a large steel ball with a heavy spring was stuck just inside the pickup tube. Just needed to be disassembled and cleaned. Not sure what pump you have on that but there may be a similar check valve of some sort after the water inlet.

Also make sure there in no kink in your supply hose...

I’ve tried the rebuild pump kits before with no love. A replacement pump is almost as much $$ as just purchasing a new complete unit. It’s very important to prep these units for prolonged storage. Filling the pump with RV coolant before storing is a recommended practice.

Chicanic advises to not run them (long) with the nozzle closed. Hard on the pumps. Cavitation damage maybe?
