You’re making me miss home. 36 years in Florida, and the thing I miss most is my sleds. Yes, I miss my “aa da cat” and my Polaris more than I miss family..lol

For non massholes, the word “aa da cat” translated into English, is Arctic Cat, and sled means snow mobile. They’re wicked pissa kid.:badteeth:
I've lived in the northeast too long. I didn't need the quotes or the spaces.

Finishing up a Halloween prop - based on some designs I found online, a “Monster in a Box” (we went with Dragon in a Box). Runs on an Arduino Uno (probably could have used a Nano but didn’t have an extra around).

It plays a sleeping/growling dragon soundtrack through a large bookshelf speaker while idle but when a motion sensor detects trick or treaters it blasts a dragon roaring soundtrack, rattles the box lid with a windshield wiper motor, shoots some fog from inside and flashes some lights.

We’ll see how it goes once out in the wild. I’m not very knowledgeable about coding so AI did most of that for me but we’ve done quite a bit of testing and it should work ok. Maybe V2.0 will be better next year and I’ll add some air solenoids for more responsive kick as well as blow air at the trick or treaters.

We made the box with some old pallet wood we had and the kids loved painting some warning signs and stuff with some stencils we 3D printed and adding a chain and a 3D printed old fashioned lock.

Then I hit it with an oxy acetylene torch with a heavy carburizing flame to char the box in strategic locations and add a lot of soot/smoke.

It was a really fun project with the kids; they’re excited and maybe got to learn a few things along the way and hopefully we capture some good scares on the Ring.

The guts: Top to bottom, left to right: relay board, breadboard with sound card, Uno, amplifier, amp power supply, Xbox power supply for the windshield wiper motor (actually pretty decent capability)

Prepping to get a new engine in the sled.

Ah, the good old days. Ski-Doo cant make a recoil starter that stays together, or should I say that doesnt melt together. And Polaris cant make a fuel tank/gas cap that doesnt leak. I enjoyed my Yamaha for the few years I had it. Decent snow can be hard to come by in these parts. Heavily modded 94 VX500 that was one of the shops former grass drag sleds. Red one in the middle, #20.

Going a bit overboard, I’m building a PVC header for over the shed doors, with a drip edge to keep the water offf the tops of the doors.

Used the two offcuts from the corner trim, **** glued together to make a long piece. Corner trim is a 3/8” thick 4” right angle. I ripped an angle on the top edge, and cut a drip channel in to the bottom.

There is a 1x3 PVC board face glued in to it. Thats the clamps.

I cut some end caps from left over PVC plank, and glued those on. Clamped it all up and let it dry.

Only two driving days left in the year. Illinois antique vehicle plates expire at the end of October. So I took the rest of the afternoon to enjoy the 80F weather and went to visit a park I hadn’t been to before.

Walked through to tennis. Came home to grab some tools. I needed to shut off the water at my friend's house. Sprinkler failed.
Went back shut off the water at the street and then located the yard shut off valve. Turned the water back on for the house.
Went back on the courts to play another hour.

Nothing. Had oral surgery this morning at 7.30 in prep for getting two permanent implants (teeth, not ****).
Had some minor discomfort for maybe 30 minutes after & that was it. Teeth were #3 & #15 for those that know these things.
Same place pulled my wisdom teeth 20 years ago & that was totally painless with no swelling at all.

Got some grief from roomie when I told her the list of foods that was recommended after the surgery. Had to show her the list to prove I wasn't lying about ice cream & puddin' :)

Follow up on Dec 27th & then implants in April.

Only if you have the steady hands of youth. Essential tremors and mig go together perfectly.

Last night I swept up and put away tools, but only while I was out there chasing ***** out from under my vehicles and out of my new carport. The bastards just sat in the back corner accepting their fate, but I live in town and can't do that the nice way. So they lived but had to be chased out. Bad news for them is they live in the storm sewer next to the house and the city is about to dig it up so they're getting evicted any day now. Best I can do is make my property uninhabitable and unwelcome for them.

Last night. Sat in the basement with a coffee and mapped out a plan to untangle the birds nest of wiring they had going on. Tagged all the wires as to what they were doing/where they were going... (Tap into this, tap into that) Good news is I have some extra breakers. 3 outlets that run to the living room on a double pole 15 amp breaker and the next one over loaded

Water heater, jet pump, sump pump and washer need to be updated with GFI and armoured cable. We used to call it BX *Shrugs*

Made a few mods to my Viar portable compressor. Great little 12v compressor, **** quick disconnect on a cheap, recoil hose.
While disassembling the unit I needed to address a couple of galled screws.
A small tap socket sure came in handy for the M5 tap.
