Within the last year I purchased a Sunex 6603B 3-ton floor jack at auction. When I got it home it just needed to be topped off with jack fluid and it worked fine. I pulled it out yesterday to jack up a corner of a vehicle and by the time I walked to the garage and back to get a jack stand it had set the tire back down.

According to the manual, no matter the symptom the corrective action is to bleed air out of the system by jacking to the max height, releasing and pumping with the valve open. I've repeated this process numerous times, but the result is always the same.

Short of ordering the rebuild kit and replacing seals, is there anything else I might try first?

Thanks,

Hans

My experience, with multiple failed HF jacks, has been the same- bleeding doesn't work and it's time for a rebuild. But I'm sure you'll get more educated feedback.

It's a shame as that jack looks almost new. Maybe that's part of the problem- it sat for years.

How do you know that it needed to be topped off? Jacks can be overfilled, try removing some fluid.

Now I think I remember why I added oil...using the jack today to mount tires and recognizing a slow leak down. Probably time to rebuild?
