The monthly flea market didn't have the usual amount of tools, and was filled with Holiday decorations and gift items. I did find a few things worth bringing home.

Flea Market.jpg

Free stuff, all from sellers I know well (top row):
EEZOX gun lube
9 .303 British Remington 180 grain cartridges
Winton 21A-2667 hubcap and gas cap wrench

$2.00 for items on right:
Irwin 3/8 drive tap wrench
8mm T-handle allen wrench
two partial packages of hearing aid batteries, totaling 53 batteries (good until 10/2025)

$7.00 for the following sockets:
Craftsman 1/2 dr. 12-pt. "GK" 24mm
Wizard H2672 1/2 dr. 12-pt. 1"
D-I 1/2 dr. 12-pt. 7/8
Plomb USA 5432 1/2 dr. 12-pt. 1"
Proto USA 5427M 1/2 dr. 12-pt. 27mm
P&C 6118 1/2 dr. 12-pt. deep 9/16
Proto USA 7436-H 1/2 dr. 6-pt. Impact 1-1/8
unmarked 1/2 dr. 8-pt. 1/2
unmarked 5/8 1/2 dr. 8-pt.
Proto USA 5424-S 1/2 dr. 8-pt. 3/4
Proto Professional 3/4 dr. 12-pt. 5524M 24mm
Proto Professional 3/4 dr. 12-pt. 5526M 26mm
Proto Professional 3/4 dr. 12-pt. 5527M 27mm
Proto Professional 3/4 dr. 12-pt. 5528M 28mm

I was really happy to score the hearing aid batteries. I use this size, and go through a pair in less than a week. These are the "daisy wheel" dispensers, which you can't get any more, since Congress made them illegal due to a child ingesting a watch battery . The new packaging requires scissors to get at each battery. I'll be reloading these packages from the new style so I can get at them without tools each time I need one.

Estate sale ($75): 1920's J.W. York & Sons, no. 7172 - 28" x 14" bass drum; Jos. L. Shoemaker lamp; 1878-1888 Disston saw; Plasti Dip (nib); Coranado fan; 5" Bullicante paperweight; Playskool Ball Popper Roller.

Back from vacation. Ground out 4400 miles of solitude and seeing the folks in Vancouver, BC. Got back just in time to buy a ginormous drum, which my wife loves...

This one has a Phillips and two flat heads. The top of handle has a backwards "C" with an "E" written on it.

@Outlawmws -
Your saw set was made by one Herr Nettus Schmidt of Zella Mehlis, Germany.
"Garanto Fein" is a marketing slogan along the lines of "Guaranteed Finest" (or something like that.)

Did anyone figure out what the patent was on your crate opener/hammer device? (Sep 29 1908) ?

thx Four/cycle!

And if the Patent was posted for the crate tool I missed it. I'm still trying to find time to follow the driver patent posts more closely in the BPH thread. I'f I'm going to collect these wood drivers I need to be more knowledgeable!

1920's J.W. York & Sons, no. 7172 - 28" x 14" bass drum; Jos. L. Shoemaker lamp;

I like those two finds! especially the lamp!

I managed one ES today while running about 6 errands, a very subdued ES for a woman who passed at 99! A few tols adn I took most of those, but interesting ones:

6" rigid Pipe wrench, 4oz Heller BPH, a Brass hammer, Craftsman Sharpening stone in box - the box is mostly there but needs some fixing, A Radioshack scale, caliper, letter opener, & magnifier. About 18" of light aluminum angle. Wood Spool - not shown, #1 Phillips wood handle - brand unknown bot looks like PBH profile? - and a Victronix "Officers" Swiss army knife -$6 all:

ES1 Angle BPH Brass H rigid Victronix, Radio shack CM Stone #1 Philips.jpg

I have peeled the tape off the Brass hammer and the handle is serviceable but the top tape was actually holding the head on! it is a loose slip fit! no pics yet it got late. But the Heller BPH is marked both sides, but its not my W/E for pics of faint markings...

Motor cycle size tyre lever. Made in Italy. I don't recognise the TM.
Unused Silverline brand scriber.
SS medial forceps with a weird gripping tip. Stamped Pakistan.

Chesterman, Sheffield 'Rustless' (stainless steel) 6" rule. Was dirty when I picked it up and after cleaning off I was surprised to see the UK Govt property mark and 1944. It look unused!
Picador 207 pad handle for hacksaw blades.

DSCF0144R.jpg

Stanley 84-884 locking grips. Made in Taiwan. Look unused.

An unbranded but nice chrome plated pair of bent needle-nose pliers.
Three unbranded 'CR-VM' 6,8&12mm spline drive bits.
A well used but useable motorcycle size spring compressors.

DSCF0147R.jpg

DSCF0146R.jpg

An empty wooden X-Acto box in good condition.

I've been absent from this thread for quite a while, but have been watching from afar. Good finds, everyone.

Almost drove past a garage sale this past weekend... then back-tracked once I spotted a table saw. Made arrangements with the wife and for $80 I now own a Rigid Contractor table saw. Went by their place and picked it up this afternoon. The caster wheels on the base sold me on it, it rolls around real easily.

I helped bil clean his boss’ father’s storage unit and she let me buy a few things for $200. I’m pretty happy with the haul and I’m looking forward to outfitting my kids with a few more tools. The stack of boxes are full of wood like on the right… I still need to go through them but I’m excited to see what’s in there and start making boxes, organization, or whatever else.

Be careful with those woods. I once made a picture frame with padauk. The reaction damn near killed me.
Totally agree - I wear a lot of filtering; almost any wood dust really aggravates my sinuses, and yes, padauk especially.

The wife and I got up today and went to breakfast, then went and voted, and then went to a few thrift stores....

Today's Thrift store haul (also it's 25% off senior day!) :rocker:
1.jpg

First off is some old school (metal) windshield/door trim tools from Harbor Freight....suppose to be a 4pc kit but there is only 3....
2.jpg

Two paint brush sets....
3.jpg

Three no-name tools....a tack hammer (suppose to be magnetic, but it ain't)....a like new hole punch....and a nice heavy-duty flywheel turner tool....
4.jpg

Lastly, a solid (stainless steel?) extra heavy LOL! paperweight....
5.jpg

Total $16.60 less 25% = $12.45

We were able to get out on a pick this weekend. Property was once a tractor repair garage, the niece of the deceased owner was looking clean it up and hopefully get a little money for renovations on the house. We were able to search through the contents of two garages and the house. Lots of rusty tools that I would have liked to spend more time sifting through. As we are digging, we realized there was a rafters area that hadn’t been touched in many many decades. I climbed up and pulled out piles of NOS seed corn signs still wrapped in wax paper, oil cans and NOS overhaul parts. Here’s some pics of us loading up. Out the door $600. Tried to buy the old Olds with a Rocket 455 but it wasn’t for sale. I’ll post later with what I was able to bring home for the collection.IMG_0434.jpeg

I spotted these on Marketplace and ran over as quick as I could, lol:
20241106_183058b.jpg
Earthquake XT 3/4" Impact - $20
Earthquake 3/8" ratchet - $20
Mac Die Grinder - $5
New Duralast bolt extractor sets 80-100 & 80-101 - $5
And he threw in the 1/4" unbranded air ratchet and huge channel lock pliers - $0

So out the door, everything pictured, $50.

Yeah I'm supposed to stop buying stuff. When did that ever stop any of us LOL? This stuff is from the Main to Main massive garage sale day from Springhill Louisiana to Minden Louisiana. The cookset is a 1945 10th Mountain Division set. The last photos are after at least 2 hours of cleaning on that Texaco and Candusol buckets, the Texaco was absolutely nasty!20241102_151620.jpg20241102_153339.jpg20241102_175639.jpg20241102_175709.jpg20241102_175316.jpg20241102_180331.jpg20241102_180343.jpg20241102_180850.jpg20241102_180934.jpg

BB, what are those 2 small breakers? looks like the Craftsman driver is missing the locking slide? - Vise - Millers Falls?

ECO, those Enders drivers are great! I have several in constant use/rotation. Some marked "SGI" (Silicon Graphics Inc)

Outlaw, I have another older one. It has Pat Pend. on it and CRAZY BENZY’S TOOLS on the other side.

I consider them to be inherently better than the Lutz version.IMG_4464.jpeg

Our current arrangement is that my brother is usually the buyer/seller and I assist in any way that I can (extra set of eyes, climbing around in dark attics, and carrying items to the truck). In return I get to keep items that fit my collection/garage. Here's what I brought home from the tractor mechanic's pick.

Phillips 66 can, Paint Thinner can, JD 2 Cycle, JD Paint, Mobile Upperlube, brake fluid cans, and Eagle Scan Can Oiler. I'll post more over at the Show Your Oiler Cans. Also a couple Barcalo Craftsman and John Deere wrenches.

Foxbilt Feeds flange sign, Tomco Bred Corn flange sign, Tomco Bred Corn masonite sign, Carlson license plate topper and old 40s Olds hubcap. The Tomco flange sign still had wax paper on it which some ruins signs after many decades. Found a couple signs like that and it dropped their value about 75%.

Doorman Freeze plug box with plugs which will go along nicely with my Doorman nuts and bolts display. Finally the Niehoff Tuneup cabinet. Haven't inventoried the contents but it will probably be where I store other NOS items that we stumble across.

Not a particularly productive Berkeley garage sale this morning but it was fairly close to home and the prices weren’t too bad. IMG_7097.jpeg

We tried to go to a Berkeley estate sale but it was kind of close to campus and the line was so long that we gave it up.
