Quincy QT-7.5

I have a Quincy QT-7.5 Air Compressor. It ran perfectly until the rear pump bearings left the chat (plenty of oil, they just blew apart). It damaged at least the block, crank, and large piston wrist pin so a rebuild is not economical.

Quincy wants $2k for a new pump. They discontinued the original pump so you have to buy a newer model and a retrofit kit...

Are there any resources for a used QT-7.5 besides Marketplace? I see one retailer online selling new ones for $1500. Or is there a pump that I can make work with the 7.5hp motor that gets me close to the original cfm?

Any suggestions are appreciated!

I would go with this style,(Sanborn SC23) which is a Saylor beall 705 clone. Or if you want larger go with the Saylor beall 707 clone.(Sanborn SC46)

No clue if either site is a good place, but tonnes of places to buy parts for either, disc valves, reliable design.

Watch the CFM ratings as some list at 90psi vs the 175psi they are good for...

Dunno, the above pumps look cheap- well, they look like what you'd expect to get for the price. If I'm spending $700+ on a two stage pump, I want to know CFM at 175 PSI at X pump RPM. Not at 90PSI; that's deceiving to mask a **** pump. IIRC the Quincy pump is ~24 CFM at 1050 RPM at 175 PSI. Everything is cast iron on mine except the cylinder head.

Good luck to the OP. It looks like a new QT 7.5 is ~$3300 now. I think I paid $1800 for mine in 2010, so the current price isn't surprising.

Well the QT pump can't be that great of quality if it blew apart it's own bearing. I wouldn't replace it with the same one. Find a champion pump, or Saylor Beal, or old devilbiss. Or better yet find a QR quincy pump. If you don't want high pressure look for an emglo (Jenny) G series pump.

I'm guessing that the bearing seized or self destructed and took out everything else. The pump body is cast iron and has been in production for 50? years. So it's not junk.

There was a thread here a few months ago where someone bought a QT-7.5 compressor, with a destroyed pump, and the pump casting was fine and he was able to rebuild it for a few hundred dollars. The parts were ridiculously cheap. I'll search....
