Anyone a shy fan of them? I bought a couple of 2$ pocket knives a few yrs ago and they've held up well. I saw a 20$ hatchet and 5$ Machete I may pick up too. I've got two mid range Kershaws I really like but for the money these OT knives aren't too shabby. Picked up a 7$ spring assisted one a few days ago and it took a fairly sharp edge w/some touch up.

I've got an AXIS-lock clone that I bought 2-3 years ago, as well as a Tanto fixed blade (pocket-size). The AXIS-lock clone is no Benchmade, but is pretty smooth and has decent steel. Tanto is a nice knife, but don't expect it to stay on your waistband or belt--the clip is really cheap.

Friend of mine gave me a couple older OT Hobos recently. Haven't had the chance to use them yet.

now that you mention it, this 7$ one I got does have a rather flimsy clip. Looks similar to the kershaw's in construction but thinner gauge. The 2$ one from a few yrs ago is same thin gauge but it's either stiffer spring steel or geometry makes it a much snugger fit (too snug imo w/geometry closer to Kershaw's)

If buying a cheap machete, try out the handle first! I've used some that will leave you in tears with bleeding palms in a few minutes of use.

I had a cheapy one from HF several yrs ago w/decent ergo but it was glued on so it became dangerous once glued failed. I just got the ozark based on some reviews that said the blade was thicker than the HF's but it turned out to not be the case. I found this decent deal of 5 assorted "Colombian army surplus" but didn't pull the trigger. I'm not cutting trails so this one feels fine.

Also picked up a tanto blade ball bearing flicker to try out. Blade's a bit small but it does swing open fairly easy.

See the square end of three of those? That's exactly the type of grip to give you horrible blisters at the pinky end of your palm. The wood-handles ones are shaped right for actual use, with the rounded end where it rests against the palm.

I've probably spent too much time clearing brush with a machete.

the ozark is kind of like that but sloped away so in my hand feels fine. The scales seem like cheap plastic but at least they're riveted on. The whole placement appears identical to the HF's so it'd be nice to get a spare pair. The price was a buck more in-store than online for some reason:

HF's....looks like scale design change a bit, maybe they went w/a thinner blade as well. I don't use the saw much but it's super helpful to hook branches on the ground so saves your back some:

FWIW: for the pocket knives, the walmart mobile online site gives more spec/details for knives than the website or the packaging does.
