I love the look of this white cabinet circled in this photo. I want to find one for my garage. Are these pretty hard to find?

We garage sale/estate sale often. I buy most all that I find. We have a total of three complete sets, in wife's craft room and my garage. They are cheap, sturdy and cool when restored/painted.

I go to a lot of estate sales so I know I’ll find one soon! I would love to find a cool white porcelain one!

Here is one of those tall thin porcelain kitchen cabinets but it's a four door. This one has lost it's place in the shop and is in the surplus pile at the moment.....

I love those-mid century cabinets from American Kitchens. I have 9 upper cabinets in my garage/shop, a tall cabinet in the dining room, two uppers in my office flanking the window, and two uppers on the wall of the covered patio. I even have a promotional steel rule from American Kitchens/Avco.

While getting the boiler room at the brewery ready for the new boiler install, I noticed this abandoned and forgotten old First Aid kit:

We changed providers and they installed their own cabinet, so...

Picture ain't plumb; cabinet is.

I've been storing that stuff in a place that OSHA would find... shocking.

Does this qualify? Just picked it up to organize some car parts.

Sure it does; it's metal, it's a cabinet for a garage/shop, and it's semi vintage. Sorensen Manufacturing has been around since the early seventies and had a factory in Glasgow, KY, and had a good reputation. Though, I'm too sure who made the cabinet.

I think its time to get it off the floor, and mount it in your shop : )

The tag reads, "Jayem Sales Corp."

It stands 2.5' tall, a foot wide and 10' deep.... The top lid reveals a compartment with divider. Thanks! Matthew
I've got the same exact cabinet.
I'm going to use this cool ole Jayem cab to help declutter my workbench.....
I'll set it up right next to my Bench to house small tools and stuff that I am always reaching for

I might have posted this old 26 inch wide 28 deep 45 inch tall fireproof cabinet before but didn’t think I’d ever have to move it again. I moved a few things around in my half of our two car garage and had a perfect spot for it so I moved it. Not sure how much it weighs but heard and read somewhere near 1000 pounds.

Pushing it around and tipping it in and off my trailer surely made me sore the next couple days but it’s done now. I’m pretty sure if I wasn’t able to remove the drawers I’m not sure even two guys could move it. Drawers came out cause I learned that trick long ago and the slides came out too cause I knew where the small notch was to remove them.

I’m guessing each of the drawers can store up to a couple hundred pounds and I need one for my mapp gas and maybe a few other flammable items. IMG_9015.jpegIMG_9017.jpegIMG_9018.jpeg

I have access to a bunch of fireproof filing cabinets, part of our cleanout at work. Unfortunately, they're the tall / wide ones, and weigh way too much to move.

Several are on a second floor (without an elevator), so we'd need to hire riggers to get them down, even in pieces. Most likely, they'll be auctioned off, and removal will be the responsibility of the buyer.

I went to look at a coke cooler the other day, the Man said if I saw anything else that I was interested in let him know, it was at a flip house.

I saw this sitting in the corner of the garage.
20250516_185546.jpg
This little box was on top of it when we pulled it out from under the work bench.

I got all three pieces for a good price.
The drawer unit will go to my wood shop once I empty out all of the drawers.
The coke machine will replace the fridge in my main shop, after a paint job of course!

One of my more interesting finds were two "Teller Pedestal Cabinets" ...Steel, double wall construction, brass? handles and knobs, 1/8" thick steel vault doors, and leather top with brass trim. I believe they were mfg'd by Fenco or Diebold 1930-1940. These were made specifically for banks. Interesting note: the internal walls are smooth with no gaps or crevices ...apparently this was a design feature for Teller cabinets so paper money cannot be hidden, either unintentionally or intentionally!

Disclaimer: I no longer have these, I recently traded them for a Wilton vise. I had every intention of keeping the Teller Cabinets until I die but then I came across a sweet deal on one Vidmar cabinet and one Equipto cabinet (at the same seller). Space is a premium, so I had to let the twins go!

@Hooterville, those are incredible! I'm with you, I'd have a VERY hard time letting them go. At least they weren't family heirlooms!

A few pics of my under-the-workbench vintage metal cabinets.

Preface: The past 2 years I searched for metal cabinets that 1) have high load capacity and 2) vary in drawer heights & widths, and 3) make good use of the space under my two workbenches (30 inches deep).

Current Status: 80% complete. Shown here are Art Metal drawers 25.5" deep, Safco flat file 5-drawer cabinet 30" deep , and the blue Wright Industries drawers 29.5" deep.

Next step: Rearrange and incorporate the third blue Wright Industries cabinet. Result will be one unused space 15.5"W x 17"H x 30"Deep. I am currently searching for something to fit that space, i.e. a steel box with a single door 15"x17". I may need to pull a Jack Olsen and modify a metal cabinet or box!

One of two of these I bought years ago.
I very recently cut the top off a Craftsman 16” deep tool chest, refurbished, and slid in place in the mid section. I have it set up for sit down detail repair work with tools handy in the drawers.

Mommicking up a couple of Craftsman upper chests for the end result. Yes, it’s a word. you can look it up. My countrified mother always used it.
I paid $5 for the 12 drawer chest with no lid, and $10 for the 14 drawer with a damaged lid.
The 12 drawer went under a 60 yr old bolted angle iron frame table I found that I use for my miter saw, and the 14 drawer was in the post above. After I cut down the 14 drawer I added some 1/2” flat bar to the top to provide stiffness. It slid into the cabinet opening with 1/8” clearance on the sides and 1/32” clearance at the top.
Removing and reinstalling trim and abrasive blasting 26 drawers was a bit time consuming but I did it at my leisure over several days. It was monetarily cheap and I am retired.

In case anyone is interested the drawer liner material is a cheap carpet-like 1/8” thick flooring runner sold at some stores. I got this locally from Ollie’s bargain outlet in a 6’x9’ piece for around $15. I 3C8FF123-D284-4F21-825E-9977835382FE.jpeghave found it at various lower budget stores over the years and have used it for many years in my work tool cabinet. I have not found anything else to beat it for price, looks and usefulness. It is fairly stiff and lays flat without bunching up. Beyond these cabinets I am now installing it in all my drawer units in the shop. One side is lightly ribbed It can be marked easily with ink pen or sharpie and cuts with larger size scissors.

I was elated to find this small cabinet at the flea market this morning forlorn and neglected among the garage detritus of a large house liquidators load. It's a Marvel Carburetor Company small parts cabinet! Most of the drawers are jammed shut with stuff, but I will post more photos - including an awesome decal - after I get home and free them up.
