Hello all,

I'm feeling a little stupid today...

I am trying to wire a panel in my new detached garage. I have 2-2-2-4 ran from the house (not hooked up in the house panel yet).

The problem I have is this, the wire isn't color coded. The 4awg has a yellow stripe but for the 2aw wires, one says "phase A" one says "phase B" and the other says "phase C"

Which one goes where?

Please help...

Happy Thanksgiving!

What kind of wire did you buy?

FWIW,looks like you bought 3 phase wire
The colour code for three-phase wiring in Canada is red, black, and blue:
  • Red: Phase 1
  • Black: Phase 2
  • Blue: Phase 3
That's typical 120 3 phase here. 480 and above is usually brown orange and yellow.

thats because you got the wrong wire. that is URD for underground service laterals for 3Ø service. also if that is single rated URD, it is not permitted inside.

I would put A into L1, B into L2, C into the neutral, and the yellow stripe should be your ground. Just make sure they're matched up between the main and the sub.
Like this then?

If that panel is bottom fed flip the panel so the main is at the bottom, the install will be much cleaner then having excessive cable in the panel gutters.
