Excellent series on your mods, @66HertzClone, keep it up! The magnets holding the support to the legs (when hanging down) are strong enough to cause the rolled edges to smack into the cart legs right above the magnets when raising the tray up. The edges would eventually ding the paint, hence the felt strips.

Thank you Rick, I am pleased with the mods so far, I had some foam tape and cut a couple of pieces to guard against the edges of the tray support from marking up the legs. I've got a couple of guys working in my yard today, I plan to enlist their help getting the cart into my house. I have removed the drawers and the cutting board top in order to make the weight manageable. I will bend down the hook on the rear end of the drawer to disable to lid latch before putting those back in the cabinet.

@TheDuckBuster details on the sliding door? recently bought the 5 drawer cart, and this is the only major mod ive wanted to do as well. For the same reason i dont want to do traditional hinge door. about how much space do you loose by doing the doors this way? also what gauge diamond plate did you use? i was thinking minimum 20 gauge any details would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Any Harbor Freight gurus know when these things will be on sale again?
I'm not good enough to predict Harbor Freight's sales or coupons, but you can use the Hazard Fraught Price Tracker to see when it has gone on sale before and possibly extrapolate. You could also set an alert.

We are going out of town for Thanksgiving, but there is a HF not too far away from where we will be staying. Guess I will get to find out if the box will fit in the back of a Beetle!
It'll be a mouthful, but do whatever you can - it's worth it!
I just wish I had grabbed the grey folding table when it was in stock...

FWIW: FB marketplace is often a good place to score a deal on those carts. They're priced at retail more often than not but you do see good deals in bright colors sometimes.

Looking locally looks like a 4 cart popped up. Anyone know if 5 & 4 drawer carts can be franken-spliced together like the 5 drawer ones can?

The 4 drawer carts are shallower than the 5 drawer. They don't "splice" in that regard.

what about between the frame? 5 drawers' seems narrower due to wider angle iron. I wouldn't mind making a shelf behind the shallower boxes.

Finally managed to finish assembly, kept having to go do other things which were not as fun, like going to the store the day before Thanksgiving! I believe I saw it mentioned somewhere among the 100 some-odd pages that people were putting grommets into the screwdriver holes. Lowe's a good place to pick those up or would I be better off looking elsewhere?20241127_095912.jpg

I think I read here from one member that he covered the bottom of the entire screwdriver tray with a rubber mat that had screwdriver holes a bit smaller than the ones in the metal exactly centered over those holes. Served as grommets as well as a mat for other little things. That's not a possibility for my cart, else I would have done that.

I like that idea. Would save the finish over time as well as keeping things from rattling around.

Although you won't get sales forecast, signing up for the emails from HF will get the sales ads as they come out.

If you don't want the emails later on, you y unsubscribe.

Seeing as Dixie got theirs already on the Black Friday sale mentioned in a later post than the one you replied to, this isn't advice for anyone in particular, but fellow GJ'er RandyF's hfpricetracker.com email alerts work and save the time and trouble of scouring though every HF email. Search & find the hfpricetracker.com page for whatever you're wanting at Harbor Freight and there you can see the price history of when it's had a coupon/sale price before and sign up for an alert the next time it does.

Ever since Randy added the alert feature to the site (I like to think, at my suggestion) I've gotten just about every big ticket item I want from Harbor Freight just as soon as it goes on sale. I've yet to have to wait more than a few weeks after signing up for an alert before getting the email notification. It just works. Life's too short to be wading through all of those emails instead.

I did see that he got one. I just wanted to throw it out there about signing up for the HF email. You might think it would be common knowledge but not everyone knows about it. Just spreading the good word.... tools on sale.

Are the latest series 4 drawer tech carts a similar size to the series 1 five drawer?

Was thinking id like 4 more drawers in my series one.

Im 1000 miles from home or id measure
went and measured one yesterday, they are not the same size.
Bought a 27" roll cabinet instead.

went home and started modifying my very old 5 drawer cart for my lathe stand i am going to make,
