How tall are your shop walls? And also your woodshop area walls?
Main shop has 14’ walls. Wood shop walls are 8’4.5”, 8’ stud with bottom and 2 top plates.

Leaves about 5’ right at the wall on the mezzanine but is up over 6’ pretty quickly.

Wanted enough space in the wood shop to maneuver 8’ boards and this was the best compromise between that and ceiling height in what will be my office.

Mounted/aimed my 2nd IP camera on the new place's garage.

Inside the house I killed the power briefly and ran my service cable to the basement for the new sub panel. Installed the 90a breaker and terminated it. When I turned the main back on, my wireless router died. Oh well, it was used anyway, and I got it free. It may have had issues already. So now I need to find another one, lol. It's probably just the power supply, I'll have to check it out when I get more time. It's not super important. It's just for viewing the security system on my phone. The system itself is hard-wired, so it stays working if the WiFi is working or not.

Built a little grid out of aluminum strut for the brooms. Broom holder and hooks are aluminum pit posse.

This is on an outside but covered area of the shop. Ran out of 1/4x20 cone nuts so will add a few more hooks when I get them for smaller dustpan and brushes.

Discovered the $250 regulator I replaced was not the source of my issues on my TIG welder... :/

Funny thing is I looked this hose over when I was having some small gas supply issues and don't recall seeing this; perhaps I missed it as this would have been on the underside of the hose on the inside of the bend where it leaves the machine and hangs down. I ended up replacing the regulator after opening the welder up to inspect the internal hose and after inspecting the hose from the bottle to the machine. Then my gas issue got reeealllyyyyyy bad... and I find this!

Pulled a mud bucket out of the corner that I thought was filled with scrap copper and brass (making a run to the scrap yard next week), but the scrap was only a shallow layer. Under it all was about 3 gallons of assorted fasteners, ugh. Based on the contents, I probably shoved it in the corner over 30 years ago. No time like the present, so I did a first pass sort to pitch the useless and or rusty. Not really my planned project, but it was all I was motivated to do anyway.

Valve cover gasket, spark plug tube seals, and grommets on my '95 Eclipse to address an oil leak in one of the plug tube seals

full

While I had it off, I noted that the valve cover was a bit faded and the letters were oxidized, so I went over the letters with a fine pad on my die grinder, and then finished it with a gray scotch-brite. For the painted portion, I buffed on it by hand using some Meguiar's ultra-cut compound. It's not perfect, but much better! the gray-coloring you can see between the small letters is what most of the top surface looked like before.

full

As the paint it pretty oxidized and in rough shape, the valve cover is now the best-looking part of the car :ROFLMAO:

After running errands and coming home, I figured I'd run an errand myself. That's when my GX wouldn't start.

Ran some codes and came up with a P0340 for a camshaft position sensor.

I'm rocking +370k miles and being a daily, it doesn't surprise me such a sensor went out. Ordered it via Ebay from a nearby dealer and it got here within 2 days.

20241127_102522.jpg

What was supposed to be an hour job took over 3-4 hours all because of a stupid bolt.

On a Toyota's 2UZ, in order to remove the sensor, you need to pull off the timing cover which means you have to pull off the bolts on the brackets holding down the oil cooler pipe. One of them is a nut which was really easy to remove.

The next one was a bolt, which is not only shallow, but has a bracket right next to it limiting you from getting a socket right on it.

20241127_120326.jpg

Went at it from the top, from the bottom, used swivels and extensions, until I finally got right at it with a cheap tekton socket and swivels. Timing cover released but that wasn't all.

20241127_163037.jpg

The stud that held the nut the oil cooler line was attached to, was really seized up and it took a bit until I finally got it off. You can see how bad it was at the threads.

20241127_163637.jpg

Sensor finally out.

20241127_163841.jpg

But not before I had to fight the other bolt that held it in place.

20241127_165809.jpg

Rather than reusing these, I ordered a new stud and new bolts so I'll button it up once they arrive. I hate having a vehicle downed for any reason.

Another great day in the shop after doing my second report for EI and only had one Corona 0.0 out there….

Doubler redone, all parts accounted for and in their rightful place, my machinist buddy has the one piece that I don’t need

until the Console goes back in (it’s getting paint after shifter mount gets ‘clearanced‘ to slide be the cupholders and some side panels for the heater box to be whipped up tomorrow, going back to body color and several coats of clearcoat as she’s bound to get beat on and scratched up.

Doubler now is ready for install complete with bigger vents (common problem with the black box is it overheats so I am giving it even whch way chance.

but want to play with a wooden prototype of a wooden cradle to set heights and Centerline, don’t really need some adjustment on the heavy side but it would help. No need for pics there.

my brother sent me a link to a Princess Auto dirt bike lift that would make lifting that tcase way safer but its 250$….250$ I don’t got right now, bad enough I want that Red roller box but I happy with clearing off some more bench space.

then my brother texted me I got you a present but you only getting the front cover, framed for the garage. He knows one of my mottos is Work hard….play Harder I have already said it’s so into me that it’s getting inked on me.9520BD58-4890-45D5-AB56-E03A38A00C45.jpeg

You need yourself one of these. You can get at most bike shops and online. I only used this link because it has pics of both sides of the cup. I consider this a must have tool. https://westcoastsaw.com/products/r...1P7Zs508s1ILUZ5Wf2eN4oJ5boPve3tturChOp3aa_MUB
I've had a Ratio-Rite for probably at least 50 years. Pretty brittle now. 3-4 years ago, it fell off a shelf and cracked off a piece of the base rim. I was going to replace it and toss the old but my wife said I should keep the old one around as it was part of my history.

Used to be used when I was racing two-strokes in desert & motocross. Now, it gets used to measure insecticides and things. The passage of time....

Also sketched out my tube spare tire carrier. Will be fold down as the tire is 42”, but also will incorporate CB whip, LED licence plate light and 2 Rotopax fuel cans.

just need to convince my buddy to take it home for a month. so I might as well get some tube bent out at his shop with the main hop being the only one I need bent properly but ends left long.

hmmmm conduit bender?

tempted to go buy my own tube bender but think this is the last tube project i will take on.

I got the rest of the drywall hung in my shop. About 640 sq ft in all.
Next is to blow in 40 bags of cellulose insulation. My neighbor says he'll feed the blower for me.
I had this heavy built little stand that I had no use for. My shop is such a horrifying mess right now from hanging the drywall ceiling, but yesterday I was able to move things around and contrive a way to get the legs into the bandsaw one at a time and cut them shorter.
The stand is now 16" high - the recommended height off the floor for a gas furnace in a shop.

You, sir, have some type of award coming.

the fact that you planned your home and shop such that any largish occasion requires it be held in the shop is awesome. It shows off the shop, allows for discussions as why more shop tools are required and in general shows who is in charge/ is the man of the domicile. You can use these occasions to force others in the home to help clean up the shop…and the shop sink and bathroom as well.

Brilliant my dear man.

PS we all know that no sane married man is in charge of…well…anything😎

You're kind. Were my family to show up, I'd serve them fried rabbit droppings on a rotten log, out at the North line. And since it's snowing heavily, there'd be extra entertainment.
Whoa whoa whoa. It's just merely easier not to have to worry about people slopping food in the house. Kids, grandkids and the dogs make their fair share of messes over the years.

However, I appreciate the nice thoughts.

And just wanted to add to this, in case it helps anyone.

I've got a ton of tools, old tools really. That stud there got a bit chewed up and it dawned on me to try something "better".

Amazon had free overnight for orders over $25 so I ordered myself the Wera Joker in 10mm (as well as gifts for my friends kids).

Compared my old Made in USA Craftsman, a ratcheting Husky, and the Wera that just came in.

Might help someone that runs into a situation where you can't get a socket on a bolt. I've got a 12mm incoming that'll help get at my fan clutch bolts.

It finally happened to me... I lost the tape measure. I used to giggle when you guys talk about losing your tape measures, and I just couldn't relate.

Well yesterday I was all over the place with my one tape measure that I have on the job site. Today, I spent probably a hour looking for it. It should have been on my miter saw, since that's where I used it last. I looked there, and a dozen other places. Even stupid places it could never be. But at the end, I found it. Beside the miter saw stand, on the floor, under my portable air tank. It must have fell and slid somehow. But I found it!!

Then I cut some boards for the kitchen floor.

more work on my Center console. Still need to trim where it slides under the dash.

this is gonna be one thing that catches peoples eyes after they **** their pants with 42” tires. 1 transmission shifter that in itself makes you go how the fk….then there’s the triple stick of the transfer cases….what are all these for? Then holy **** switch for this switch for that!

Started moving stuff around for the winter set up, gotta get my Polaris plow set up on, need to work on the Jeep and put a radiator and all new hoses in. I should get to spend some time out here this winter and finally get it organized and set up how I need it. Gotta cover the mustang which you can maybe see just the hood scoop peaking over the jeep hood!

Did you happen to notice a 10mm socket down there? I'm still looking for my most recent one.

Nope. I almost lost my first 10mm the other day though. I asked my wife to grab me a 10mm wrench. She said there isn't one. I said "Wait- you can't find the 10mm?!" and she was like "they all say something-slash-something". I was like "whew! You're in the SAE drawer, look in the metric drawer". And there it was, thankfully.

Well love it when a vision comes to fruition. Little more trimming but seats and console are in as mock up.

Yes you do see 4 shifter handles in that console…..everything is within reach, switches be a little fun but they mostly for this and that light.

This truck sure has come around to being fun to work on.

Welding tomorrow on the frame then the doubler can go back in, ready to whip up a very unique crossmember to support that heavy *** Tcase.
