I hit that sale around noon today, and the Goodell Pratt boxed push drill that I hoped would still be there was gone, along with anything else I might be interested in. But, I did see a coyote in the park down the street. So, I got that at least.

The grinder stands alone can bring $300. His stand is the earlier version so that will add to its value.

Just scored this 1/3 hp Craftsman bench grinder dated to 1964 and all these tools today. The grinder was $50 but all I had was 20's so the seller asked if I wanted a small filing cabinet with misc. tools inside for $10 so all in for $60 which was a deal I couldn't refuse. Even though I did open it I didn't realize how much was actually inside until I went to unload everything. I kind of feel bad offering $40 on the grinder when talking on Facebook but the seller had only one blurry photo, didn't know the hp, and I didn't know it came with the lamp! The grinding wheels are original and will need to be dressed but it runs like a top. Also someone in the past had even replaced the power cord with a grounded one.

@BD55, I have always heard those called telescoping gages, not bore gages. When I think of a bore gage, it has a large dial on it for measuring directly. Just semantics, but...

I would also practice taking multiple measurements against known sized samples to see how well you can hold to a size. It is a bit of of a learned skill, and some are naturally better than others. At a minimum, it will show what tolerance you can hold using them.

If you already knew all of the above, apologies!

Do the Starretts have a friction/ratcheting section for tightness?

Nice find. Gauges and to have a lathe to use them on. That's definitely a u ****.

Thanks! Yes - I was lazy in saying bore gages but you’re right, they’re telescoping bore gages. And yes, the back part of the barrels of the Starretts slip.

All good. Some people tend to get caught up in small details, so didn't want you to get "yelled at". Glad to hear the Starrett's slip. IME, you will find you like one kind of brand better than others for things like micrometers (and end up with at least half a dozen other 0-1's gathering dust)...

I was waiting for someone to notice those. I actually have a 140 that belonged to my Grandfather in my shop, of course it's been brazed and I made the replacement side plate when I was running a waterjet. This one will get a light cleaning and sent to the bay, I will have to acquire 1 side plate screw. I'm sure I have a knob in my parts bin.. There is another interesting piece in the bunch as well.

On Friday, I was able to sneak out and hit three sales, all the while avoiding the Black Friday madness for the most part.

First was a tool (and jewelry and china, but whatevs) sale were I found the geometric C push driver in box (with bits and instructions!), an Armstrong 1" combo, and the Goodell Pratt 1 push drill. Second stop had nothing of interest, but the third stop was the surprise. I didn't have much hope for it, as no pictures. But it was on my way home, so I figured what the heck. And here I found the Snap-on Vacuum Grip needle nose, Klein Kurves (my favorite wire strippers) and, best of all, an Armstrong ignition set, only missing the pliers, which I am sure I have a pair of.

And today will be spent putting up the Xmas lights.

J.H. Williams , it is an SC-8. A search here at GJ shows they were in the catalog around 1952-1961. The 3/8" version is a BC-6.

Thanks, I hadn't been shopping in awhile, these two sales popped up and were close enough together that it made sense to drive to both. The planes were a surprise and I had to look twice to realize it was a 140, thankfully I knew what it was. The 130 was a bonus. I left behind a couple block planes due to missing parts/bolts replacing screws etc. The adjustable crowsfoot was a very unexpected surprise, The BOG set had caught my interest in the pics, but only as a vintage set, couldn't tell the maker,etc from the listing. I had a good morning and I am glad I went.

The estate sale where I purchase the Delta grinder last week had a last minute posting this morning so I ran over to check it out. I was hoping the old Cman drill press would still be there but it was gone. There was still an old Delta Rockwell planer and a TON of old Porter Cable USA made power tools in excellent condition still in their metal cases. I don't have a need or know enough about them to even think about buying them. Also a ton of woodworking hardware.
Oh well....I found a few goodies that I could have lived without but also couldn't leave behind because I know it all likely end up in the trash.

Ten bux got me all of this:

Possible old military wrench roll marked "BG-30", ball peen hammer (possibly Maynox?), Wiss tin snips, Stanley chisels, Sears tire patch tins, Red Diamond adjustable, Pella clock that works and was made in USA, and what appears to me to be a very old Master Lock unfortunately without the key. @jeffmoss26 maybe you have some insight.
