I refill mine by inverting them in the oil and squeeze. They fill pretty fast that way.

Two 'local' Estate auctions ended yesterday I won a toolbox at each. Both have contents yet to be sorted . I picked up the 26" stack today , The Beach stack is scheduled for pick up on Wed. I may/may not be able to sort and inventory this coming weekend. I did sort/dispose quickly of 30 lbs of trash and 20 lbs of scrap before the 26" came off my truck, just so it was eaiser to unload/lift/carry. It was a housecleanout type auction and I was the last pick up of the day. Cursory look at the tools some decent wrenches and sockets to sort/clean. The Beach contents are a mystery until Wed afternoon.

Ohhh, that second stack looks good! I am not sure what the top and bottom brand are? The middle looks snap on but I can tell you the other 2 are not Proto

The mid box is a Yorktown. I'm leaning towards the upper and lower being Waterloo or Cornwell possibly, but I've had no time to really dig deeper.

I really like the way the running letters on the red one give it "horror night at the art theatre" look!
I've been on the look-out for cans like those for years. I don't know if they're popular for hipster kitchens or what, but all have been outside of my comfort zone--as in, I can buy a brand new one for less.

Stopped by my favorite resale shop this morning. He had a Wilton 111017 and a couple of nice traditional folders (Case Trapper and Schrade 8OT) laying around … how could I say no? Jaws on the Wilton are OK.

I bought a bunch of tools this morning for $42.
The 1/2” deep impact Bonney set (minus 14mm and with an added Snap-on 22mm/7/8” socket) is the best find. Other than the rust, it is lightly used.
I need to get some Evaporust… but not today. It is too cold.

Noticed that there were three interesting sales in the "town" south of me, so I headed down that way. The first one I hit was a bust, but the other two made up for it.
The first pf those was a couple kids clearing out the remains of grandpa's shop. Good, interesting stuff, but I need another lathe like a whole in my head, and I didn't have a list of any MT drill bits I might need, sadly. But I did find a bundle of scrapers (bearing), Mt2 Jacobs 31(?), MT1 Standard drill chucks, a small vial of #1 bits, and a None Better breaker bar. $15.
My last stop was the estate sale of a tool collector, and, boy, they weren't wrong!
Archimedean drill (haven't found a makers mark yet), Fairmont bicycle wrench, Coes wrench, Mossberg ratcheting wrench, Blackhawk drainplug wrench, Mossberg Apco ell, Williams b-50 with Williams removable plug.
Stanley plan book #95, Walker-Turner catalog from '42, Popular Mechanics shop book '27, Gingery book on dividing heads, and a Thorsen Tools catalog from the mid thirties. $26.
Then I stopped and got a cup of coffee.

Only two sales mentioned tools so we checked out the closest one in El Cerrito first. There were a few items in the garage and I grabbed everything of interest and went to check out. The seller quoted an outlandish price so I started removing items from the pile. He wanted $10 each for some wood handled Buck Bros. chisels so of course those went back. I ended up with these for a fair price. 
The Colton file card had the patent date of Oct 7 90 and that wasn’t 1990.
They haven’t changed much over the years.
My favorite find was the auger handle with a patent date of Dec 12, 1850.
The second sale was in Tiburon in Marin County and we should have saved the bridge toll although it was a nice ride. I grabbed some brass hose nozzles for the collection and apparently the estate sale lady must have thought they were gold so they stayed there. I ended up with some steel wool and a fairly modern Empire level.

That's two in less than a week! I got one last Sat. also with the printing washed off, but mine has the pick wire.
I believe this is the Same George A. Colton that did the "Colton Patent Vises"!

Estate sale: ($20): 1964 Ludwig Pioneer snare drum in Sky Blue Pearl.
Had to put on a new snare head and snare, which cost $30. $50 all in for a nice piece of kit.
