I promised a member to look at my compressor for cap sizes, and I got to it today . brings up the question, should we start a thread solely as a reference for motors to cap specs? I am thinking little to no discussion, just references to caps sizes vs motors
let me know what you think?

No, way to many variables and options to trust to this crowd. Some of the old motors I have I know do not have the original caps in them and I would not trust them to be correct. As said most of this information is available from reliable sources.

Wow. Timely thread, however this deals with a small portable dust collector. I purchased a larger unit and this one became expendable. I was cleaning it up to sell and fired it up, it wouldn’t fire up. The problem was the capacitor, which I found bizarre as this is the first time I had to replace one. It took 5 stops which made it kind of elusive. Finally found one within original specs at Grainger, which was close but not exact specs. Price was right under $10. The specs are in the photo. The one shown is the original capacitor IMG_1881.jpegIMG_1889.jpegIMG_1885.jpeg

Took off like a Led Balloon. To bad.

Looks like I'll have to start yet another motor/capacitor thread.
