You **** for that! 6 bucks is a steal.Passed by a garage sale today and grabbed a 6 dollar bag of 1/4” drive. The top group is sk wayne and the bottom is craftsman =v=. Not much, but happy to break the 2025 ice.
I come across the cheap repro (usually made in India) all the time. The odd times I come across authentic ones, they are way out of my price range. From the markings, I'm guessing the 1880's? The longer one is about 4'.

Estate sale ($9): Pyrex-933 lasagna pan in orange tangerine.
Picked this up yesterday and yup pyrex is definitely collectable. This one pretty consistently sells on the bay for around $75 -$100

You'll need a cutlass to go with the lingo. It would also be more suited to use in a close-quarters encounter, like a flea mkt or garage sale.

@gleman That's a very nice pattern. I probably started picking up pyrex a couple of month ago and the bright primary ones are definitely worth more than the earth tones or 70's colors. They can get pricy, but in general you can still make good money on them. I've never had much luck with cast iron as people generally buy to keep, which drives up the prices.
@Private Lugnutz in regards to haggling, just hafted my Hudson Bay hatchet this morning and figured if it works for Mel it would likely work for me.

On another topic, according to the bay's year end stats, I'm ranked in the top 2% for tool sellers and grossed $20 235 in my first full year as a reseller. Not bad for a side gig.

My wife and I are coming up on 20 years of marriage. We still use the Pfaltzgraff set that we got when we were married as our daily dinnerware. The pattern (Orleans) was discontinued ages ago. Pfaltzgraff is/was stupidly expensive, considering it isn't fine China.
Over the years, we've broken some pieces and replaced them (eBay). We need to refresh some missing (broken) pieces again.
Our boys do the dishes (dishwasher), and our youngest (14) has a nasty, seemingly unbreakable habit of slamming them together as he's putting the clean ones away. Of the remaining set, at least a quarter of them are chipped.
The other unfortunate thing about Pfaltzgraff is that it's stoneware, and shows every scratch any utensil has ever made on it. I made the mistake of scrambling eggs with a fork in one of the bowls once, and was horrified when I saw the marks left behind.
This morning, we were discussing replacing the whole set with something new. I'm trying to push for Corelle, even if we have to buy new ones, because unless you drop them, they're pretty resistant to breakage, and would probably survive the football player's rough treatment...
We have a tile kitchen floor, which is completely unforgiving when you drop anything, so I'm not looking for unbreakable (plastic), just something that'll not chip as easily.

I only had a single oil can and I wasn't going to spend $20 at Lowes for one made in China so I decided to search on Marketplace. I found a listing with 40+ cans for $5 a piece so I picked a good variety and spent $40.

This may sound like a stretch, but, believe it or not, my great-grandfather, father's side, was hacked to pieces with a machete by Pancho Villa and fed to the ranch dogs while the family was forced to watch. He was a mine and ranch owner in southern Chihuahua.
Great-grand had hung two of PVs men for cattle rustling the day before. I guess PV had some anger issues.

There wasn’t much I was interested in shown in the photos, and I couldn’t go yesterday because I was working.
Ran over there this morning to see what I could find, and it was 50% off today.
Not a lot left, but managed to spend $4 on a
Billings Adjustable Wrench, Most of a can of Tung Oil, New can of Spar Urethane, a couple metal trays, and a copper pipe assembly I should be able to get quite a few metal smithing projects out of.
There wasn’t much I was interested in shown in the photos, and I couldn’t go yesterday because I was working.
Ran over there this morning to see what I could find, and it was 50% off today.
Not a lot left, but managed to spend $4 on a

Nah, I believe you. It's too audaciously bold for a lie. Honestly, I don't know the machete's lineage, but it is legit Viva la Revolucion era with an awesome inscription: "CUANDO ME VEAS RELUCIR PREPATE A BUEN MORIR". Found a couple years ago at a flea market and first reported here on the GS thread, of course. Most of the story on identifying it, which involved Mrs. @Old Radar, a museum in Mexico that has its brother, that jeweler standing next to me in the pic at the link, and some books on loan from Princeton library, is on the 'Knives' thread, the rest is on the Lugzsonian thread.
Wow, I really hope that's a wildly embellished story! I had a grandfather that would do stuff like that (tell me weird stories) when I was young.

Unfortunately, it's not in the least embellished. The surviving family was marched north to the border--about 300 miles over horrible country, and expelled from Mexico.
The hacienda was near the town of Hidalgo Del Parral, on the Camino Real Derecho, in far SW Chihuahua State. When the family was driven out, some of the family retainers dynamited the silver mines and they've never been re-located.
Pancho Villa is not popular in my family.

Saw a box of wrenches at the Flea Market today.....
Pulled out a bunch of SK's and made a complete set from 5/16 to 15/16
The Flea Market Dude made me a solid deal
I added a little 1/4 and an SK Wayne 1" that I have here in my SK box.....

I got out to one Estate sale - one other sale was a lie...
Not much, but not skunked $8 for: a shoehorn - needing these more and more, between not as flexible as I once was, and the ****** walking shoes are harder and harder to get into... NOS nylon rope, old can of 3 in one, and two partial bottles of Lemon oil:
The two partial bottles became one full one - and I kept the glass as it was bigger, but the plastic bottle was also becoming brittle. You know Its near impossible to find lemon oil these days, and what I do find is $$$
And the 3 in one cleaned up: I now have 3 of these, I'll have to see if they are identical or have differences. but .73 cents? that was a long time ago!
