should name his shop “By Dawn’s Early Light.”
No shop, just a parts washer with 2 vices attached on the back porch. Everything else is inside where I can keep an eye on it.
I really want to move and get a garage, but unless I can buy won't be moving as rental prices and security are **** elsewhere.
Living in Vet disability accommodation so at least I know I won't be kicked out, unlike everywhere else .
And I'm sure the rental mangers will be impressed with my wall art if they ever inspect, still waiting after 4 years for my first inspection ( going to be rebuilt at some stage ,they don't care)

I’m in about same boat. Finally got a portion of veteran disability enabled almost four years ago. I am very familiar with maximizing the space you got available, so you’re doing amazing work. Just make sure you do not put all those wall boxes on one wall, and if you do so… definitely not over the head of your bed. 🫸🫷All the free advice I got for ya, 😄you killin’ it, Man. ✊

Yeah… he showed up with some good questions in vise thread, and gradually revealed more, then more. It has been quite amusing/entertaining, as well as impressive. 😄👌 😂

Uh spoiler, don't really get any visitors apart from 'She who I let in the door'
At least I can show interested people here, learn some stuff and not have any or many eye-rolls when I do.

And I did start slow, you can see the one's that visit that just want to take not give anything, didn't want to come across like that as That's not me.

And thankyou for your comment.

Speaking of Rem Line, I picked up this top box and mid box over the summer. Had the bottom box for a long time now. I couldn't find a mid box with the old logo to match the others. All the examples near me were in really bad shape. This is works for now.

I was holding out for the 10 drawer chest. Saw a few for more than I wanted to pay, or had a newer badge.

I may have had a little stuff up thou, got a bit carried away, and actually was quite enjoying the interactions, been a good night.
How ever my first visitor for 4 weeks is arriving in 3 hours and I haven't been to sleep in 2 and a half days - OOPs - My brother visits once a year, lives in Southern California for 11 months, 7am here, he is arriving at 10 am. Think I'll pull a couple of vices out of the molasses and clean them up so I stay awake till then, hmmm.
Anyway thankyou for the company, Happy New Years all.

Nice boxes. You could post them in the Craftsman Heritage thread, based on the logo style.

(to find that thread, I just went up to the sticky at the top of the vintage tools page and scrolled down to the Craftsman section and chose the appropriate one).

Not a toolbox but it has an art deco style? Could this be from one of the big three tool makers?
When I saw it, i thought merchandiser, torn down. But really unsure. I doubt it’d be a Graco, because it does not have that metal ripple trim, but maybe a Natkin & Co…
Here is a link included to some more. it may give you a lead, Boss. The crossbar in back makes here seem pretty solid, merchandiser station, or not… She is cool. 👍

Dreamer that bottom shelf is, if I'm not mistaken, a bookshelf. I've seen them on other specialty workbench tables. I'm thinking tech stations for carbs, alternator/generator work, or the like.

Been lurking a good year now, since I picked up a 40's era Snap-On KR-61 Superchest. But I just nabbed a KR-300B Rolla-Bench yesterday with the light, and wanted to do some old fashioned show and tell.
It was a bit of a reach price-wise, but I just kept coming back to the ad and pixel peeped the vise to accurately ID it as a Wilton Toddler 825 swivel base. I made an offer with the intention of selling the vise to cover the cost and come out sparkling.
My original plan was to stack the boxes, but that was before I noticed the light. Also, I've already decided against the idea of selling the vise as it feels like sacrilege to do that now as they've been together their whole lives, and who the hell am I to break up a happy couple. I would rather move some other things to cover the cost. I am looking forward to using as it is, after some cleaning and polishing.
And I will NOT restore this. I'm a firm believer in "It's only original once". Especially when it comes to things that are meant to be used.
It's still in the back of the wagon while I sort where it's going. It's waaaay too nice out(54 degrees AND sunny the first week of the new year?!) to get my hands dirty with that. Gonna hop on the bike and burn off some of the holiday indulgences. I'll get some proper photos of it and date it once it's out.

Congrats on your find, that is a beautiful set. That vise really sets it off. I too have decided not to refinish the vintage set I found.

Glad to have it and stop thinking about whether or not I should get it. The plate for the vise looks like a snap-on accessory, or it's expertly made. Perfect contours. It's part of why I decided it needs to stay put.

ShearLuck, you are pretty close to me, location wise. I kept seeing that ad but I have too many boxes as it is. Nice pickup!
Nice. Yeah, the price was end of the rainbow, but I threw a reasonably risky offer out there, and I think they kinda just didn't think much of the Wilton, probably because it's small. Got lucky. I knew someone else had to be eyeing that thing.

Tipped it out out the wagon for a second while the sun was out to search for a date code, and get some detail photos on the vise markings(upside down "No-5" cast under Chicago is a mystery). That paint fade almost matches the car now. And same as with the superchest topper, I can't find any markings anywhere. But it is between 1951 and 53 with the lamp style and badging.
You can see that vise's base plate better and the detail of the odd upside down "No-5" casting.
I'm gonna pull everything apart and do some functional clean/lube. Then track down some matching wheels to replace what's on the casters before I park it and load it up.

I missed out on this one back in October due to work, and I've been kicking myself ever since. It was located in northern Indiana. I found a later one (1956), but I prefer the older badges and the KR431 drawer add-on.

Anyone here grab this one? If so, send me a message when you get ready to sell it.

Another Kennedy! A 520 this time... my shop is starting to look like a vintage Kennedy collection--or where old, junky tool boxes/chests go to die.

Is that red and yellow keel over the decal, or did the decal smear?

53581045072_ac03952716_b.jpg

Whoah! We got drawers!

I'll give it the same treatment as the others: A quick sponge-bath, a rub-down with mineral spirits and then a very light coat of BLO. I'm going to keep the worn felt (for now) as nothing seems to have taken up residence in this box.

I think this one will replace the Utica chest behind it in the first picture. It'll fill the space better and allow for a little more fine-grained organizing. The Utica can go on my welding cart for welding odds and ends.
I have a large kennedy tool chest , how much do you think is worth, with tool and die tools in it , and who would buy local to me in Tennessee? thank you

This is on my local Facebook Marketplace. I have no interest nor any room but I thought the box was cool enough to share/save pics after the ad disappears:

That is cool! did they post the dimensions or mfg of the box? If its std height then it looks really wide.
"Chest has 13 drawers up top, 1 large drawer below face door + some lower storage below drawer, next to wheel. Cabinet measurements: 36"W x (w/o the handle, with handle = 40") x 18 1/4" D x 36 1/2" H. Vintage green COLUMBIA Vise is attached to top of tool chest. #603. "

Not a toolbox, obviously, but I snagged this Excelsior key at the flea market this morning on the "ya never know" principle...

20250112_133908.jpg20250112_133840.jpg

..., as in ya never know if it will fit a toolbox with an Excelsior latch missing its key, such as this Hinsdale master mechanics set box!

Hinsdale 12.jpg

It doesn't but, ya never know..., so into the small odds and ends drawer it goes. :)
