Bought my first home a few weeks ago and the attached 2 car garage was drywalled and painted but thats it not a screw sticking out anywhere. One stinking outlet and one stinking light.

Well over the last few weeks, I have built 2 shelf units, a small workbench, added 3 fluorescent lights (on there own switch) and an outlet behind the workbench. I will prly add another outlet on other side of garage and another fluorescent fixture. I also added some misc hooks etc for hanging stuff. Hopefully before winter I will add heat for when I am tinkering in the garage, as well come spring I will prly do a floor covering of sorts.

This website has been great for info so I just wanted to share my pics.

Thanks

Where did you install your additional outlet? On the ceiling, or on a wall?

My garage was done the same way. 1 frickin' outlet on the back wall! I've been meaning to rectify that for a while now but things keep coming up and I keep pushing it back or forgetting...

But yours is looking good so far!

its actually below the workbench, if you see the green power strip its literally on the wall straight back from there I can snap a pic. Was gonna run a new circuit or tap off the existing garage outlet which has its own circuit but I believe there are studs ran horizontal in the garage walls for fireproofing (i could be wrong but my stud finder says otherwise). On the otherside of that wall is my kitchen nook/eating area with 3 outlets on there own 20amp circuit so I tapped that

Ahh... Good idea! As I said, I've been wanting to add outlets, but one obstacle is the big fireplace I have in the middle of my back wall, making it difficult to wire around it. The only option that came to mind was going up through the wall, then around the fireplace in the attic, then back down where I wanted the drop, which is why I've been putting it off (in that area there's about 3' of space and about 135 degrees worth of heat & humidity...).

Congratulations, pentavolvo on the home purchase. You are going to have a lot of fun making your space the way you want it and are already off to a good start.

Nice GT, I spotted the Windveil Blue right away in the garage. It reminded me of my son's '06, although after may thou$and$ and countless hours we have invested, it looks nothing like it's former self.

I look forward to updates as you continue to tweak your new place. Good luck.
