That"s a puller for faucet handles. The slide handle is either NB or SK, hard to tell from here. Went with male plug and extensions

Edit: the pliers, maybe Boker. Just a guess by the shape, not the grip.

Not that 3bay needs any backup, but I was about to say NB on that female sliding tee, if that helps confirm it for you. On the pliers, I have to admit the box joint and jaws don't jump out at me as Utica, but the grips are a Utica style grip. Having said that, it's unusual for them not to be branded, so maybe a knockoff or European. I consider @LesserSon a Utica guy, and he may be more confident.

My buddy lives between Texarkana and my place so we stopped at his place to unload his stuff and swap my trailer back to my Excursion. We were in no big hurry and we poked around his stuff a bit and I spied this Wilton C0. It's in rough shape, it's frozen, doesn't have a swivel base, the handle is bad, the collar is missing and the collar screws are broken off AND the main nut has the pins sheared off and is loose. But for $20 I couldn't pass it up!

You ****! Can't wait to see you restore that!

Still too cold for garage sales around here. But I did stop at two decent sales:

#1 was an Advance Auto that was closing, they had 95% off EVERYTHING. Of course, I was late to the show, and it was pretty picked over. But I did get several oil filters for all my cars, **** tons of fuses, circuit breakers, flashers (bought way too many flashers; I didn't have my glasses and I thought they were relays, lol), some actual relays, hose fittings, brass fittings, wiring harnesses for stereos and trailers, button cell batteries, etc:


It was over $1400 worth of stuff, 105 items, for $72. My receipt was about 6ft long, lol.

#2 was a local place that sells electronic surplus items. They are selling their business too, so they made me a deal on a pile of Arduino sensors, carrier boards, panel meters, relay boards, wiring harnesses, fuse holders, and ice cube relays:


$40 for that pile.

I didn't really need any of this stuff at the moment, but this was a good day to fill the parts bins!

Picked up a few tools for $30. Mostly was after the 3/8 Craftsman speeder wrench and the Vise Grips (real ones not the China stuff). Also I love the vintage Stanley screwdrivers so I'll pick them up anytime I can for cheap even though I have and an already absurd number of screwdrivers. The others were cheap enough (screwdrivers/bit drivers for $1 each). I didn't realize until I got home that the 1/4 spinner handle (Craftsman 43393) was a later made in China copy and it shows since that handle is bent even though it is unused.

Thanks everyone. I mentioned on the vise thread that the only reason I managed to get it was the two people that messaged first offered less than half his asking price. I made no bones about paying full price. I figured someone would have offered more than asking price well before I would be able to get there. I know most people like a deal, but you also can't risk missing the rare stuff.

I know some of you may have thought that $20 C0 Wilton I got was going to be a long project. I had some doubts myself. But today I wanted to do some work on it and see if I could get it unstuck.

I started by using an angle grinder with a wire wheel to get as much rust off the slide as I could. Then I used my Mapp gas torch to heat up the main body and tried to close the vise a little. It moved!!! So then I took out the handle and main nut and started tapping it with my Estwing hand sledge on alternate sides. It started moving out and after about 10 minutes it was all the way out!!! I was ecstatic!
So then I cleaned up the vise a bit with the cup wire brush. I looked at the broken collar bolts and thought I might be able to get the longest one out. I heated up the area, sprayed it with lube and it came out with the Vise Grips easily! Hmm maybe I can get the kinda stubby one out? Repeat procedure, got it! Now for the really stubby one. It took a few trys but it came out too! Whoop Whoop!
Next I wanted to see if I could get the main nut and tail cap pins out. A proper punch and tap tap right out!
Finally I wanted to see if I could salvage the stuck handle. I wire wheeled the shaft and after a few good picks with the hand sledge I got it loose too!

So I'm SUPER HAPPY! I've got to get a collar and screws, tail cap pins and 1 jaw screw. All the jaws look pretty good and the jaw ledge supports look good too. I might have a swivel base for it in my stash. Total time doing all this was less than 2 hours!

Thats a royal YOU **** from me. in 1950 it was about 38 cents a pound. I'd say with inflation you've done exceptional.

Another week at Estate Sale.....
With one item that has me confused, a branding iron. I have cleaned it up quite a bit and it has been used. It is the actual emblem on the brand that has me confused. I have also shown a picture of it in a mirror so that the actual brand looks like applied.

Unmarked body hammer. Plomb 24 oz Ball peen hammer head. True Temper Brick hammer head.
KD 1455 Snap Ring pliers.
Matco right angle hand pick.
Hog ring pliers marked Deckers Hill Ringer.

3/8 drive Craftsman sockets: 3/4 ee44337, 3/8 ee44343, 3/8 ee43001, 1/4 ee44341, 5/16 ee44342, 9/16 v44334, 3/8 g43001, 1/2 v,
9mm 9-44342, 11mm ee44309, two 13mm ee44304 & v44304.

3/8 drive: SK 7/16 deep well 40414, Allied 3/8, Thorsen 9/16 318

1/2 drive" Craftsman 9/16 9-44056

I just have no idea why someone would use the GE logo, which is somewhat unconventional and a complicated brand. This branding iron may possible be used for some other purpose than livestock? I hope not GE employees

Have you ever read Irons in the Fire by John McPhee? I think you'll like it. It's the title of a collection of long "stories" (if you're not familiar, McPhee, one of my favorite authors, writes non-fiction, but in narrative form), and that particular story or essay, on the history of cattle brands (and, inextricably, cattle rustling), has McPhee riding around the state of Nevada with an inspector.

I can see wooden crates being branded. I can also see GE having a small herd from a legacy purchase, or something like that.

And, yes, Irons in the Fire by McPhee is wonderful, and I was thinking about it as I passed that info along.

That has to be for branding wood. As you probably know from working cattle, a livestock brand avoids small, closed areas as the skin inside those areas would die and slough off.
