I've found mention of these in several other threads, but not a thread dedicated to them. If I missed it, please, mods, move this!

I picked up this tiny clamp today:

P/N 401. Scale on the mat is 1 cm.

I'm not sure just how "vintage" these are, but his one is stamped Pat. App, so pre-patent.

No idea what I can use this for, but it was just too damned cute to leave behind for a buck and won't take up much space. I'm guessing with all the copper-plated bits on it it's meant for welding.

Now to find the rest of them!

Because my computer crashed over a year ago and I LOST the "KANT TWIST" folder I had back-burnered.
I did a deep dive on that one. Interesting company. Glad you started a dedicated thread for it.

I like them. For some applications, they are the only thing that works. A great option to have available.
But what the hell do you use a clamp with a 1" max opening for? The throat is about 3/4", but changes as you open it to 1/2" when fully open--which takes some doing as it's so small. It's cute as all get-out, true, but what is it good for?

This size seems more like a salesman's model than a real tool.

^ currently the 2-inch size models are in the #30-$40 range on ebay. apparently they're well thought of. there are a few online distributors offering them but I didn't check price or availability.
sorry I lost all that material in that crash... I had way more stuff than what ITCL has.

I have a pair of the 3/4" ones. Handy for small precision stuff. I have two of just about every size up to the whopper 12", which now sell for north of $200. I worked in a shop that had an Enco knock-off, but I've never seen another one, so I assume they got into patent trouble over it. The Enco was made out of thinner stampings, and was a piece of ****.

-A lot of molds and stamping dies have small components that need machining, surface grinding, and/or EDM work. I have tiny angle plates and fixtures that would use a clamp like that to hold the component while machining it. I much prefer parallel clamps over Kant Twist but that's just a personal preference.

Tool and die work on small stamping dies, and great for holding parts while transfer punching.

I clamp 1/4" thick material to other 1/4" thick material. Other stuff too, but that is one application. They can be very handy. Other times they are a royal pita. Really need two hands to use them effectively.
