Being real honest I don’t need this but it would be real sweet and if it doesn’t exist I’m open to drilling a hole and trying to modify one as a fun project.

i want to be able to use a tekton multi bit screwdriver as a 3/8 drive nutdriver. But none of the socket adapters I seen have the ball bearing detent thing. Maybe I can drill a hole in one and put something in there like that to lock it in place. This is for a small mobile toolkit to maximize options with a small number of tools.

if nothing exists what could I stuff in a hole drilled in a regular socket adapter that would give it some friction? Idk how to get a ball bearing in there I’m guessing it’s a very precise hole just smaller than the ball bearing and you put a small spring inside and then use a press to force the bearing in. I don’t got access to a press.

Maybe I can just shove some plastic piece in there for some friction. Maybe melt some plastic and let it harden and then file it down to be about the ball shape on the original kind. This isn’t going to be something I use regularly.

gonna post some pics of the two

Yea I want to be able to pop 3/8 shallow sockets on the screwdriver handle to make a nut driver. Wouldn’t really use it above 13 mm but the mobile socket set I keep with this driver is all 3/8

Gotta be easier than all this:

Megapro makes exactly what you want. They have both 1/4 and 3/8 adaptors.
thanks man that looks perfect idk if it will lock in place with the Tekton but for under 10 bucks I will give it a try it’s exactly what I was looking for but idk if the exact placement of the friction ball matters

do you own either the 1/4 or 3/8? Wondering what multi screwdrivers they work in from your experience

there is an inexpensive 1/4" one in this bit set

actually two, a short one that I use with my Vessel ratcheting screwdriver and a longer one that looks like it's for use with a power screwdriver. Both have detents. (those are the two items in the upper right of the lid.) This is a surprisingly useful set; I've bought it several times and have stashed them in various places at home and there's one in my filing cabinet at work. I am guessing I am using this for a very similar reason you are, I want a minimalist set of stuff so I also have an S-K 1/4" socket set in my drawer rather than having a full set of nutdrivers.

If you need to drive 3/8" sockets you could just pop on an adapter.
