I am considering the options available for Milling machines for relatively limited space, and I really like the Precision Matthews PM-940m PDF. I realize this unit is a bit more expensive than other options, but with other options i've found I can't get them to deliver a mill and a stand to my residential shop, so that is the main reason I am strongly considering the PM-940M PDF. I'm wondering if anyone here has one and can share their experience with it? Basically I interested to know what the customer service is like at precision matthews, as well as what the reliability is like of the 940m or any of their other mills? Thanks in advance for any input!

I have several Precision Mathews pieces of equipment in my home shop. I purchased a PM1340GT (Taiwanese) lathe and PM935TV (Taiwanese) milling machine back in 2014. I looked specifically at the 940 because my budget was already stretching, but I really wanted a knee mill and floor space was much more limited in my last shop. I ended up stepping up to the smaller bodied knee mill (935) and have been very impressed. All of my Precision Mathews equipment have been excellent pieces of shop equipment. I have also purchased a horizontal and vertical bandsaw from Matt @ Precision Mathews the year later as well as a few accessory items since and he really took care of me. Customer service is top shelf.

So much in fact, that when my son was looking for his CNC milling machine after building our new shop, he reached back out to Matt and purchased it through him. It is basically the same as the 940 that you are looking at, but being the CNC version I think it is a PM45, but basically the same thing as the PM940M but in CNC flavor. I don't think he offers it any longer. My son has had his for about 7 years now.

Thank you for sharing, this is extremely helpful! I think my mind is completely made up now, the only drag is that the PM-940m is way back ordered, but I can deal with that lol. But this is very helpful to know you've had a good experience with their equipment for the last 11 years, because its always a concern for me when looking at Chinese / Taiwanese machines, just how durable they will be, the QC is like and so on. Thank you for sharing!

Btw, I just noticed your youtube channel, do you happen to have any videos where your using your PM935TV mill, or the PM45 mill?

I don't think my son has any video of his CNC mill in operation. However, I have a full review of the PM935TV mill on my channel as well as many of my videos contain machining operations involving my mill.

You're welcome. Even on PM's Chinese machines, Matt really does a great job spec'ing his machines out with upgraded bearings and such to make them just a cut above the average import machine. His Taiwanese machines are excellent and very high quality castings as well as components.

If you have any specific questions to that machine you are looking at, have you tried going over to hobbymachinest.com forum? There are a lot of guys who have PM machines over there. Back when I was looking in 2014 there wasn't much information available, but now there are a lot of guys with his machines.

Awesome, I guess the 940TV model is just a bit above my budget, but I do really really like the 940m PDF version. I think I'm sold on that one now!
