So My girlfriend was going through our sunday paper cutting out coupons, and I had her toss me the harbor freight flyer (we have a store in our town). At the top I noticed a coupon for a free 6 pc screwdriver set, no purchase necessary! So I clipped the coupon and headed over today after work. I walked in, showed the cashier the coupon, and he handed me my new free screwdriver's. I think they're U.S. General, made in china, they have pretty tiny handles on them, but they're long and skinny so they look like they would be perfect for interior work etc. I mean it's no snap-on but hey they're free! Anybody else take advantage of this deal?

I picked up a free set about a year ago with a coupon. They are a little light, but like you say, for interior work they are fine.

They are not that bad actually. I keep them in the trunk of my car.

The flyer in my Sunday paper showed a picture of the Pittsburgh screwdrivers (black handles.) When I presented to the checker, she tried to give me the skinny ones you're talking about. I pointed out the picture and she reluctantly gave me the ones in the picture. They seem a little more robust than the crappy ones you got. I now have 3 sets...;)

Oh yeah, I try to avoid that particular checker but didn't have a choice that day.

Yea, I think the coupon is for either the skinny set, or the good black set. Just grab the set you want off the shelf.
Last time they did it I got one of each. The skinny set is good for electrical stuff, tight areas, etc.. The black set if fairly robust. Certainly good enough for around the house.

Not yet but I will. I know I'll pass a HF before the coupon expires. Can't beat the deal.

Just an FYI, you can get the "free" junk coupon & the 20% off coupon from the net anytime you need one.

Last time I was at HF I picked up a pair of the multi purpose scissors. I've used them once. So far so good. I've also picked up several of the flashlights. I've never seen the multimeter or the screwdriver coupons before. I have seen the tape measure one but that's few and far between.

Hmm i may need to try and find some more of these free stuff coupons. I'd like to get the black-handled set too. And I wish I had seen that multimeter one before i spent $1.99 on one :) (i swear I bought it just to check battery voltages lol, no major electrical diagnosis with it. It's still in the box somewhere around here). I'm not really much of a fan of harbor freight but I am definitely a fan of free stuff. I was surprised to see how much metalworking equipment they had for sale (english wheel, shrinker/stretcher, planishing hammer, etc) but I'm sure a lot of that stuff would probably cause more frustration than productivity

Free ChiDrivers is not enough inducement to get me to go a-HarFing.

Free ChiLathe? Yes. Wake me up when they're giving away free lathes.

I've used those screwdrivers before... No heat treating what so ever and when you try tightening a screw it strips the phillips tip.

Ahh, someone else has had that experience.

They reminded me of the screwdrivers that I used as a kid. The soft tip quickly rounded, and rapidly got worse because they then rounded the fastener head. (In retrospect, those screwdrivers likely ended up in the kitchen or my toolbox because they sucked.)

I love the flashlights, but haven't bothered with another screwdriver set. The only reason I was holding onto the ones I got was the hope they would discontinue the give-away. In a few years I could then get a warranty replacement with a better style. But if they keep giving them away, they'll keep the crappy version in stock as replacements.

I got the free screwdrivers a while ago, i picked up 2 sets so far and am going to be on my 3rd. They aren't that great, good to keep in the back of a car or snowmobile.

Here there is a 4X PDF file for free scissors, screwdrivers, and a multimeter (with purchase).

Also found a free headlamp with purchase.

The screwdriver tips are working good for me. I'm sure they won't last forever, but screwdrivers never do.

Need to stock up on flashlights, screwdrivers, and scissors. Can NEVER have enough of those 3 items.
