Pulled the Yukon in the garage for an oil change, check fluid in front and rear diff, air up the spare, etc.

IMG_2938.jpg

Cleaned and straightened the garage some and mopped the floor.

Realized that I forgot to clean out the shop vac the last time I vacuumed something wet. Had a nice science project going on inside. Ordered a few new filters for it while I was at it.

Yesterday and today.
Had my finger joint jig set up for another quick job so I made a storage box for these box clamps I picked up awhile back.

Jury is still out on the clamps, but I’m pleased with how the box turned out

Hung up the new hand cleaner pump. Moved the paper towel rack. Finished some decorations. Stuffed boxes with orders for shipping. Faffed about with Lightburn. Burned rubber to make a stamp. Hung up my saturated plowing suit. Cleaned my hands with Cherry Bomb. Washed brushes.

You did all that with lower back pain? 😲

One late night on eBay I discovered that Chevrolet made hardware posters in the early 1950’s. I got a pair. Today I framed them using Amazon frames. Replaced the fiberboard backing for acid free foam board.

Thought they’d look cool in the shop.

Yeah, why? I'm used to pushing through pain to get things done. I've been doing it since I was 19.
Lately my ability to push through pain and fatigue is lessening. Until 2 years ago, I would be working in the garage long after guys half my age were inside watching ball games and drinking beer.

Now, I am able to work on projects about 3 hours a day before I have to take it easy. But that's 3 hours more than I was able to do before going to a competent doctor. So that is a big plus.

It's a standard process to reset it when you do an oil change.

The Camry here turns it on at 5K.

It may be standard if you know about it. You are assuming I've ever seen such, This is the newest car we have ever had (18 years old now) and older cars don't have such contraptions. In nearly 3 years barely driven it 10K miles. Drove it 3-4 K before its first oil change for me. If this happened to it before, I don't remember it - but its in the Log I keep now.

The only "Planned maintenance" light" I've ever seen befor was on Samurais, for changing the timming belt every 60K...

Join the club. Between work in the shop and the driveway, I'm cooked.

3 hours of smart work beats 8 hours of floundering, use your down time to prepare!

Broke the “cable, clutch” that goes from the squeeze handle to the drive disk mechanism. Spring end broke off. I had broken the other one, that goes to the auger drive, a couple of years ago.

Looking at the sticky label on the package, “a couple years ago” turns out to have been 2016. I was surprised by that.

Finished organizing the NewAge cabinet drawers with their included dividers.. (so much nicer than catch-all drawers) easier to keep things sorted it seems.

Finally clleaned up the workbench and got tools in the new HF cart. Brushed on the first coat of clear poly on the top FIL made me for our old Singer sewing machine table. Trying to figure out how to mount it. The current top was made by my brother in shop class in high school and he used carriage bolts. I cant use screws from the bottom as I am afraid they will just pull out when someone moves the table, the top is really the only way to move. Do those threaded wood inserts hold well?

Painted and assembled an ornament.
Looked at what I brought back from dad's garage.
His workmate. It's heavier and stronger than the one i have.

Cordless yard tools. Dad had no brand loyalty so I now have two other types of batteries. I had three types but I gave the leaf blower to my brother.

Picked up the engine block from machine shop jail on Friday for the '73 Mustang build. Painted it Saturday. This will be a 10:1 347 for the '73 Mustang that my parents dated in (Dad bought it new). Getting it back on the road for them to enjoy. This is the original numbers-matching block.

Whipped up this hose clamp storage unit Saturday night out of a few pushrods, exhaust valves, and intake valves. I should make another one, but as it is, this freed up two drawers.

IMG_8265large.JPG

Spent Sunday filing rings and assembling pistons/rods.

Weekend project. Modified the fuel (direct injection) system on my son’s ATS V so he can run E85, crank up the boost and throw some timing to it.
Dropped exhaust, diff cooler lines, driveshaft, and fuel tank to swap low pressure fuel pump

IMG_0529.jpeg
Swapped cam and high pressure fuel pump. That’s the fuel pump behind the head there. It’s driven by the last lobe on the lower (exhaust) cam.
IMG_0546.jpeg
This little tool, borrowed from a friend of my son’s, is handier than a shirt on a pocket. It holds the cam sprocket in place allowing removal of the cam without disturbing valve timing.

E85 flex fuel sensor plugs into the OEM computer.
IMG_0552.jpeg
Almost finished the 93 tune, I’m about to dump some E85 in it now. We should get 600+ rwhp out of this 230 cu in TT V6. On 93 at 22 psi it pulls like a freight train whacking on it at 80 mph 😳. My CTS V runs high tens and I believe I’ll hand my hands full next time we visit the track. I know if I’m not in front at 1/8 mile, I won’t be running him down.

just running lights out back. Drivers side is wired for turn signal and reverse. But dinner time was close to decipher the wires for the latter two on passenger side.

put in an order for Bright Orange pinstriping last night so the wife can match it up on her cricut machine for a Canadian flag that will go under the Bronco script on the fenders Or perhaps the quarter panel.

after dinner it was hit up the Bronco vendor sites and write down a list to order by April.

today is undecided…..I am leaning to wiring the sniper back up and firing it up once again. That will definitely be bragging rights when I back to work Tuesday.

Second coat of cabinet door paint. Moving onto drawers next but need to strip the wallpaper inside them and replace the center rollers.
20250215_173827.jpg

Replaced this grungy and broken outlet, lightswitch and cover with a new while waiting for paint to dry.
20250126_123759.jpg20250215_150142.jpg

And wiped down the bessey vise. It was covered in shavings and oily substances.

At this point, anyone under about 30-35 should be able to help.
@Outlawmws, you're right. Our oldest grandchild is 33 and youngest is 22. When I whip out my digital camera and tripod to take a photo of the family (I think it's around 28 now), they all go WOW! I actually took my Samsung A12 out of my office the other day and saw a pearl pink electric Mustang. Whipped out my phone, selected the camera icon and pressed a white button on the screen (THREE TIMES), thinking I would show a photo of the Mustang. My phone has no evidence of that vehicle anywhere. I have somehow taken quite a few photos and videos with the phone and have found them but it's hit and miss. My phone is best left on a charger.

Fought with a recalcitrant printer. It looks like it may be my PC.
Kay, there might be a flu going around. The Epson ink tank printer started spitting gobbledygook messages and one-liners. PC was playing a symphony of CBS and NBC ringtones coming from who knows where. The Brother PT-D600 refused to print labels so I suspected something other than the actual printers was FUBAR. Ran some diagnostics that did something with the print spooler software. I waved a boneless, skinless chicken breast over and blew some smoke in the PC and it all seems to be working again. I feel like John Snow from Game of Thrones: "You know nothing, John Snow Bob Heine!!!"

Finally had to put gas in the snowblower.
We moved from the Hudson Valley to South Florida in 1975. Left the snowblower behind along with all the snow shovels, ice chippers and windshield scrapers. Two years later in snowed in Boca Raton and even in Miami. I immediately bought a leaf blower and every time a cold front headed our way I aimed the leafblower outlet to the North and turned it on. Not sure it does any good but it hasn't snowed in Miami (or Boca Raton) since. I switched to a battery powered leaf blower a couple of years ago and it looks like that was a mistake. The snow buried Northern Florida in the white stuff. Maybe it's time for a dozen or two hair dryers aimed North.

Based on the fact that the procedure was successful, I assume that you bowed to the east and swung the chicken over your head in a counter clockwise manner.

Although to be honest, I've always used a whole chicken, so it's good to know that a chicken breast will work too.
