Thanks!
These seem to be the only solution for cross beam wrenches. I'll give 'em a go.

EDIT: Shopping at the Ernst website I see the set for 40 wrenches is $39.95 retail, $37.95 delivered from their store in the "jungle".

I really try to avoid Amazon so looking elsewhere I see JB Tools carries them at "20% off" from an inflated retail price of $47.44 so $37.95 plus shipping. This deceptive practice by JB Tools has just put a few more $ in Sr. Bezos coffers. I tried

I realize they save more space than laying flat, but they’re still not good enough. You could easily put the wrenches closer together and gain far more room.

The only way it would save more space would be to have the wrenches vertical but you wouldn't be able to read the wrench size other than the sticker on the holder. I also wouldn't be able to fit my 32mm wrench in the drawer if it was vertical.

It was a lot of work. Measured the thickness of every wrench and how close I could get them together. I then used a Bridgeport to mill the slots and I pressed the aluminum into the slots. I have four drawers for wrenches and this took me days to make.
Awesome work, but also explains why more people don’t have them. I could do something similar out of wood, but like @51dueller said, my larger wrenches couldn’t stand up in the 2” drawer of my Lista box.

No Bridgeport here but those look nice.

When I needed more room for wrenches. . . I did it the easy way. I bought more boxes. Yes, seriously.

I remember seeing your work in another thread, absolutely beautiful!

I've been thinking about doing it in wood, or maybe borrowing a 3d printer.

I remember seeing you show these in other posts and I figured you slotted some solid blocks, I didn't realize you had separate pieces pressed into the bases. You had me thinking about making some, but my wrench drawer is too shallow to have my big wrenches upright. Great job!

They hold everything in place rolling the cart around the shop. I just wish Ernst would jump on the purple bandwagon.

I prefer the Protoco Wrenchracks. The magnetic models are a little more expensive, but hold very well through drawer liner.

The thing to watch out for, when you have big wrenches like @gizardlizard has, is how deep of a drawer you need. His appear to be standing up. Looks like he’s using a 3 or 4” drawer. I want my wrenches in the shallowest drawer I can get away with. I think several of the drawers in my KRL are under 2” deep.

Last, maybe it’s just me, but I prefer labeled socket holders and unlabeled wrench holders. The Wrenchrack leans the wrenches over so you can read their size markings, and doesn’t concel the center of the wrench where some wrenches are marked.

I move/reorder my wrenches, so the labels would bother me. For a while I had 10mm and 10mm ratcheting adjacent, same with 13mm. I was using them more, and inserting the ratchets helped me find them faster.

I could also imagine arranging my wrenches out of order. Exampke: 9,11, 8,10,13 12,14, 15,16,18, 17, 19 (spaces added for effect). Wrenches could be grouped based on task/commodity. The size arrangement is pretty arbitrary if you think of it.

I was pretty happy with my toolbox widgets, did have a few of them that were defective but they replaced them about three to one for each bad one so they more than made up for it. The new version of them appear to have all the problems gone, made of a different plastic and have a different magnet retention method. They're a little pricey compared to some of them but they give you a ton of room as you can really pack wrenches in. They also have a lifetime warranty. Since they have the bugs work out of them Snap-on is carrying them now also.20250224_140012.jpg
That is approximately 210 wrenches in the top drawer of a 29-in deep 72-in Masters series. I like the widgets because you can stagger them where you can't with the Ernst. I still have some room and since I took that picture I added 10 midget ratcheting wrenches and still have space for a few more small ones.

My drawers are 2” in height.

My drawers are 2” in height.
Thanks.

This is what I'm talking about just in case an alternative helps anyone out there: This drawer is 1-11/16" deep. Std thin KRL drawer.

Snap On sizes are marked such that they are pretty easy to read regardless of the storage rack. Note that the Protoco racks come in regular and reverse. Above aren't all the same racks just turned 180 degrees. And I have 12 space and 15 space racks.

I think the green looks better than the yellow.

This is what happens in a really thin (Kennedy) Drawer. This drawer is like 1" deep. And the cork is like 3/16" or 1/4" which is dumb.

I have tried them and as others mentioned, the magnets are indeed strong enough. There's another thread about these when they came out branded as Tekton.

Having ordered many boxes of these, my recommendation would be to order directly from Ernst or another reputable retailer. Amazon is full of counterfeits and knockoffs already. One time, I purchased magnetic Wrench Pros and got the version without magnets. I had to jump through hoops to return them and they would not send a replacement until it was confirmed that I shipped the originals.

Ernst ships quickly and usually has things to me in MI from OR in 3-4 business days. I cannot recommend them enough.

Did you order from the Ernst store on Amazon or a random seller ?

I ordered from their Amazon storefront and looking at their website, pricing is similar but shipping is where Amazon gets the nod with free Prime shipping.

I bought these specifically for wrenches that need a bit more space or don't fit conventional racks, Saltus and cross beam. They are a bit bulky and I otherwise prefer plain racks.
Here is how it works for me;

Nothing fancy here.
Just a couple alternating racks in front for wrenches up to 1”.
These are held in place with a shop made aluminum divider. This is in a 1 3/8” deep KRA drawer.
IMG_5177.jpeg
I wish the drawer was a bit deeper. Then I could stand up the last couple of short wrenches. But……..
This arrangement has been this way for 25 years, used daily for 15 years, in a box that was moved every day, over some not so smooth surfaces. YMMV.

Ernst store but fulfilled by Amazon. The latter is the issue. Now I buy enough from Ernst where I hit their $75 free shipping and skip the headache. One trip to Kohl's for an Amazon return negates any "savings" even if I do have to pay shipping.

I bought some magnetic Ernst and they are nice but some larger raised panel wrenches or rounder/thicker deep offsets like my Hazet 630 don't work so well.
I am still getting things organized in my recent 56in USG and was still wanting more wrench organizers. I found these on Amazon in 48pc sets for about the same as the Ernst. Cool part is they are individual and each has it's own magnet. However they are slightly more condensed and will accept 1 or 2 more wrenches in a 20+ lineup. The stickers are larger and easier to read too.
