POR 15 floor epoxy

I just saw in one of my magzines that POR 15 now has a floor epoxy. Has anyone had any experiance with it.
It said to check out the web page, but after I went to it there wasn't any info I could find on it.

I've got por15 drops all over my garage from various project and gave up trying to remove them a long time ago. If their metal paint hangs on to dirty unprepared concrete floor I can imagine their purpose specific stuff would be great!!

The other stuff in the deluxe kit are clearcoat and chips. I spoke with the Por15 tech today. They also have a 3.5 car deluxe kit (~800sqft) for $950. I'm looking at options for 1080sqft and was considering the Por15.

I wanted to chim in here with a little information about the New Flour Armor just released by POR-15.

First Floor Armor is a urethane technology, not Epoxy. Epoxy base coatings are brittle and very acceptable to hot tar release. Some even come with "pads" for your tire to be parked on. Not a real solution. Epoxy coatings are not only very brittle but extremely porous therefore failing much earlier in comparison

They designed the kit so there is no need for prepping with muriatic acid or flooding the floor with water. Most Floor kits require the floor to be flooded with acid before it can be applied. With Floor Armor just use the included Grease and Oil remover to neutralize oil stains, vacuum dust and dirt and paint right over it with Floor Armor. For those looking for the ultimate in protection and/or want decorative vinyl chips, they offer a clear coat kit. (Deluxe Kit) After the application of the Basic Kit, simply broadcast the vinyl chips (if desired) and then clear coat to finish.

As many are aware or have done before, The common POR-15 Rust/Metal paints worked great for concrete. The only draw back is they were not very good for "hot tire" issues and the paint would release. Floor Armor was designed to also fix that problem. No more hot tires issues.

Thats the basics of the kit, and i'll be happy to answer any tecnical questions you may have on this product or any other of the POR-15 product line.

Most solvent based also have the same issues as water based after cured. Its just an application issue in reality.

You mention hot tire pickup. What about chemical resistance? ie., brake fluid, antifreeze, acetone, etc. How does POR-15 stand up to that stuff? Do you have individual test results?

Just my .02$- I find that most epoxy products work only as well as the preparation. It takes sound concrete and the right prep to create a durable finish with epoxies. I have had great success with two part epoxies, and have added that service to my business in recent years due to high demand. If you have someone who will install the coatings for under $600, THAT sounds like a major scam by a fly by night company/person. What are they working for- A case of beer? They are probaly not installing the type of coating you want, and I am of the notion that you usually get what you pay for, but I know from experience that not matter how good a product you use, it is only as good as the base it is applied to. If you cheat the prep, you cheat yourself from a durable finish. I have seen this procedure time and time again where someone buys a product and expects it to install itself! They DO NOT properly prepare the surface, and they DO NOT properly apply the coating, and then they get pissed at the product for not working. I don't usually mind because I can come in and fix the mess, for a nominal fee. Anyway, just wanted to throw my hat in the ring and sound off. No Worries! Cheers!

I too decided to jump in feet first. I purchased the light grey deluxe kit (paint chips/clear coat) for my garage. I went with the 3 car kit which comes with an extra gallon of floor armor and more chips. I've just finsihed my 2nd coat of floor armor tonight. A couple of nuggets based on my experiences. Forget about the 3 hour pot life after mixing the two parts (4:1). It's a load for those of us who live in the southeast. My Pot life was more like 1.5 hours. Be very careful how much you mix at one time. My recommendation is to be ultra conservation with the batche sizes until you determine how fast it sets up. I lost roughly between a pint and a quart the first go round. My paint pan not has a nice rubberized puck in the bottom of it. Likewise once the paint started to set, the roller began to string out the paint

All in all, I'm pretty happy with the results so far. The second coat goes on much farther. It is amazing how well it covers. Tomorrow, I plan to put the third coat (clearcoat) down and broadcast in the chips. Stay tuned, more to come.
