Oh my gosh bro, just looking at that spaghetti wiring is giving me anxiety. I probably won't be able to sleep tonight.
Its a mess in the bilge. There's 8 pumps in there, 2 bilge, 2 live-well fill, 2 live-well pump out, 2 live-well recirculate with a timer. I've been through it 3x just to get everything functioning properly. (I'm the 3rd owner, its a 2007). The reality is it needs to be done from scratch, but the pumps circuits and switches are pretty complicated and there's zero access to the original harness. I've been through the battery box..well this will be the 4th or 5th time. The electronics in a bass boat are extensive, Power Pole, graphs, electric/ hydraulic jack plate, nema 2000 and it goes on. I've yet to see one clean enough to satisfy my OCD even on a new one. All 8 pumps work so off I go...

Want to stay up at night? I should post the pictures under the helm and controls, and its the factory harness.

To add to the chain of foolishness. I think I've got too many interests. Gardening, landscaping, home repair, auto repair, carpentry, electrical, plumbing, swimming, motorcycling, metalworking, boating, woodworking, turning, machine work, electronics, CNC laser, stained glass, painting, programming, you-name-it. And all the maintenance n whatnot that goes with them. Most folks I know have one or two things they do. I just can't imagine cutting back.
100%. We have most of the same hobbies. And I scratch build models so every little scrap is useful. I was hoping that having the ability to print the model parts I need would mean I didn't have to buy the kits. Nope, I need the kits so I can measure and duplicate the parts.
Advertise tools and supplies and they will come running from miles away.

And for me, my parents passing and going through all of their stuff. Keeping some and getting rid of a lot. It's emotionally taxing. My brother and I decided to have someone else do the estate sale. We didn't want to deal with the people. I can't imagine what it would be like dealing with people at garage sales, Craiglist of FB marketplace.

Don't stop till ya drop. I won't. While, like many others, my health is not good, and I too get too many irons in too many fires, the Reaper will have to run hell bent for election to find me. I'd rather die doing something I love that lay about in anticipation of what we all know is coming sooner or later. I think people that keep the fires burning perhaps go a little longer, and go out a little happier. But I'll have to let ya know. ;)

Which is what keeps us going. I keep watching the weather, because a shift from inside work, through doors open work, to outside work is pending. FWIW, I did sell / store a shaper and lathe I have not used in 20 years, and am also attempting to use up materials on hand. The cardboard made in USA foldable containers turn out to be inexpensive, rugged, and very space efficient for organizing.

Hope you feel better soonest.

Good plan on the estate sale. I've met mostly nice people buying and selling one thing at a time. But one person at a time is as much as I want to deal with.

And that's how I got one car to show up, and drive away because it wasn't all free.
I once got a truck load of tools for a stupid low price, 50 bucks, I made a few grand in a day having a yard sale, and did another 1500 or so on offerup and craigslist. At the yard sale, I sold a guy a body bag full of no name screw drivers and a bucket of sockets for like 20 bucks. The sockets were left over from all the sets I made, there was not a single complete set in the bucket.

Lucky you. If I offered a new snappy stack full of new snappy tools, for free, the froggers would want delivery.

I've got the same problem. I'm at saturation, and shouldn't be. I need to consume some materials, finish some projects, then go through a major reorg. As it is, my **** is affecting my ability to think. Every place I look needs something, and it's slowing my mental processes by wasting cycles on the misplaced stuff, and not the projects.
Same…

now into week five of not being allowed into my garage after a knee replacement. looking forward to getting back out there.
I thought that the modern knee procedures let you get back to things pretty quickly? I had ACL surgery back in '90, crutches for six weeks. I see a knee replacement in my future, arthritis is getting worse every year. Currently thirteen weeks post rotator/bicep surgery and will be a few more months until I get back to full duty.

My folks are in a condo, so not a lot of stuff to go through later. By the time they are gone (both in their late 80's) I will be the only one living close, so I am sure most of the leg work will fall on me. Now my in-laws, oh my, so much stuff. I am so glad that won't be falling on me to get in order. Their property will stay in the family, so there won't be a ton of things that will need taking care of right away.

I was in sling for 5 weeks, back to work after 10 weeks (light duty-ish, if you can call getting in and out of a F150 40+ times a day light duty for a right shoulder) and now back to my regular job - small engine tech for public works equipment. Still no heavy lifting but I manage. Still would rather do more knee work than another shoulder job. Had three surgeries so far on my right knee. Dr says grade 3 arthritis, so far cortisone shots seem to be working and lasting for over 12 months at a jab.

Good plan on the estate sale. I've met mostly nice people buying and selling one thing at a time. But one person at a time is as much as I want to deal with.
We sold some stuff outside of the main estate sale. Usually to a friend or a friend of a friend. But it still was amazing how many people would not show up. We had a complete Ryobi BT3000 table saw with accessories. Offered it to a couple of different people for $100. It ended up being donated. Then one guy called my brother and said he would take it.
I have sold a few things on Craigslist. I will meet them at designated area at the Sheriff's Station. Even then I have had no shows. Those I believe are scammers trying to find out what you have at your house.
The best place for me to sell is at used tool swap meet it happens every quarter. I know the person that runs it. They let me put one or two items at their booth out at no charge.
All of those sales have gone well.

Not in the garage but on the rocks and pavers outside.

It finally rained enough in Phoenix to create mud in this weekend’s nascar race parking lot.
IMG_5205.jpeg
Tried to use the power washer and found it is producing little to no pressure.
Something else to fix.
Used the plain ole hose and a plastic scraper to remove the mud then washed the truck.

I spent a couple more hours in the garage stitching this plastic JD hood back together. It's not pretty, but it is solid. I'll clean it up a bit tomorrow and get it back on the X360 so we can list the thing for sale. Considering it was in several pieces 2 days ago, I'm just glad it's back into 1 piece right now.

Yeah, that’s why I’d almost prefer giving stuff away. There are exceptions, of course - I just need to buckle down and run some ads on CL for some of the bigger items. I
certainly do not need 2 jointers or a Ridgid 300 power threader head.

Started the day in the basement putting away the dozens of leftover copper fittings from the boiler installation last fall. The basement workshop needs several more days of cleaning and organizing. As the day warmed up, I moved to the garage and did some minor car maintenance, then I tempted fate a bit by moving two snow shovels from the garage to the back of the shed. After that, I drained two gas cans into the sienna. Pretty sure I won’t be needing it for the snowblower until December. We’ve had substantial snowfalls in April in years past but so far, this year has seen the lightest snowfall in ~90 years. That said, I don’t want to press my luck and put the snowblower away just yet- that will happen in a couple of weeks when the winter tires come off to spend the summer in the shed.

I’ll get fresh gas for the rototiller which should be hitting the veggie garden later this week - it smells like Spring outside!

On the apron of the garage...
I put new 6K axles under my trailer.
I broke one 10 days ago so I replaced them both. Springs were good so I rebushed them. New equalizers, bolts, shackles, saddles, u bolts, etc.
Will get the brakes, etc back on in a day or two.

Started the 3d printer on hopefully the last proof version of the baja headlight inside the fender bucket. Thought I would start on the transmission reseal. Removed the nosecone to renew the gasket & replace the bushing and seal. Stunk of burned oil, pitch black inside. Continued on and removed the side cover, more stench of burnt oil and it appears that parts are rubbing and not installed correctly. Time to hit the Bentley and Samba.

It was a lot to deal with when my parents passed within a year of each other. I did it alone since nobody in the family wanted to help or couldn't emotionally. Course it wasn't easy for me either. To add to it, my Dad's place was in West Texas which is 32 hours away from me. I had just moved my mom from West Texas a month before she passed so her stuff was here already. It was put on me to sell my Dad's place so I had to get it presentable even though it was someone else who was living with my dad that caused the mess I had to clean up.

Needless to say, being an only child, I took it as my responsibility, but considering how my parent's helped everyone when they needed it and then nobody helped me has left a bad feeling toward them. I still talk to them when they want to talk, but I don't count on them for anything and just accept anything they say is a lie.

Over the years I've purged a lot of my parent's stuff as it was their stuff and not mine. I kept what I could or wanted to keep and got rid of the rest. I'm still purging but currently I'm not tripping over everything so it's easier to deal with at my own pace.

Plumbed up this contraption. I had an old Kobalt 30 gallon electric air compressor that quit on me years ago, my dad had bought me a better 30 gallon so I plumbed them together. I also had an old hydro jetter hose reel that I put an air hose on and put a regulator on the output side. Granted the most I do is air up tires but I figured why not?

I aired up the tires on the Ranger today, I saw someone had a Milwaukee version of this tire inflator on here, I bought this one when I saw his a while back, just because I have more Dewalt batteries... regardless of brand, these things are amazing. I haven't use my compressor since I got it! IMG_1140.jpeg

Decided I'd refurb the ancient Wyeth-Scott More Power Puller instead of buying a larger Badlands winch for the UTV--besides, much less to go wrong, and no electronics to fool with. Also, it can be rigged anywhere I need it.

I thought the winch was a half-ton--so I bought a winch-ready 1500 lb. cable at Lowe's--turns out, it was rated for a ton and a half--that was wrong. Thus, that cable's going back, but I'm keeping the new hook and shackle I bought alongside it in my rigging.

I had assumed with the age, they hadn't been made in decades. As it turns out, Wyeth-Scott still makes them in Ohio, albeit a bit heavier duty (smallest model now is a two-ton), and while changes have been made, parts are still sold for all models--including antiques like mine.

The 5/16 wire rope is badly frayed in several places--which is not good if it's under heavy load. Needs a couple of springs replaced too. Really want to try Amsteel/synthetic winch rope, but the pre-rigged one from Wyeth is $85, compared to $60 for pre-rigged wire rope. Buying my own Amsteel Blue in 5/16 is about $40-50; and good US-made lifting-grade wire rope is insane--$100 from McMaster Carr. I'd presume the mine supply near me isn't any cheaper. I figure I'll just bite the bullet and go with the pre-rigged Amsteel from the manufacturer for safety reasons. I also like the removable ****** block/pulley they now come with as standard, but that's a really pricey add-on when the old ****** block works just fine. Apparently, the old ones can be updated with a new pin and sheave that makes the block removable.

Swept the shop this morning and wondered how on earth I had literally 2 5gal pails of dirt on the floor. Then I looked things over before turning the lights off at the end of the day and shook my head. It’s mud season or better known as “dirt relocation season”. There will be a few scoops of dirt when these machines move again tomorrow. Good grief.
IMG_3256.jpeg

I need to purchase mining rights somewhere and start a gravel pit so I can afford to put gravel everywhere I need it. As it is I purchase roughly 30 12yd loads a year and that’s just to maintain existing driveways.

Made a template for the battery box in the boat. Took two attempts, it covers the bilge, and holds 1 of 4 group 31 batteries and the oil tank for the old 2 stroke. 1/4 aluminum plate is on the way to replace the scrap plywood. The aluminum plate will be more refined. I have plan for a "better" mounting system. The screws keep shearing off and or come loose out of the fiberglass mounting surface. I'll post pictures of the aluminum mounting pucks that will get 3M 4200'd to the boat and through bolted to the plate when I get to it. Pictures no order..
