After many years trying to have a decently finished garage the time has come to get the dream going. This is more of a showcase/man cave garage since I have other buildings in my property to wash and wrench. The plan calls for a 30x50 shell. I'm losing my mind waiting for my turn for the builders to get to my project. At least materials got delivered last week and erection seems to be a week or two out. Extremely irresponsible company that subs everything out but whatever, lesson learned.

Once the shell is up and concrete and door are in, I plan to finish all the interior myself. I'm estimating this will take me 1.5 years, so tune in and stay for the long ride. Happy to hear suggestions and feedback as I go through the project.

Phase 1 was building a construction road and getting the pad ready.

Very unique home. Did you build the home? I have the opportunity to get an old bin from my Grandpa's farm. Want to make it into a gazebo. Very cool. Can you share more pictures of the house?

I bought it two years ago from the gentleman who built it. I like that the interior is setup like a regular house and it's different than the typical bin home that is very open. Guy was able to fit 4 bedrooms and 2.5 baths in 1800sq ft. I say it's a bit tight for everyday living but works for me since it's just the wife and I, with occasional kids/guests staying a few nights.

My 30x50 is a 3/12 pitch metal building. Went together in about 3.5 days. I kept all the extra metal and used a good bit of it as wainscoting or border along my lift/ working side of the shop. 2 12w x 10h doors. No regrets on having 2 vs 1 door.

Shell is now done.

Only problem I found so far is that they didn't cut the bubble wrap around the versa vent. Got to get up there and tackle that soon. On to figure out concrete now.

Lived in the city a wile ago, Indiana now. Forgot to update location.

Where at in IN? I'm outskirts of Hamilton county. That's such a sweet house, very cool!

Who's doing your building? I only ask because I might be in the market here soon for another structure.

I've got a buddy that I went to highschool with that's in the concrete business if you want contact info? Without knowing your area I don't know if he works there but always worth the ask, never know. 🍻

I'm in Monticello, near Indiana beach. I went with Bi-Rite Buildings. Absolutely DO NOT recommend them. Very good answering all my questions but communicating with them after signing and putting in a deposit was harder than milking a duck. They said 10-12 weeks to build after signing. Ended up being 22 weeks with absolutely zero communication on why. At least I got lucky that the builders they used out of Kentucky did an absolute superb job.

No Sh#$. I grew up on lake Schafer. I have been up there the past several weekends in a row. My Grandpa just passed and I have been helping my Grandma clean and prep their house for sale. They have owned property there since '85 I believe. We grew up one summer at a time up there tent camping, then in an RV, then in a mobile home, them in a cabin, then finally in a house. I have slept in everything you can imagine up there. Some of my fondest memories are on that lake! I actually have to get up there asap and retrieve some personal items as my Grandma just accepted an offer on their home. I don't think it's gonna hurt anything so I'll share. I have spent more time on this property than you can shake a stick at. I used to love feeding the carp and watching the ski show at the beach!

On the main bend, big multi tier orangish dock. Property wraps all the way around into a little cove. They sold 1/2 of the cove a while back and there is a big yellow house there now. Just a stones throw north west there is a little bridge, that used to be a big sand bar, waist deep, that's where my Grandpa taught me how to ski.

That is so cool. Very nice house. I'm fairly new to this area, 2 years only, but love it out here. Still haven't been on the lake because my wife lives in fear of water. I definitely need to make some friends with boats

The whiskey bar gets a little rowdy late night lol, but they do usually have good live music. They also have very good pizza. Rugie's Dugout also has some pretty darn good burgers and food in general.

My wife and I got married in my grandparents back yard at that house. We had a donut tower made and brought in from Johns bakery right by the beach there. There is a golf cart rental place in their old building now, right across from the camp ground there.

Project of the day was closing off the garage door openings with house wrap to keep birds, deer, all all random wildlife out temporarily. Continuous gutter guy coming in tomorrow to provide a quote. I'm already getting anxious with all the water splash making the building dirty. Also working on concrete quotes. Waiting *****.

Looking very nice. I love how he gutters and downspouts just disappear. That's slick. Good color choices.

Was by your family's house last week and pointed it out to my wife. She also loves that property. Beautiful.

Thank you. My grandma is under contract set to close here soon. Amazingly and a blessing for her, it will be the highest recorded sale on the lake the realtor said, all cash offer, sheewwwee! They have been there since the 80's so that's incredible given that's 40 years of sales! (Edit. I just looked and I'm gonna have to call BS on his facts. There have been some well into the millions. Maybe his highest lol)

There is the giant waste management guys house further up the river that sat for sale for several years but it ended up going to another family member so never truly "sold". That is an incredible house if you have never been up that far. It's got like 99 acres of farm ground that was set to come with it. It's got a fully self contained boat/party house and a beach if I remember right.

I'll try and find the link and hopefully the pictures are still up online. It's truly incredible.

They must have removed all it's info. But it's right across the water from the Sandbar Grill. Then look across the water, you can't miss it.

Nice you found it! I was able to for some reason. Yea it is definitely something. The trash business must be a good business to be in. (I've always had my suspicious of the Mob haha).

There is some interesting history up there. There is a house down by the beach, to the left of the suspension bridge looking from sitting on the water. There is a big white octogan shaped deck with a water slide and a gazebo thing on it. That is my childhood Doctor and my kids actually see her as well. Sorry got sidetracked, but right by her house up on that hill is an old Al Capone hideout house. He used to vacation there.

I really dislike that I can't progress at the pace I wish I could, but it is what it is. Garage doors done, at least it's usable now and random animals can't get in. Power company wanted $11k to bring a second service so that's not happening. Seems like I will be stuck with only running 40 amps from that quonset next to it.

What is your service at the house? If 200, why couldn’t you run a 100a sub panel from there?
