I might have killed my Craftsman because I didn't realize most consumer-grade pressure washers cool the pressure pump with the flowing water and possibly let it idle too much when I was preparing the old house for sale. Oops - guess another vote for RTFM...

This was $100 off today ($299):
pR5jCY.jpg

On paper, it's a decent upgrade from the previous Craftsman:
2800psi --> 3200 psi
2.3GPM --> 2.8GPM
Cast aluminum pump body --> mainly-brass pump body
163cc motor --> 223cc motor
2 year warranty from service center --> 2 year warranty @ the HF stores (swap, presumably)
Underside (hard to access) connections facing forward --> Rear-facing, accessible connections

Reviews were good on the old one when I bought it in 2019, but looking it up today the rating wandered down to a 3.3 out of 5, mainly due to the same pump problems mine has and poor service from Craftsman. The reviews made me wonder how much of the pump dying was me - Generally I don't tend to let any machine run if I'm not actively using it, and the check valves are plastic, so maybe it's just a piece of ****. It lasted five years with light-to-moderate use (I'm not counting this year since it hasn't worked), which isn't very good IMHO. I have higher hopes for the Predator... :cautious:

I haven't gotten mine out of the box yet, but eyeballing the display in the store I'm happy to see the pressure manifold is mainly brass instead vs. the cast aluminum of the Craftsman (pic grabbed from a video):

I've got a LOT of pressure washing to do on this house this Spring - it will definitely get a healthy test to start...

Just be aware that pressure and output ratings on most pressure washers are like HP ratings on newer tools--often rather wide of the mark.

The pump on that Predator would be easy to source and replace when next you find a way to kill it. Surprise freezes did in a couple of ours. Now they live inside when not in use.

Fair. It's another thing where I kinda wonder how perceptible an additional 15%-20% performance is, even if the relative jumps are true.

I guess we'll see.

Mine gets stored in a garage where it's unlikely to drop below 40° - I'm definitely going to try to be smarter about this one.

I didn't mean to imply that you're careless with your tools--just that it doesn't take much to kill a pressure washer pump, as you know. I'm surprised none of our have died from overheating as they get used by several people who, I guarantee, have not RTFM.

Of course, the electric one for indoor use has really cut down on the usage of the gas-power one.

Three of these showed up today using OPM. But being such a wise shopper I used depots buy more save more deal which made one of them almost free.

So in theory the company bought two n got two. So I ask, shouldn’t my frugality be rewarded?

Hell I had to try one out and now that it’s on a mobile base it’d be far to unsafe to transport it in the back of my truck right?

Btw, unless you really need a cordless vacuum it does fairly decent but they aren’t worth the price of admission. I put two fresh 6amp batteries in it and maybe did ten minutes on my wife’s ride and was down to two bars on each.

So I went to Lowe's today to grab some wood putty and I always check out their Back Aisle where discounted stuff is put. There was a sign that said 75% off all clearance items. Based on the marked down price. Well that was a bunch of stuff that was a steal for me so I went to town:

1742604249847.jpeg

Each of the Kobalt drill bit/impact bit/combo pack were just under $5 each. The big pack was $8. The DeWalt drill bit set was $4.

Each of the green 12' Craftsman tape measures were $1.30. The Komelon 12' were $2.40 and the 26' was $3.70.

The Toughbuilt hacksaw was $3.90. The Kobalt little prybars were $1.90 each. The goofy rechargeable cleaning brush was $4.

The Irwin angled long reach needle nose pliers...$1.60 each. She gave it 90% off. The hi-viz Boss winter work gloves were $2.10, the black ones were 90 cents.

Finally the caulking was $2.10 a tube (silicone DAP), the spline strips were 65 cents and the tire repair thing was a buck.

Not in the pic was 3 gallons of outdoor poly/stain for 8 bucks a gallon and 2 gallons of rust covering primer for $7 each.

Unbelievable deals. They were getting ready for inventory so all clearance had to go so I took advantage.

Gearing up for Secret Santa 2025!

I already have the Engineer/Vampliers so I figured I'd try the Twin Grip in my secondary tool kit:

This little fella had an ineresting journey. I was perusing the Knipex catalog late at night (as one does) and found "Halogen Bulb Pliers". That made me laugh, so I went looking for a set. Checked the usual places, and Amazon.de had them for less than half what .com was selling them for, shipped free to my door from Australia in only 5 days:

Only one vehicle (wife's) is LED, so they will come in handy! :ROFLMAO:

I'd always wanted these but never actually looked for them until I came across them the other day. Tons of kits and whatnot come with 1/4" drivers but not 3/8". Went ahead and got the straight and wobble. First Kokon most certainly too
I have 2 of each, 1/4 inch and 3/8. They get used quite a bit!

My morning haul from the local surplus/fell-off-the-truck store and Second Hand Antiques:

54403392946_dee1f4c373_b.jpg

Cut-off wheels were $2 each. Flapwheels $5.

The snap-ring pliers set is brand new.

54403678753_84c8e1e6f3_b.jpg

Very well made (in Taiwan), sturdy, good design. The tips are ground and are perfect for the smaller snap rings I encounter. $15, which it turns out is exactly the new price online. I could have used them earlier this morning, when I had to remove a snap-ring that was too small for the sets that I had.

I don't quite remember ordering these but they came in today. I have been looking at this set for a while now. I will be taking these to work and bringing my Snap-On socket set home. They will be a lot less spendy to repurchase when I inevitably lose one in the field.

Iirc there are covers made for that.
The second time I accidentally hit the Caps Lock, out came the screwdriver and off came the key.

The keys on these boards just snap on/off, so I could put it back on... but won't. If I really want the caps locked, I can use my left pinky to still push the button, but can't hit it by accident any more.

Blakes fault... He sent me the #2PH Vessel Impacta for GJSS and I had to buy the #3 for the Old Japanese motorcycle case cover screws.
And a few other misc items. $5 Bag of retaining rings for the 1/2in impact. $7 Truflate (china) blowgun with metal tip and $5 16mm magnetic pinless sparkplug socket.

Looking forward to reading your review. I'm in the market for one of those.

Hope the #2 has served you well the last few months and hopefully everything else has too. And you’re welcome for making your wallet flatter 🤣.

At Depot yesterday and they had these on sale for $10. And considering I had an empty space on the new vacuum thought what the heck, we’ll see if this is handy or not.

I will say the swivel aspect locks in nicely and there doesn’t seem to be any deformation of the flex tubing.

And got a 1-1/4 deep socket for work too. Fits my axle rethreading dies perfectly. I think it’s equivalent to a 32mm but I wanted an excuse to buy a new tool again and since Home Depot is right across the street from Lowe’s I decided to go over there and see if they had it since Lowe’s didn’t. Home Depot for the win again. I like Home Depot better anyway since they have Milwaukee.
