Thanks GJ'ers for the inspiration. The furniture posts brought back memories of my old Lab, "Buddy". That like new Lazy-Boy he is in was a hand me down from Granny, or Dad (can't recall) back when they would buy a new one every year or so:) Buddy took it over as a pup, and that was it. I hardly ever got to sit in it. When he left us, the chair left with him😇 Anyway, I have a bunch of old "Polaroid" shots on the walls and in boxes that I've never thought about digitizing before.
....getting the boat ready for a trip, he was always ready to go for one of those..

He'd rather play with rocks then sit and hang in the garage, hopefully as he gets older he calms down and will be able to be trusted to not try and eat everything in sight.
Watch the socks. My daughter was telling me last Saturday they had an emerg obstruction surgery, a sock. 2nd surgery in under 2 yrs on this dog, both times, a sock. About $3500 a pop.

@Jay__Dub, another reason to go barefoot. Dress up for me is deck shoes with no socks. Casual is canvas slip-ons with no socks.

More pics of my pups because why not? Like I said in post #6538 I'm an emotional slob about my dogs and the older I get the more so.

I took them to Home Depot this morning. I was going to do some small chores at my widowed sister's house and I take them with me in the store in the shopping cart. I carry a thick blanket to put in the cart so it doesn't hurt their paws. People either smile or think I'm a lunatic!

Anyway, I hung some garden tool hangers, installed a couple decorative shelves above her work bench, hung a picture in her kitchen. Max the miniature terrorist stays right under foot while I do anything. He has finally realized he has a human now that will never hurt him, will never abandon him and I am absolutely convinced dogs try to show gratitude by being devoted. Both these pups are like that.

IIMG_4718.jpegIMG_4714.jpeg must have exhausted them because they crashed hard in the truck. Of course Max had his head on my lap.

My grandchild, Lucifer, is headed for the rainbow bridge next week. He's 17, and just not able to dog anymore. He was such a lovely, happy boy. I really wished they lived longer.
Oh man, so heartbreaking Kay. Terribly sorry to hear it. Please hold him to the last second. Make his transition as peaceful as possible. Until then if he can handle it give him ice cream or steak or whatever he loves.

KILLS me when my beloved four legged friends have passed.

On a lighter note, Emma discovered the toilet paper roll this morning, while I was in the shower.
Uh oh!
If I don't close the bathroom door til it latches I can rely on my Fifi poking her snout in to see what I'm doing.
TMI but if I am peeing she wants to walk over and watch. I've gotta admit even though she is a dog it is creepy to look down and see her face intently watching what is happening!

New tires on the Cub Cadet today. Boy wasn't much help. He's getting an attitude because I'm out there farting around and still haven't mowed yet. Good rain all day tomorrow is really gonna get it growing. Will be one day this coming week. Nails looking better @Johnny Generic? I've done a couple trims. His feet are "webbed", no pad really. More like talons. Takes a few times to get the quick to recede if they get long. Cut my old black Labs quick once. Never seen so much blood.

Been a while since I let any of the dogs in the garage after this one Pudding pee'd on the new floor within a week of it going down. I had words and she seems fine now and she really isn't that fat, it's just the way she squats.

Took the front grille and plate off the C3 to get some measurements for a mate restoring one and noticed the plate mount was looking a bit scabby so prepped it for paint and set out to do it today but couldn't muster up the enthusiasm. Had my 3rd hit of Covid a few weeks back and this one was the worst and has left me lethargic. I'll add it to the I'll do it tomorrow list 😬

Yeah he doesn't get much freedom unsupervised. He's almost 8 months. I'm more worried about him trying to swallow rocks than socks. A buddy had a dog that ate rocks and needed surgery for the obstruction. He's found a couple big ones he can carry up onto the deck. But he gets small ones and sits and crunches his teeth on them and worry my somewhat.

A family friend has a dog that chews rocks. IIRC the dental visits were $5k a piece....

Might be prudent to get a pro to train that behavior out of him before he kills his teeth.
He'll be eating canned food before I spend that kind of $$ on a dog multiple times. 🤣

KILLS me every time I thumb through older pictures and see all my lifetime best friends who have passed on. EVERY ONE of them was a sweet should, each in their own way. Condolences on chonky bear. He looks like a dignified and smiling senior.

She nearly made it to her 17th birthday. SHe had 16 years of being spoiled rotten by us though.

It's crazy. I have boxes of ashes all over the house. All loved and cared for, all the way to the finish line. Apparently rules dictate the ashes of our babies aren't allowed to be placed with ours in our final resting place. Seems unreasonable to me. They probably have shares in a chain of pet cemeteries.

I've never asked for my dog's remains. Too painful to have that around and - speaking just for me - I think having them would remind me they are gone where frequently looking at their pictures gives me a moment of to "talk" with them, tell them what good boys and girls they were and how I will never ever forget them.

I don't know if there's an afterlife. For my mother and others I truly hope there is. But I know FOR CERTAIN that if anyone deserves to live on in another realm it is dogs. God bless them all.

EDIT: When we lost our little Bella, and later Joey it truly broke my heart. I don't mind telling that I cried so hard when they breathed their last that my eyes were puffy and when I went to the Vet's front counter they waived me off saying, "There will be no charge". But in all cases I have asked the vet to, "PLEASE be respectful with their little bodies. They truly deserve that" and they have always said they will take extra good care of them. I'm choking up just typing this.

Bella, The sweetest, most gentle soul that ever lived:

And Joey, my absolute shadow at all hours of every day. A happy devoted little fellow his entire life:

We buried Lucifer out on the north 40. Poor little guy. Otto's been sobbing since. He just lost his baby Harry a few weeks ago, and now his nephew. Emma's been washing his ears all evening, trying to cheer him up I guess.
Heartbreaking Kay. I am terribly sorry you and of course Otto have to go through the sorrow.
