^ I always replace the hose clamps on mowers - same type of clamp used for 1/4" neoprene fuel hose on B&S and Tecumseh engines. I find them at ACE Hardware in their "Hillman" bins. Usually I have them special-order them for me by the box.

Amazon and McMaster are also good sources for boxes of them. I've also used Amazon to get some boxes of new, shiny, virginal (well, you never know with Germans) Norma hose clamps, screw-drive type.

USPS dropped these off today:

Pferd 10" Fine American single cut mill. They're finer-toothed than I expected so I may have to order a couple in medium or coarse--or one of each. It's been a while since I bought a new file. The old ones will go to my knife-forging landlord.

I was thinking the same. Kohler engines too, I believe. Probably all OPE makes.

I'm too cheap to replace them, though.

I just ordered one 10" Pferd in each of medium and coarse.

I'm just a little disappointed to find that the State of California says I shouldn't eat or breathe the files.
Damn. I just realized that I ordered those two files in 8". Amazon... gotta pay more attention. I'll probably return them (already shipped) and get the BIG TEN INCH files.

Posted earlier on the What Did You Buy Yourself Today thread the day I ordered it but my stuff arrived today.

Hutchins longboard from Autobody Tool Mart
Lancaster Stretcher/Shinker from Eastwood
Odds and ends from Menards

I also ordered a Woodward Stand for the stretcher/shinker but it hasn’t even shipped yet. The Milwaukee work light is taking a week plus to travel 400 miles…smh

Stopped by HF yesterday.

Do people with the last name of Bauer run out and buy these bags? Do people in Tacoma buy more Tacomas? Do GMC customers really think their SUV is that much better than a Chevrolet, or are they just in Denali?

Another "Braun" LED product, some scissors, and a cheap test light.

A few years ago I bought some Milwaukee scissors, and they are very sturdy. The missus asked me to grab a pair of scissors for her at HF a few months ago and for many dollars less, yes, HF appears to have made good scissors of a similar heft.

From years of living near San Fran and regularly ordering parts, I am pretty sure CA has determined that drinking distilled water from a sterilized glass container may cause cancer. Their notices are so ridiculously unproductive they have become a joke. Warnings should be saved for things that really need warnings otherwise the impact goes away. We have evolved into a ridiculously litigious society and I suspect most of this is for lawsuit shielding.

Pretty cat. I have one of the Braun lights. No discernible difference from my NEBOs, other than price. I also have those Quinn scissors. My go to scissors now.

California even warns me not eat thirty-pound stainless fittings!

The most ridiculous warning I've seen was a number of years ago on the back of a sheet of sandpaper: "Wear eye, ear, face, hand and body protection when using this product" Who knew a sheet of sandpaper could kill or maim? What's safe these days?

It's widely accepted across the globe that anything airborne and inhaled is likely not good for you.

The company also has to provide legal protections because they can't be held responsible and know what you are sanding and stirring up.

I had to take off work yesterday to go see a medical specialist in the big city and, afterwards, I checked out a new-to-me pawn shop, as well as several hardware/tool retailers.

364DA401-6734-476A-ACED-7F98356C7F27.jpegI got these at a pawn shop that I had never noticed before. Their wares were much higher quality and in better condition than most pawn shops that I visit. I’m definitely going back there the next time I’m in the city. The PEX crimper and Hardie blade are brand new and the Greenlee nut drivers may as well be. I got everything for $52.

I was also at a supply house and I saw this. I’ve been looking for a good way to carry and organize recip blades and this fit the bill. I’ve also been wanting to get into the Milwaukee Packout system and this is my first piece. I currently use the DeWalt T-Stak system and will continue to do so, but the Milwaukee system offers some items that I think will work better for the overall organization of my work van. Although I consider myself to be a DeWalt guy, I’m not opposed to using other brands if they suit my needs better.

Nothing was said about respiratory protection--just physical protection against the horror that is a sheet of sandpaper.

Picked up some storage at an auction from a shop that's going out of business. Always a bit sad to see someone selling off, but I can put these to use. Pretty good shape, not horribly dirty or dinged up. Small one has an MDF top, the 54" has a steel top. I like the depth of these drawers as well, "goldilocks".

Wait a second, wait a second Squankum! Is that another one of your grifting cats that pretends he’s going to help? Good god, if you take him to a job in that Bauer bag, he’s going to turn it into a sleep chamber and you won’t get a lick of work from him. You have got to wise up! Put that cat on a train, send him to Appleton and I’ll teach him to work! Cheers,
Jim

My 9yr old grandbubby is up for a week. Dude loves building snap together stuff but mom and dad pretty much **** at helping him keep his kits together. So papa hooked him up with a legit method thus welcoming him into the world of grownup man tools today.

Picked up these adapters for my impact at Walmart. I busted my Matco 1/4 one in half today and he doesn’t come till Wednesday and I use it like everyday so I got these to at least last me till then but if they hold up well I’ll just keep using them too. I have one or two Hart things that work fine so hopefully these do too.

Schumacher battery brush, $4.69 Amazon USA, China.

IMG_2079.jpg

There are some things I'll putting in my road bag that I'll have no qualms about giving away when I encounter someone in need.

"I don't know how even a blockhead like you made it this far in life without a battery brush, so take this, and I'll be on my way, ya damned numbskull." (Burn rubber)

A couple of weeks worth of Snappy stuff. Hammer is for work to replace a Halder. The socket driver replaces a Heyco that doesn’t quiet fit my hands right. The 5/64” hex bit socket replaces a Napa Carlyle that is wasted. The tire gage is for my house; I’ve been doing a lot of tire inflating for cars and bikes and wanted something nicer than the Milton stuff I have. And the 1/4” ratchet…well it was on sale on the truck and I actually don’t have any quality 1/4” flex ratchets at the house so I figured why not. Also got a cool free shirt and a Presta-Schrader adapter because I’m now the bike guy in my family.
