Another **** for @Marsim! For those who don’t know, LeCreuset is the SnapOn of enameled cast iron, with all the pro/cons that go with the comparison. And his is in fantastic condition, to boot.

@Private Lugnutz I remember well when/where you found that coffee cup for your son…😉

I have picked up good tools at the estate sales held in the homes of millionaires, but not often.
Yup, the blue collar class is usually a bit more handy with their hands which makes for a higher likelihood of tools
I went to one estate sale for a gazillionaire. He was a hoarder of the utmost level. You know something's up when you're issued a wheelbarrow at the gate! I filled mine twice that day.... and emptied my wallet.

All other high income estate sales have been absolute busts.

I really love it when I pull into the drive and see a weathered, leaning barn or shop... my mouth just starts watering....
Yup, barn sales are where it’s at!

Estate sale ($16): Sony TRV 103 Digital 8 Handycam; and Canon SD300 camera.

The camcorder was $4 in the bargain bin, which really was a bargain. The camera is the size of a credit card with the bonus feature of a view finder. Might have to invest in the batteries to get them going.

Ever Ready Bunny willin', the old batteries aren't corroded and leaking. I have been able to save some electronics that had been pretty well FUBARed by leaking batteries with phos acid.

The hand-held digital P&S cameras are seeing a resurgence with the hip crowd these days.

Does the Handycam record to a card or to digital tape?

...her vote may not count since she's not a member here.
Wives get half a vote. But since they are the better half, they get a little better than half a vote. Don't tell her that, of course. If she's anything like my wife, her vote on everything counts more than mine. So maybe it's a little more than a vote and a half. We may need the host and a calculator.

I have used for years (knock on wood) a Kodak Easy Share CX75305 MP P$S for my pics I post. I have a supposedly better, newer, one, but It takes **** pictures. The Kodak generally take better pics than my phone cam.

I have a concern on the Kodak though, the internal clock is on its last available year... Not sure what it does after that...

Digital 8mm tape. My youngest is actually interested in doing some filming with the camera. It was top of the line in 1999 ($1000) and one of the features was that it had a firewire (IEEE 1394) output that in theory, with the right cords will transfer the recording to my computer. If you go to youtube you can see some video shot on the camera and it really has that hipster retro feel. Oh and it also has capacity to shoot at night, which gives it that weird green look

The same dates are repeated every 20 someodd years. Find the year in the past that corresponds to the new year that you need and tell the camcorder that today's date is that old date. Then the day names and dates will align with the months.

There were three estate sales today that looked promising. The one showing the greatest selection of tools was put on by a company that is not one of our favorites due to inconsistent pricing. The pictures didn’t lie and the prices weren’t too bad overall. IMG_1606.jpeg
Here is the Bog set with some extras. IMG_1602.jpeg
This is a picture of almost a complete Brazil (Chrome Alloy) set missing the box. I’m tempted to go back and look for the box. IMG_1603.jpegIMG_1604.jpeg

The second sale didn’t have a good selection of tools but had a Tepco china piece that my co-Pilot collects. We are taking care of the Granddogs while the kids are at Disneyland so she scored some dog toys. IMG_1610.jpeg

Wow, heck of a socketry haul Don! Some nice oldies. I think that deserves a YOU ****!

That Craftsman hose nozzle looks very much like the one we had through my childhood. Couldn't tell you if ours was Craftsman though. It was rugged and survived being dropped a lot. Went missing years ago, possibly stolen like other small things around the house.

Local online auction ($40): Milk glass light fixture; 7" Revere Ware frozen vegetable pan (dbl ring); Cut glass lamp shade; Misc pins; Rosewood and maple drum sticks; 3 ginger containers; 5 graduated sleigh bells; Bombilla; Prattware potted meat jar w/ boar hunting scene; Lampshade; Stratojet bank; Canada Place hologram "Vancouver, it makes sense"; Clip on 4x reading glass; Tech Ether Guild belt "Rays"; Silver Burdett C256 tuning fork; 2 - 1933 World Fair book marks/letter openers (Chemical Elements, Carillon Tower); Walnut handled spreader; Rosewood handled glass cutter; Shawshank Redemption VHS; Unknown but made of bone.

A lot of lots with lots thrown out. The pan is interesting as it's specifically made for frozen vegetables as you can defrost and cook the vegi in one pan! I really dig the belt buckle and going to use some of the leather I got from my last post to make a belt for my youngest. The hologram paperweight of Canada Place for I assume Expo 86 has etched into it, "Vancouver... it makes sense" I'd say only someone from the West Coast could come up with that marketing bombshell.

Missed this bell that you twist to make it ring. Inside the black box was this ampule marked Loraine Eaton. Can't see anything inside, but regardless with the right tech I assume I can reconstitute her.

MrsLS has been unusually excited about the upcoming flea market season, so at first I was pleased. Then I heard her telling friends that while I’m going table to table, she’s going to smuggle my collection from home and dispose of my excess the way Andy Dufresne disposes of concrete wall fragments, using drawstring-bottom pockets.
It is going to be a bit of a distraction keeping an eye on her at the flea.

The front doorbell on my house (1893), inside a portico, or false entry, works like that. Kinda sorta. (See pics.)
5 graduated sleigh bells;
You know the way you can't un-hear things even if you're not part of a conversation? It's one of my favorite parts of flea market shopping. Anyway, last time I was out, I saw a guy asking a vendor how much he wanted for a small box of them, with maybe a half dozen inside and the answer was $100. As I walked away and the guy was reaching for his pocket I was thinking, 'Dang, one more thing I should've been collecting instead of sockets all these years!' :)
Can't see anything inside, but regardless with the right tech I assume I can reconstitute her.
Ha! Creepy sci-fi jokes.

1953 for 2026; the year the camera doesn't have, and going forward from there (Time stops after 12 31 25, or it rolls to 2009) But is also does not go earlier than 2009...

According to this site, the available years on the camera for me are 2009 and 2015

I am not a C-man fanboy, but that wrench pouch is gold.

I, too, assumed it was for wrenches, with the wrenches displayed on top of it, but apparently it's for chisels. Personally, I would see if I could squeeze wrenches inside the pockets and try to flip it for some stupid money.
Sorry guys I put the wrenches on it to hold it flatter, its been rolled up empty for some time. The wrenches were in the 1/4'' Craftsman socket set ,along with the Diamalloy adjustable, neither of which belonged in the Circle H case/set. I don't think I have enough small Craftsman DBEs to fill the pouch but the idea is worthy of thought. Sadly as I pulled up to the sale I walked past a guy with what I suspect to be the sockets for the Circle U tools on a rack, in his hand. I am assuming since he didn't buy the drive tools he really had no idea of the history. 1946 catalog: 1743797581686.png

From an estate sale and a "clear out" sale - I didn't expect much, and they didn't disappoint...

The clear out had nothing for me; the Estate sale a new condition Grabber - this one goes intl my camp vehicles. Last hunting trip I hauled more of other peoples garbage out of the camp sites than our own, and we were there for most of a week. Some of it was disgusting.
cf_grouch.gif

The straps are lightly used, the wrenches were bagged but the 4" Crescent looks unused. The chopped 5/8 - Tru-Fit - will get a bend and some cleanup for use on Coleman 200A lanterns. Not sure why its stamped "BMW" - badly - on both cheeks.

$6 all
