From my visit to Snap-on guy. Purchases from last two flyers. Why the hell did I order these.
IMG_5751.jpg

Is that two telescoping magnets of slightly different sizes? Why the hell did you order that? :D

I dig Snap On's ratchets and wrenches and pliers and the like as much as the next guy, and raised in an America with Snap On perceived as top of the heap, yeah, I like a shiny chrome finish... but I'm sure accepting of mundane retail **** when it comes to telescoping magnets.

I assume the third piece is an inspection mirror? Always good to have different shapes and sizes of those.

I have no other excuse than being dumb ***.. Yes it's two magnets and a mirror. I have a cheap magnets that are almost as powerful as the bigger snap-on one. I should have saved the money.

Wilde makes better pliers than Channellock, IMHO. They have actually held up better to grabbing tool steel pins and dowels than my Snap-on pliers. Really good stuff!

I've bought two sets of Wilde's three-piece, flush fastener slip-joint pliers in the past year or so, and am very impressed with their price point, engineering and manufacturing. IMHO, there is no sane reason to buy any competing products unless one is bottom-feeding and only wants cheap-**** pliers. Nothing that costs more will be any better, and nothing that costs less can compare in quality. And, it's so nice to find such quality still being produced domestically.

Dunno, but if you were sober when you bought those magnets, then you need to head to Snap On withdrawal therapy. If you weren't sober, then all is well, you're perfectly fine; but for the sake of your wallet, just lay off the sauce a bit before you go on the truck or website :ROFLMAO:

Lancaster Shrinker/stretcher on a Woodward stand. Both from Eastwood.

Blair spot weld cutters and a Dura Blocks set, also from Eastwood.

Finally found a rotisserie on Marketplace. In negotiation now. Been looking every day for months. Happened to catch this one as soon as it was listed. Titan 4500, used for one car.

Trip to HF today to bag one of these large wagons on sale at $ 139. Now to put it together. Meanwhle, I also want one of those 2-wheel, wheel barrels for a reasonable price. Probably with a steel pan, but not opposed to an aluminum one. Likely have to order it on-line as I didn't see any at Lowes or Home Depot. Looking something under $ 200.

Oh yeah, I also picked up the Bauer 20v hedge trimmer last week to add to my Bauer 20v line. Tired of dragging around cords. Lots of outdoor gardening/projects to do this year too. 1744249510997.png1744249184001.png

Oh man, another plier design I need to try out now

Nothing that costs more will be any better

I doubt that quite a bit, I've tried a lot of pliers and from slip joints the best I've tried are Snap On, Japanese IPS and some old Proto. Neither of these slip joint pliers is particularly tight and can't really compare to the adjustable box joint design used by Knipex (twingrips, cobras... or even the alligator design).

So while I know this design is fine for a lot of tasks, I do not yet believe they can feel as precise as that.

Bottom: Snappy chrome deep/shallow 1/4" 12pt SAE sets, bought off the truck from the BOGO promotion in February. Wife actually bought them for me for Valentine's day. 🙂
We all need a wife like that! 👍🏼 Even though I give my family a want list, my wife unfortunately seems to be indifferent towards my tools and ends up getting me things like clothes as presents. I think the last actual tool she bought me was a drill bit set back in the early ‘90s! 🥵 I still love her though! 🙂

New clothes can't drill holes or loosen bolts!

Too funny.

When we were dating (or newly married), my wife and I had a conversation about "appropriate" Christmas gifts. I mentioned that my parents always gave each other useful items (tools for Dad, kitchen appliances, etc. for Mom). She said her parents did the same.

BUT, she also said those gifts "aren't personal" and she didn't want to continue that tradition...

I agreed, but also told her that I'd NEVER be offended by getting tools as a gift!

Putting my "new" lighting to work:

54443638256_7862cdc120_b.jpg

We shoot the weekend special every Thursday afternoon. Soon, we're supposed to do the entire menu--that'll be a haul.

I'm pre-composing the picture so I can shoot while sandwich is hot and the beer and salad cold.

Trying to convince the kitchen folks that, since it takes me a half-hour or more just to get set up, and a few minutes to compose and take the pictures, it makes much more sense to spend an entire day running everything in front of the camera.

Got a link so we can see the restaurant website/final pics?

Here's the website: https://terminalgravitybrewing.com/

But the pictures don't seem to be there--I think they're on the Terminal Gravity Brewing FB page--the damned kids who do the IT stuff don't believe there's anyone without an FB account.

Anyhow, here's this week's special:

I'm in love with "cold" "hot lights"! With true, old-school incandescent 'hot lights", you have less than a minute before things like lettuce start to wilt and the room can quickly get murderously hot. With flash/strobes, heat isn't a problem, but it requires a lot of work to get the lighting just right. With this LED set up, heat is negligible and WYSIWYG!

The menu pics will be for some sort of hard-copy menu with QR codes for each item--whatever those are.

I'm afraid it'll turn out looking like a Denny's menu....

Good day for shop equipment.

After stalking Facebook Marketplace several times a day looking for a rotisserie, I happened to check within an hour of a guy posting a Titan 4500 for sale. He bought it a year ago for his car and was selling well below retail price. As a bonus, it was only about an hour away. Other than some primer overspray, it's basically like new.

While looking for a rotisserie a Hobart 210 MVP with spool gun popped up. The seller was a fella that was a fill time, professional welder that had it as his home shop welder and he had just upgraded to a big Miller to do farm equipment repairs with. The welder basically was like new. After a little negotiating, I ended up with it as well. Came with the box, manuals and everything it came with when new plus a gas bottle and cart.

The Woodward stand for my Lancaster shrinker/strtecher came in as well.

Still looking for a pressure pot sandblaster and a metal brake.

A quick trip to Menards.

KIMG2522.JPG

For those curious, that 6" Tekton adjustable wrench was $2.99 plus 11% rebate.
Is Tekton starting to sell tools in Menards?

That would be a good addition if they broadly stocked Tekton tools over their prior, low-grade big-box tool lines of recent years. Their MasterForce brand had some OK stuff mixed in it years ago (including some usa made stuff), but in recent years became more bottom of the barrel Chinese production.
