Snap on Cynergy ratchets finally right?

I think they finally have it right. The new ratchets come with the new mechanism design, and the rebuild kits with the suffix a contain all those components. They no longer have the freewheeling problem, and the Back Drag is dual 80 or even less with the new spring and lubricant. The new washer for the flex heads seems to prevent the floppy problem also.
I have been messing around with mine for a bit. I have a top notch salesman, but I like to mess around with my ratchets so I rebuild them instead of having him do them. The new kit is kind of a pain to install with the two piece direction lever, but once you get the hang of it it's not bad. I did a little modification on my stubby Flex head by clipping the spring about 15% shorter and I also put a drop of Lucas engine assembly Lube in addition with the super lube and the Back Drag is fantastic, less than the Dual 80 and close to the Koken. It is a bit deceiving on the feel because of 20% more teeth but I'll mess around and figure out a way to measure it. On my long flex head ratchet I didn't clip the spring but I did the same thing with the lube when I overhauled it and it is smooth and strong. I see the roto head ranches are also called Cynergy now but they are the same design as before just renamed. I think these ratchets now are what they should have been initially. They are strong, smooth, don't reverse accidentally or freewheel, have a durable reversing lever, and a thin head profile. I'm very happy with the ones I have that have been overhauled now and the one new one that is a straight production one with all the mods in it already.

That's nice to hear though the damage has been done to the image of that particular ratchet. maybe they should rename them again to Dual100 or something similar.

These are the 100 tooth ratchets, right? I have a flex head 100 T and will need to check it out. I don't use it regularly. Thanks for the info.

Can you do some comparison pics of the physical ratchet head next to a Koken Z series?

It is a little hard to see in the picture, but while the Koken is smaller it is about 10% thicker. Also I think this Koken is a compact model whereas the Snap on is not.

I have no idea how the initial Cynergy design was even allowed to be released, but I’m glad they fixed the problem. The new design looks unnecessarily complex although there is a clear benefit to having two pawls. I‘m really looking forward to checking out the ICON G2 ratchets when they hit the shelves next month. Even though the ICON appears to use a single pawl with a gap in the middle, functionally, it might be just enough to act like two pawls with a much more proven KISS (keep it simple, stupid) design.

It does have a lot of influence from the Dual 80 which has two pawls and once they got the bugs out of the initial ones of those has been fantastic. They definitely should have perfected the Cynergy before it went on the market.

Anybody here able to get part numbers for the new Cynergy hard handles? The actual handles. I love them, I want more of them.

I'm not sure I'll ever be happy with the 100t. I'm on about my 5th replacement so far. Last time it broke at the flex after the bolt loosened up. The bolt strips out easily and they go loose. But it hasn't freewheel in a while so it does seem they fixed that issue.

My situation is bizarre because I've never waranteed my 80 or my icon.
