Last weekend I didn't go to the big swap meet in Portland. Too big and spread out. Sunday morning I attended the monthly local flea market, and found some stuff worth taking home.

Barcalo:
Barcalo.jpg
Pliers 6-1/2" long
DBE 3/4 x 25/32
Combo 1" with stamped letters
Combo 15/16 with raised letters
Combo 13/16 with raised letters

Wrenches.jpg
VLCHEK WBA 2628 DBE 13/16 x 7/8
VLCHEK WBH 2628 DBE 13/16 x 7/8
Long-C No. 3 Tapped DOE 5/8 x 11/16 "CI"
Long-C Vanadium DBE short 1/2 x 9/16
Lectrolite 4002 "05 CHROME VANADIUM" DBE 1/2 x 9/16
Tru Fit 5002 DBE short 1/2 x 9/16
Tru Fit combo 3/4
Duro-Chrome 2013 (circle-x) DBE 9/16 x 5/8

Mixed.jpg
9/16" HSS drill bit, unused
Pin Spanner, 1-3/8" diameter arc
Armstrong Bros. No.482 pin face spanner
Fairmount "X" tubing wrench 4116 1/2
Fairmount "X" tubing wrench 4118 9/16
Fairmount "X" tubing wrench 4120 5/8
Plomb LA 6502 Ford Brake Adjusting wrench, date code "LC" Edit: It looks like the "C" is stamped first, and the other is a "1" added later. Not a two-letter code.
Proto Professional 5449 1/2 dr. ratchet
Proto LA 3360 obstruction DOE 15/16
P&C 2118 short DBE 1/2 x 9/16

Lots of 1/2 x 9/16 wrenches. The Plomb brake wrench seems to have a field modification bend in the large end. The Proto ratchet was $2.00, which makes it a cheap donor, if nothing else. The Barcalo combos were a package, and I only wanted the 13/16, which fills a hole in my set. The WBH DBE also fills a hole.

Not a lot around here, but I did pick up a toolbox and contents for $10 from someone who was downsizing. Largely unremarkable, but I am pleased with the Petersen vise grips and the Channellock wire cutters.
markup_1000001574 (1).jpg

I'll go through the rest, sort the wrenches, and probably make some library donations.

The Excel hobby knife is made in USA. You should keep that, too.
I've got one, but a spare won't hurt (like my pin drill, anything I can use one-handed tends to go meandering). And I definitely don't have the fancy curved blades already. :)

$9 from a local guy that buys and sells storage units. Like the craftsman professional never had one before.
Nice!

Fun Thursday morning less than a mile from home.
Stop # 1 sold me a Potato shovel and watering can for $9.
P1010016.JPG

His neighbor had his shed open as well. He told me he used to do cleanouts.
I dropped 80 bucks & got:
Werner "erector set ladder", axe & maul
P1010013.JPG

Shovel, rake, mattock, hitch flag pole, landscape shovel, 2 digging bars, Fiskars extendable pruner, 4 grain shovels & about 100 dvds

P1010011.JPG

Then some signs & a beer mirror.

P1010008.JPG
When I got home, I thought I should check out the Porcelain Atlantic on ebay.

3Jakes sucked before I even looked at the Eprey listing for the sign!

How do grain shovels differ from snow shovels?
Funny thing, my favorite snow shovel for the 1-2 footer is a grain shovel.
They are bowl shaped in the handle end & drop less snow while tossing.
Sort of a scoop on the handle end, & flat against the concrete on the other.
Found used, they are usually worn badly on the scraping end as they are unprotected aluminum.
Three of these are in very good shape as far as that is concerned.

Thanks, guys. That is one long screwdriver. IMG_1790.jpeg
The Crescent wrench cleaned up well.IMG_1802.jpegIMG_1801.jpeg
The Vaco screw starter looks pretty freshIMG_1800.jpeg
Unfortunately the previous owner was really into engraving his tools. Every little Craftsman wrench was engraved as were the Thorsen sockets.

Wife and I escaped to the Texas Coast for a quick getaway, but you simply can’t not stop at little garage and yard sales along the way…

Been looking for one of these for a while, happened across this one for $15
78C5D391-AA93-497C-BF40-EA0EDE4A27FF.jpeg

At the same sale as the water bag, I got a 1/4” Craftsman RHFT and a 1/4 Craftsman breaker in like new condition for $1 a piece.

At another sale, I picked up a pretty clean Rock Island 591 with good jaws and a straight handle. Got that one for $15 as well. I’ll post pics later.

For now….

After a fun day of Dr appt and x-rays for the co-pilot we grabbed a quick lunch and headed for an estate sale in Tiburon that looked promising. There were some interesting tools and prices were very low. IMG_1818.jpeg
The hacksaw was so ugly I just had to have it. It’s a Disston-Porter

IMG_1819.jpegIMG_1820.jpegAn odd made in England adjustable wrench. IMG_1843.jpeg
Cleaned up the Powr-Kraft tools.IMG_1834.jpeg
The Stanley screwdriver minus a thick coat of rust. IMG_1832.jpeg
Bridgeport DOE.IMG_1835.jpeg
IMG_1836.jpeg
Rusty Crescent tin snips are in the evaporust IMG_1825.jpeg
Beautiful drive on the way home. IMG_1814.jpeg

'Yesterday I had an appointment in the larger nearby city, so I went early to hit a sale at an estate company warehouse. Not bad for $8.00:

Estate.jpg
Channellock 460 pliers
Martin? DOE obstruction 1-1/2" with no markings. Appears unused.
Proto 1312PC hammer
Small hammer/screwdriver

Then I hit the Restore:
Restore.jpg
Craftsman WF punch
3/8 x 8" tommy bar, unmarked
Thorsen "V" 3019 DOE 19/32 x 11/16
Barcalo Buffalo DOE 19/32 x 11/16
Xcelite TA-12 Torque Amplifier
AMSCO U.S.A. #ND10 "HOLLOWSHAFT" nut driver 5/16
1/2 drive sockets:
Trapezoid "D" Duro 4-pt. 9/16
Trapezoid "D" Duro 6-pt. 13/16
Bog-ish 6-pt. 3/8
New Britain-ish 12-pt. 7/8
Powr-Kraft 12-pt. 1/2 Indestro sourced
S.R. 12-pt. 11/16
Indestro 3415 battery pliers

There was a very well-made, home-built creeper I couldn't resist. After a few drops of oil, the flying saucer wheels work like new.
Creeper 1.jpg
Fortunately, it was half-price day, so I escaped for $18.00 total.

Just picked this up at a thrift shop for $25. They thought it was a high end toaster oven. No idea how it ended up there, but it cleaned up nice and works, and is going straight to eBay. The commercial nacho chip dispenser was $5 and just kind of cool not to get.

I hit a charity reuse store in Ephrata PA 2 times this week and bought some "measure-y things" to add to the collection. I messed up my architectural scale from HS using it with a craft knife (duh) on the most useful scale/edge for drafting. I love vintage advertising rulers and the subject is spot on for me as my desk is a GF tanker.

20250412_152512.jpg 20250412_152521.jpg

We are currently combing the house for GS items as we will be involved in the May 3 Town Wide GS sale here.

My first drafting teacher would have left your hands bleeding for that!

He insisted the scale was for marking ONLY--a straight-edge was for connecting the marks.
