Hi,

Do any of you have a mini-split heat pump that qualifies for the tax credit that would be big enough for my 28 x 32 with 12' ceilings and a 12 x 32 with 7' ceiling attic space? I don't think 24k btu is enough but do any of you have experience? R19 walls and r38 ceiling with 2" foam under the slab and r14 garage doors.

Thanks,
Tom

two ton is enough

remember you don't need it 60 degrees in the garage

you should keep it in dehumidify mode all the time and then just wind it down when you are working

I have 3 mitsubishi's in my house.

Fujitsu's HFI system goes up to 4 ton if it comes down to it, you'd just run two wall mounts instead of 1. Thing is; as far as I know, there exist no split systems > 24k that qualify for the credit--you can pump out some crazy SEERs all day long, but there is also a steep EER req on the tax credit that starts to bang up against the laws of physics when you get to units above a certain size.
That said, depending on where you live 24k may be plenty. I mean if you happen to live in Orlando a 15-18k might even be enough...
