Nice base, GeoBruin. But turning is not going to be easy.
The front and rear wheels are lifted up higher so they don't touch the ground. As a result, the wheels that do touch the ground are wider than they are long, so it kind of "tank turns". Like one of these Rhino Carts.

It doesn't turn as well as if I had big swivel casters in all four corners but it turns well enough for something that doesn't move every day and has the smallest possible footprint.

A shop I worked in had a Swedish Solberga gearhead drill press. That thing was a machine. You couldnt stop it. Its long been on my list to find one. Id put it up against any belt driven conventional drill press, US made or imported. Loved that thing. But you better treat it with respect or it will wrap you up, no belt to slip to save your *** either.
Maybe I shouldn't show you this one?
I love this thing.

As to the other comments about using a mill to drill holes...
Yeah, it works... but a drill press is way quicker for simple holes that don't require precision spacing and a drill has a much larger work envelope.
You can put a lot more torque to a morse taper drill bit than you can with a chuck or collet too.
A drill press will only drill holes but they do that task Very well.

Agreed.

I picked this one up for $200 yesterday.

Needs a base plate, otherwise works fine.
Edit... nevermind, can't load screenshots still.

Oooh very nice. From the pic and my shoddy memory it looks almost exactly like the one in my old shop. Nothing like it. Lesson one when I first used it: USE A VISE. Coming from the land of ****** import drill presses that will easily slip belts it was an eye opener.

I have my full size milling machine in my garage lag bolted to 4x8s so I can easily slip a pallet jack beneath it and move it wherever I want to. It rolls easily when you are using a pallet jack.

The Delta I got the base is busted. Thinking of just throwing together a frame with wheels.

I made a base that makes it relatively easy to move my Mill, and acts as a leveling stand when the feet are down.

I have a very tiny shop, so my mill lives in a corner, which really is the most space efficient face place for a mill with a long ram.

I have a drill press, but I have contemplated getting rid of it because I could use the space, but then I realize just how little space it takes up, and I second guess the decision.
This base is really cool. I like it a lot.

Are you sure Buffalo is even USA made? I had some ultra cheap Buffalo hand tools back in the mid 1980's and they were poorest quality foreign made garbage known to man.

I searched for "new buffalo drill press" on google and couldn't find anything. Can you post a link to the drill press in question?
lol, tool tent sale motto 2-10 two minutes out the door and 10 feet away and we run for are lives before the buffalo tools melted like hot butter in the sun.:giggle::rolleyes:

I have something similar on my lathe. Makes life so much easier!

"Made in the US" is basically meaningless these days. Finally assembly might have been in the US, but I can guarantee at least half the components were imported.
Why do people repeat this ********? We have some of the strictest labeling standards in the world and if you think a company is breaking them you can personally report them for investigation.

This is my personal experience working in US manufacturing. I literally see it everyday.
