Gloss Black Machinist Top Chest?

Would like to get a machinist style top chest for my work box that matches the roller and locker, which are gloss black.

Kennedy is my go-to for machinist boxes, but they don't have anything in gloss black.

I'd prefer smaller drawers, the tools will be smaller and lighter, but I guess I'm not opposed to a "regular" mechanic's box. Snap-on doesn't appear to make a top chest that is designed to fit the Classic 36, only a drawer section. I could go smaller SO, something like the smaller Heritage tops I guess. I would prefer smaller drawers if I could find some.

Roller is a Snap-on Classic 36 and the locker is a Matco of some flavor, so I'm not worried about needing the brands to match, but I would prefer the colors to at least be the same.

Any other makers worth considering?

36" is a bit of an odd ball size. Homak makes a couple 36" top chests in different series with different drawer configs.

The Rousseau-made Tekton 36 upper is really sweet but way overkill.

Anyone use a Masterforce box from Menards lately?

This might work. Wish the drawers were a bit smaller but at this point beggars can't be choosers lol.

Masterforce are decent, I would say no better or worse than US general which are built pretty decent

I have the previous generation of 36" box (top, bottom, and a side drawer stack). It's a pretty big step up from the US general stuff. Slides are better, latches are worlds better, general build quality is better. You should insect on in person, if you can, as I think the drawer extension is not as full as I'd like (it's better on the bottom chest).

How deep is the Classic 36 ? That Masterforce is 24" deep it appears.

The Series 3 HF US General 27" box isn't a bad box. I think it's better than the older Cman with BB slides I had before it.

The Classic is 24" deep, so it would fit.

If I have time I may swing by Menards and give it a once over.

Honestly I don't dislike the HF you linked, I just like the drawer config. of the Masterforce better.

I get that Clyde.

I'm just one of those that prefers the larger drawers where I can divide them up for what works for me.

I just wanted to throw it out there as it is a decent box for the money.

Ended up getting the Masterforce.

Just got it set on top, had to take off the right hand side handle, but other than that it seems to fit nice.

It was the only thing I could find with a drawer configuration that would work. I would have preferred all the drawers be half width, but this should work fine.

Part of the reason I wanted a top box was to balance out the locker weight, it’s not meant for a box this small haha. I cut a plate of 1/2” stainless on the laser to try to add some heft, but it really needed the top chest so it wasn’t trying to wheelie.
