I was going to say how having the man doors installed really gives the building some perspective then you go and park the Ram in there with the camper and holy ****, that thing is HUGE!

Sorry, not a Dodge, (Ram) I was told many years ago that if you looked up “dodge” in the dictionary the first definition was “TO AVOID”! Sorry Cam!!! That’s my 2006 GMC and my other truck is a 2004 F350 with a 6.0!

Building crew got 95% of the wall sheets done. They need a couple replacement sheets that got cut wrong for over the 10’ high door and they’re waiting on more trim for the office window before they can hang the last sheets on the front wall.2ADEB4F3-C2F0-4275-8BBE-E8A3C32B9A04.jpeg
They got the south, west, and north walls done and installed 3 of the corner trim. The trim for the power gable vents should be here early next week too.

Really liking how the man doors turned out, I think I’ve walked in and out a dozen times with a stupid grin on my face!

This corner will get finished up after they get the rest of the wall sheets hung.

Went to the Prescott Home Show and got to check in with the garage door guy. He said my doors are going to ship May 7th and that he should have them installed hopefully within 2 weeks after he received them. That gives myself and my wife a couple weeks to paint the red iron garage door framing the same color as the trim. My general contractor recommended using a direct to metal paint from Sherwin-Williams…..2FA68A25-DB51-4168-9970-5C9A41852061.jpeg
Anybody here have experience painting red iron, any tips?

I do not have any recommendations for that specific application but I will tell you I have used that paint exact paint when restoring a flat bed car hauler trailer frame and it came out fantastic. It's good stuff. 👍

Sorry, I knew I shouldn't have put the "RAM" in there. That's what I get for assuming. (as he walks away mumbling "stupid idiot"....)

Shop it looking amazing Sterling. Went up fast once they began.

As for your absorption refrigerator in your RV, another thing that helps those absorption refrigerator is to have air circulating. When I had absorption refrigerators in our last two RV's, I put a small fan at an upper level and a lower level and those greatly improved the consistency in temperatures. Hands down the best mod I did on our current coach however, was to install a residential refrigerator. :ROFLMAO:

Mike, I’ve been struggling with this fridge since we got it back in 2020! Right after we got it new the fridge started being undependable. Called up the dealer, was assured that it was covered under warranty, just bring it down and drop it off, they’d get right on it, should have it fixed 2-3 weeks max… The closest dealership to us is 320 miles away round trip and we’d have to make 2 trips back and forth minimum, so… No! I’ll try to figure it out myself! First thing I did was add fans. Here’s my first shot at fixing our Nor(NOT)Cold fridge, bought a fan kit off the internet, decided to try to optimize it as best I could. Mounted the fans per instructions.19BE50C4-8F1F-450F-B5E3-03A4489D36FB.jpeg
Then after looking at it a bit I figured I could maybe make the fans more efficient with some ducting. Using some @zmotorsports best CAD I designed something that should work.92F74270-C2B5-4ECF-8D04-595FF3E35E4F.jpeg
Then I turned it into aluminum!7BCE9949-7139-4F7E-B890-B94018232F26.jpeg
I had to trim the vent cover to clear my handiwork…1932355F-D132-4EAA-8267-67AF89A424E2.jpeg
That seemed to cure the fridge, it maintained cold temps, even kept ice cream frozen during our annual trip to SpeedWeek @ Bonneville in August, so success! Or so I thought!

Sorry, Sterling, The fans I added were inside the refrigerator itself. I had fans in the back of the fridge (enclosure) as well, but more specifically, I added a couple to the inside of the refrigerator and that really helped, almost more than the ones in the back.

Our first two motorhomes never had any absorption refrigerator issues, even when using in the desert in 100* ambient temps. Granted, they were worked hard, but they kept things cool. The refrigerator in our Dynasty worked about the same for the first 8 or so years we had it, until one trip when it didn't. That was all it took for me to not even mess with it and replace it with a residential, although that is less of an option in a camper due to space constraints.

Nor(NOT)Cold Part 2….
After our trip to Bonneville 2020 I felt that I could improve the fridge a bit more so I installed the interior fans that I had kept from our old camper when it got traded in.92467536-BA72-4230-B033-E3C8ABC05708.jpeg
With these in place my wife and I then traveled on the longest trip in our rig ever. We went to Victorville, California for our annual SCTA club awards banquet. We stopped overnight at the Hole in the Wall area to break up the trip, as I like to drive about 5-6 hours before setting up for the afternoon and getting to relax a bit.

At the banquet had a great time, I got a key box custom painted and even won a great print by Jeff Norwell!12394786-9DBB-407F-A383-DC7D6997BC50.jpeg84D45A9E-0983-4B23-9251-F71A89805024.jpeg
Soon my new shop will be “Norwell Equipped”!
After the banquet we headed east, destination North Carolina!

And, at our first stop, the fridge was not as cool as it should be!!!

Yesterday the building crew pretty much finished about 90% of my shop, they just have to get the last of the wall done above my 10’ high door and then trim it out and install the gutters and downspouts. They also have to replace the end gable peak trim as it’s the wrong color. Very happy those guys are gone, they should stick to commercial building installs and not personal shop builds. It was a constant struggle to keep them from destroying all my trees and yard!1DDF70FF-E43C-4F19-9F02-B30695EC9D12.jpegEB08D2AF-E083-4EB1-BE22-458D7A76443D.jpegMy wife pointed out the cordless impact they left up on the roof above the second door, too bad it’s not RED! 😂
Shop does look great, excited to start the next stage!3618155F-5FAC-497B-AC00-2607CE5444D3.jpeg

Some days you get some good with the bad….

Good: Got rolling scaffolding setup with my neighbor’s help. Now my wife and I can paint the red iron rollup door framing. Going to paint it to match the building trim.
E50415CE-43FD-42F5-BE45-6BE64DEF8926.jpeg

Bad: Discovered a complete branch from our biggest oak tree laying on the ground.

F@&#$!?ing building crew broke it off the last day they were working on the building! Wife is livid, building contractor is not going to like the coming conversation.

Actually ran into the building contractor when we were getting fuel on our trip to Flagstaff today. Bit my tongue and only told him about the cordless tool left on the roof. Weekends are not the time to air grievances or complaints.

Ughh that *****. I hate it when crews have no regard for others property and completely destroy everything around them while doing their work.

Large trees in AZ are few and far between and hard to come by so I'd be speaking up about it as well. I'm sure they are going to say what can we really do about it. How do you compensate for a broken tree, but it's still the principal of damaged personal property. Hope they resolve in a satisfactory way according to your wife for your sake 🤣

That’s a fact! And these are Live Oaks, take hundreds of years to get as large as these are. I didn’t know that there were Live Oaks growing in Arizona! I have a buddy that lives in Placerville, California, and his area there looks just like this one. Crazy!
The building crew wanted me to cut down one so they could easily install around 40 screws in this side of the building. When we refused they just forced their man lift thru the tree and “trimmed” it their way! I’m going to discuss it with my general. He has not been happy with this ****. He says he has had many buildings done perfectly by this company but this is the first with the crew out of Phoenix.

Local crew from the building contractor came out this morning to get the shop finished. They got all the correct panels, gutters and downspouts installed. Looks great!

I’m now working on painting the rollup door red iron frames before the garage doors get installed in the next couple weeks. Electricians also got the main power panel installed. Progress is good, next I need to work on the liner panels inside the shop!

Yesterday I got all the trim around the garage doors masked off, used the wide tape cuz I **** at painting!03D0E9C8-609A-4B1C-9B69-626AEA83ADAD.jpeg1A7D247F-74AE-43E8-80E1-1E9B2C9863F4.jpeg
Today I had to wait till after noon so the red iron wouldn’t be in the sun before I got started painting. Followed the guy at Sherwi-Williams advice and used a small brush in the tight areas and a fine roller for the large flat areas. Went on super easy and I got a first coat on everything before I lost light this evening.
F9D6D7E3-C283-4113-A494-5CE6A82F7DA2.jpeg
I need to go to the paint store and thank the guy that mixed the paint. He spent close to an hour getting it to be almost a perfect match! Tomorrow my wife and I will do a second coat and then I think it will look even better than it does now!FAC874C3-0B87-45EE-898D-B1877556DDFB.jpeg8F623A09-875B-4B43-BEA3-9C2F14F313F2.jpeg
With the door frames painted the same color as the trim the shop has a different feel to it, seems less industrial now. My wife and I really like it painted!

Always nice when someone does as promised. Garage door crew showed up today as scheduled. Three trucks and 6 guys. Said they’d have everything done by end of day. They’re even going to take a bunch of dead extension cords I got from my father and make pigtails for the openers so I can plug them into my power extension cord and run the doors until the electrician gets them wired permanently!

I’ll get a picture on here after they’re done, excited to see how the doors look and work!

Picked up two of these from Tractor Supply a couple days ago.

Today the building crew got them installed up in the peak of the end walls. These should really help control summer temperatures and make the shop much more comfortable. As a bonus I could use them to clear out fumes from welding and painting!
4BA49882-F8C0-441D-A309-134BA9D3C748.jpeg8F3A2CD2-6DBC-48E2-BAAB-0CA533BF2296.jpegC126631D-57FF-48D0-9860-1275F2E06FB7.jpeg
Side walls may not get finished this week because some of the trim is damaged and or not the correct color and some of the siding sheets for above the one rollup door are too short! Hopefully they will still get it dried in by the end of next week as they were estimating.
Your sh*t is dope.

Doors look great and the LiftMaster openers are so smooth and quiet! So happy and relieved to have the shop finally dried in and my wife and I can start on the inside build.
How the inside looks now….

My superhuman wife and I hand loaded 36 of these Versa-Lock cap blocks at the local block plant. We’re going to place them at all the man doors as landings to pass code temporarily until we can afford to do our apron pour. Those blocks weigh about 70 lbs each. I was wore out, good thing she’s tougher than I am!

Very Cuul sterling. We left my lift at sheriff facility for the last 6 months waiting on approval to finish up a couple details. So I had one of the guys swing by yesterday to check the batteries and he found this

IMG_2580.jpeg

😂 ya it was a joke and a good one at that.

We’re scheduled to wipe it out next Thursday and I’ll swing in and pick her up

Yes, 120V and 3000 CFM! The two of those should move a load of hot air out and bring in some cooler air! Got them at Tractor Supply, even saved a few bucks cuz they’ll price match!

Who did they price match? I might need a few of those in the horse barn.

I have TC price match stuff all the time. I have even gotten them to price match eBay and Amazon. They rarely blink an eye at anything I have ever asked, even when the price is like 40% off.
