What spraypaint colors have you found that most closely resemble the original for these three? I have one soaking in Simple Green now. I’m going to paint one black but another grey.

And has it been determined which color is period correct for approximately which years?
For the early WWII to 1956 blue-gray, Krylon Matte Dark Pearl is an excellent match. Check this post:

For the 1957 to early '60s Power Bronze, Rustoleum Champagne Mist is not bad, but I'm not fond of the gloss finish though. I have top coated RCM with Rustoleum Dead Flat Clear a couple times.
Rustoleum Hammered Gold has also been used. It may be slightly darker though.

For the later dark gray, I dunno. :dunno:
I painted this with Rustoleum High Performance Wheel Spray Paint Metallic Graphite. It was OK, but not too close to the Craftsman . darker gray

@FrankLee , Thanks for the two color recommendations.

I’ve just checked the dates of manufacture on my three Craftsman block bench grinders and they are 1965, 1967 and 1975. (I knew that none were pre-block Power Bronze.) So, it appears that all three grinder pedestal stands will be finished in “I dunno” dark gray. :)

I haven’t decided yet whether to match the dark gray used on the grinder — or to contrast with it.

Personally, I like the looks of the minimalist grinder stands, but for safety sake, will be anchoring the base in some substantial way. (Likely a thick circular steel drop (as soon as I source it.))

Finally, if anyone thinks we should add the casting numbers from the base and top plates to the inventory spreadsheet, it would be very easy for me to check and contribute the three that I just obtained.

Howdy,

This has been an incredibly helpful thread, but I've come across a couple of pedestal stands with casting numbers that don't match the above list on eBay.

One is a table saw stand (unsure if 8" or 10") with a bracket casting number of 35248-103, and the other appears to be a pedestal stand unique to the Craftsman "40" model 4-3/8 jointer with a bracket casting number of 35244-103. Anyone have any more information on these?
I just got a stand that I believe is for a 4 3/8 jointer. 35244-103. I found a 4 3/8 inch jointer in a 1959 catalog that matches the Mounting dimensions 5 3/8 x 25 13/16 inches. Can't seem to find the catalog number for the pedestal in the catalog. Curious if I'm correct about this or if I'm totally off base.

Adding one more photo.
