When fuel pours out of the carb, its generally a stuck bowl float. Sometimes a gentle tap on the side of the carburetor bowl will do the trick. Glad it's working for you now.
I tried whacking the carb bowl with my screwdriver handle when it was acting up, but I never could get it started when it was freezing out.

I always shut the fuel valve off and let it run until it stalls, so I never leave gas in the carb while its stored. Go figure. Maybe its just a generator for the warmer months only lol.

We use painter's masking tape over the ends of the pipes when doing sanitary welds. It allows one to easily control the pressure and flow easily by poking holes in the tape with the tungsten. With the thin-wall sanitary tubing, you need to get the pressure just right so the weld stays level with the surface--not sunken and not puffed out.
Good info. I have a few random questions you may be the guy to answer:

Is this for an autogenous weld?
Is the tubing thick enough to be beveled?
If using a belt sander to bevel tubing or get it flat is an Aluminum Oxide belt Ok? If not what would you use?
I'm going to poke some tiny holes in the silicone to vent some gas pressure and let the room air escape, thinking of using 5 cfh Argon

Thank you

Yes, autoweld. 100% penetration and no visible gap so no need to feed.

No, no bevel--see above.

I use flapdisks on an angle grinder to true up the ends of the tubing. The main thing is to use it ONLY for stainless. I think the abrasive is Al oxide, but not sure.

Using tape works because you can look at your tacks and adjust on the fly. Sanitary tubing is likely thinner than muffler pipe, else you wouldn't be asking about bevels. I just mic'd a piece--0.045, or roughly 18 ga. There's also the "sanitary" thing--the weld has to be able to be Cleaned-In-Place (CIP), as it may be twenty feet down a long and winding run. There's no polishing a turd in this stuff. I think muffler pipe may be more forgiving (but you probably want it looking like ****).

give me a shout if you are having trouble and I'll have a drink with / for you
Well, should you ever find yourself on the wrong side of the Big Drink, I'll gladly shout you one!

I had to change an inner tube on a pump cart tire today. I went to the local grange first because it's the closest. I brought the tube and tire with me. The young fella' behind the counter asked "Make and model?"

So I went to NAPA, where there is an actual old parts guy behind the counter: "Make and model?"

FFS, it's an inner tube!

I finally got it at Les Schwab--but he still had to look it up on the computer.

I guess I'm a dinosaur--I expect to just go to the rack full of OPE tires and tubes and find what I want... like auto and machine belts....

Make and model....

Today the part numbers are not always related to the size, example 10x20 #4005 4.5x5 #4006....
You would be back there opening boxes for days.....
Belts have gone to metric sizes...............
Silverado serpentine belt AC Delco 55578811, Durolast 930K6, Dayco(the only number here that tells you the size) 5060925....

But, these are just pneumatic tires for wheelbarrows, lawnmowers and ****. I buy them to fab things. Do I need to start registering my own make and model for the **** I make?

In this case, the tire was for a twenty-five-year old Karcher pressure washer cart I re-purposed to a pump cart.

No that's where the current numbering systems get assine, there is probably a catalog(PDF of course)/buyers guide ect that transfers the actual size range of the tube to the current part number you just have to hope the counter person knows how to find it and use it.
That's why I find more and more I'd rather look up my own part numbers we the access we now have to the parts houses I can find out what brands they have in stock, a coupe hours away, a day away etc and real time pricing, a image of the part so you can confirm it's what you want, in fact on one of my suppliers sites it actually gives me instore location Asile, shelf, bin etc just like Home Depot...
Tire supplier actually shows tire serial numbers in the cart before you check out so you can ensure your not getting 3, 1 month old tires and 1, 16 month tire for that order.

Called the parts store for plugs for cx5, "ya we have them, I'll set them aside for you. Name?". Can you go touch them please, I don't trust what the screen says. They had them.

Notched the piece that bolts to the saw and fitted it into place. Cleaned up the pieces and got them clamped together for welding.
I am working with 2” X 3/16 flat bar.
I will probably use 1/8 7014 electrode at about 100 Amps of AC.

Spent all morning at the Credit Union straightening out some stuff on a couple of accounts.

Came out to get out of the stink in the house. Floor guy is fixing warped hardwoods in kitchen and breakfast nook. Small job. He pulled up bad wood, sanded a larger area, and stained before he left. He will put first coat of finish on tomorrow. Today is just kind of bad, the finish is horrible. Tomorrow night might ****.
Maybe I'll put last weekend tools away while I have a beer. Watching the bees enjoy the white clover that is my lawn.

You n me both. I occasionally have lovely dreams of Western n National Auto stores. The other night I walked through Steinhardt's, all the way back through the motor shop, and watched old Jim turn the commutator on a generator.

Finally got to put the new exhaust in wife's car. School ended last week, so it's not gone all day, and she's busy with the garden, so I could get it for the whole afternoon.

I reworked the cat outlet with a new flange, so that a stock resonator and pipe would bolt up. Some previous owner had bastardized it with a welded connection, probably because the flange had rotted away.

When I moved to Wallowa county over thirty years ago, we had four hardware stores and one lumber yard in town alone. Another general mercantile six miles down-valley in Lostine and a lumber yard and hardware store six miles up-valley in Joseph. The stores were all stocked incredibly well, as the county is far off the beaten track and if they didn't have it, it might be weeks before anyone could get it.

Kaufman's Hardware in Enterprise was founded in something like 1910. The entire basement of the store was floor-to-ceiling bins and hardwood drawers, full of everything imaginable--and old man Kaufman knew where every single thing was.

We even had a men's wear store that would custom-tailor your jeans and coats and custom block your hats and boots. Elgin Boot and Saddle--forty-five minutes away--would make you custom boots and saddles, or re-stitch your old, worn work boots for five bucks while you waited. The saloon just down the block was a nice place to wait.

Auto parts stores had everything and countermen who knew what was what and where it was. Need an odd-size hydraulic hose or drive belt? They'd make one up for you.

No more... **** I feel old sometimes.

It's a Florida generator - for hurricanes.
It also runs on beer.

Welding table only has a couple small pieces to have sharp edges taken off and wiper blade swaps for this weekend.

Hope to get my skidplate spacer plates in for drilling at work this week as they are quite thick to do other than a drill press.

thinking I May pick one of these up for NASCAR and wheelin vids. Fits perfect in a spot if I get rid of some floor standing speakers up high.

You won't regret it ! I love having a TV in the shed for my interests, although it can be a distraction sometimes. Are 'wheelin' vids motorcycles doing wheelies ?

Watching TV or YT while sharpening tools... it hasn't always worked out well for me.

Sorry--the Bandaids were closer than the duct tape.

Me either, I put a razor sharp hunting knife (the stag gripped one I posted recently) diagonally through my left index finger between the two finger joints. - doc that stitched it up said I half severed the top tendon... after 6 weeks in a split I could not fully bend it anymore for like two years and that was with working it every day.

Interestingly I can curl that one more tightyl than my on my right hand. Actually that's true of all the left fingers vs. the right. I think being totally right handed has made the rights slightly "muscle bound"

What? You were out of duct and electrician's tape?

Last night I spent the evening modifying a pair of LC-300 Hosetract hose reels so they can be hung off of the trusses in my garage. I got a 250' long 3/4" garage compressed air line kit that I will be installing to use with these. These hose reels are beasts. They weigh 46# each. That is without hose on them. It is going to take a bit of dancing around on a ladder to get them hung up there safely. We'll get there. No pictures yet but they will be coming later.

What? You were out of duct and electrician's tape?

That one took 16 stitches in 2 layers...

I did rip open the heel of my right hand once unloading half a car frame off a truck bed, and it flipped over past center and slashed it open. Maybe 1/4" deep and 1-1/2" long or so. That one got a paper towel compress until I could drive home from the dump, clean it and then bandage it shut, also with compress.

Took that to the company doc two days later on Monday and she told me it should have been stitched - too late now... so she re-cleaned it, showed me a better way to bandage it, and sent me off. It had a lump inside it for years that finally faded maybe 2 decades later. It is one of my rougher scars but it was also a more jagged rip than most other injuries. The near severed left middle finger tip is worse. (went completely through a pedal sprocket and chain...)
