Pretty good morning today, a decent amount of sales to hit.

....

Next was a few copper clad pans 1 has made in Portugal for $20. I know someone recently found a whole bunch them on here, can’t remember who though.

Are the ones with shiny inside Revere Ware? If so, it sells alright, but I hate using it. The liner is stainless steel and everything seems to stick to it--IME.

Those aren't Revere Ware. They're copper cookware with a tin coating for the food. Quite desirable if cleaned up.

My first set of pots and pans was the hand-me-down Revere set, I kinda wish I'd kept them.

That looks much more like an SS liner than tinning. You can get tin to look that bright--for an hour or two before it grays again.

Revere made a line of copper pots and pans with the SS liner. I've had a couple of their skillets and passed them on to friends who don't have as many shits to give about the utility of cookware--just about the appearance of it.

I have several tinned cooper skillets and lots of CI--which you're welcome to when they're pried from my cold, dead fingers....

I think the handles and rivets are wrong for those.

Wonder of wonders, there were three interesting sales in my neck of the woods, and two of them didn't disappoint.
54707967027_e5922ec5b9_b.jpg\
The first sale I hit was run by a woman I know, and she gave me a great deal. Here I found the 3/4hp electric motor (untested), pressed steel socket set, 9/32" socket driver, pencil sharpener burrs, Snap-on screw driver, and brace drill chuck for $5. The second stop was a family run sale, and they were trying to scratch every two nickels together. A lot of interesting things, but they wanted way to much for most of them. I picked up the Duro/Indestro braker bar and Walden flextension for $1. Finally, another family run sale that had no pics in the ad, but mentioned a full sized shop. Well, it was full of mostly cheap tools, but I did manage to find a bunch of small taps, 10-32 all they way down to 2-56, a Starrett box with a couple pieces of HSS steel, and a few US made end mills, again paying $5.

So, a nice day for $11 total.
You would have earned a "You ****" for the pressed steel socket set alone, but for $5...

So much ****.

This weekend is the annual "Bargains Galore on 64" state wide garage sale held on and near U. S. highway 64 From West Memphis to Ft. Smith, Arkansas. It was very hot so we didn't go far or look at much.

I'm a sucker for 5 gallon military style gas cans; they are like potato chips. For $5 who could say no. The inside has surface rust. Put some chain and gravel in it and shake like mad. Removes rust and gives one a good cardio workout. :ROFLMAO: Follow that with an acid etch and gas tank sealer.

I also found a smaller no-name ball peen hammer for a buck. I've cleaned it up. The handle isn't correct but I don't care.

1754772938242.jpeg

Not shown is a new, clip light with the spun aluminum reflector. It's identical to the one pictured below, except I paid $5. I plugged it in and didn't get electrocuted so I guess it's OK.

Some nice scores guys!

This morning I left the house a bit late, but with a plan to go to the tiny flea market.

I only made it to the corner when I spotted a yard sale sign on the next block. Something told me to check it out.

I pull up to the house with the sign and see one small table of stuff out back. :confused:Another sign read “More stuff inside”. Things were looking up. It was about 8:30 and the sale looked dead. I pulled into the next driveway to make 3 pt turn and park. Suddenly a work truck comes barreling down the street before I can even back out. I assumed they were passing through but no, they slam to a stop facing the wrong way exactly where I was about to park.

Two guys jump out of the truck and rush into the backyard. I was slightly irritated but parked and followed in behind them.
No one in the backyard. Just a table of misc. household stuff, and the guys hustled to it. I saw a sign “Just walk in” by the back door. I opened the door with the two guys right on my heels. I was greeted by two nice older ladies who said come on in and a room full of household goods and collectibles for sale.

My eyes shot around the room and stopped on a big tray of tools at about shin height right in front of me. Big neon green sign read “.50 each”. As I’m bending to look, the two guys barely through the door behind me, I see a Snap-On ratchet handle buried in the mix. No way! Here? Knowing I needed to act quick or step aside, I blurted out “How much for the whole thing?” One lady jokingly says 100 bucks. The other says, “Hmmm, $8.”. SOLD! I wasn’t playing around with those bozos after they tried to beat me out.

The one guy asked if there were any more tools. The lady said no that’s all they had and the guys immediately split. I thought they might go mess up my car. I felt slightly bad but hey, I got to them first.

Anyway, it was almost all ladies stuff. My wife and I went back this afternoon and dropped 25 bucks on some nice clothes and jewelry for her. The women were super nice and prices cheap. I think she left with about 20 items.

A further look through the tray of tools and I was quite happy! Turned out to be a long Snap-On 1/4” ratchet, several extensions, an S-K extension, Blue-Point screwdrivers and socket driver, hiding in there too! Others are Craftsman, Stanley, Commercial Electric, Vaco, Gearwrench, Diehard, Klein,etc.. I made a good quick decision for once. The flea market after yielded nothing, but the sale certainly surprised.

3bay. I am a firm believer in Karma/balance, and your story is a perfect example.

On the opposite side, when I had a cleaning out sale here, the first guy in immediately rushed to the bin labelled Snap-On (had stuff nearly sorted by brand), yelled at others trying to look, and after a couple min, grabbed the entire tub (probably chafing dish sized or larger) and asked me how much for everything. He didn't like my answer of "Several Hundred $$", and after he put it down, wouldn't let anyone look in until he was done. His prices at checkout were substantially higher than the guys who put up with him and were polite to me as they shopped.

start with Murphy's oil soap and then rationalize your re-glue plan for any de-lamination going on, then assess, any structural.

get a larger pair of Vise Grip "LW's 7LW may work 10LM will work.
Once the vise grip is on the chuck, how do I lock the spindle or what do I lock onto?

Thrift store ($25): All American no. 910 pressure cooker (10-1/2 qt)

So I put in some water, set it to 15 pound, turn the gas to high, and watch the pressure gauge ...0....5...10...14.. (CRACK!) as the weight that is slightly sticky loosens off of the pressure release stem. Was almost one of the Depends moments.

I think two options: rely on inertia, and whack the visegrip with a hammer, hard, or use two visegrips against each other (opposite directions), the other on the drill bit.

EDIT - maybe combine the two: lower the bit through the hole in the center of the table, then grab it with one visegrip, allowing the visegrip handle to engage with the underside wall of the table, then lock unto and whack the visegrip on the chuck. I think there’s still a good chance of just breaking off the bit, but this method is probably slightly better than torqueing on the bit with you hand.

Forgot to post this earlier! I grabbed this horn for $3 today. That’s 2 who’s going to have the 3rd !

IMG_6514.jpeg
IMG_6843.jpegNot sure if these should count, since I got them from my FIL’s garage after his passing - three decades ago (they were mounted on an oak plaque, which I also have). I had them over my desk at work for years. Now I plan to remount them and gift them to my SIL-to-be.
Together, they’re “as long as a man.”
“That long?”
“Aye.”
“Some men are longer than others.”
…?

I'm going to wander over to the Craftsman drill press thread as the real solution is to get rid of the crappy quick release chuck, otherwise it's the ol' heave hoe.

1945 RCA radio that someone added a Bluetooth adaptor to. It has a switch on the back to flip it from AM to BT. All the internals look to be original including the speaker so idk how its wired in!

Thanks! Yes, was exactly $8. At first I was thinking I should have dug through, but then I realized I’d have easily spent $8 or more anyway.

That’s a **** worthy haul there @3baygarage! Very nice

Thanks!

I’ve been told that, and do believe in Karma as well. I’ve found and returned 3 wallets found on the road in the past year+. Good Karma.

What LS said below, or to can get a wood screw clap on the belt tight for traction. If the pulley doesn't' spin you should have some grip.

Monthly Col Flea for me today. Hot day too. so a few sellers didn't show, but others made up for it in volume. It didn't matter - slow day overall there for me, but a nice score in one case made up for that.

7-1/2 lbs of Cerro Bend low temp casting/fill alloy -I believe mostly bismuth. This stuff will melt in boiling water easily. Cost me $20. it retails for that per pound generally, so I'm happy. this stuff would probably really help for bending odd-ball bent lantern genny's.

B1-Cerro-Bend.jpg

and a Irwin Bell System marked #3 Phillips driver for a buck:

Bell-ssytem-3-PH-handle.jpg

Bell-ssytem-3-PH.jpg

Off to Estate sale #1:

Spent $15 but:

2 large Jorgensen/Made by Adjustable Clamp co. (after the buyout/merger) Wood clamps:

ES1-a-jorg.jpg

And - taking the hose nozzle collecting in a different direction - 2 Fire hose nozzles, a hydrant wrench (I have others in bronze) Craftsman ignition wrench, and a Proto driver.

ES1-b-Fir-hose-nozzels-hydrent-wrench-CM-Proto.jpg

First yard sale just outside a dud of a block sale:

I saw this: and opened it:

Y1-a-box.jpg

Hated the rust, but flipped the ratchet and saw long C Craftsman and took it, I added the 3 bigger tools from the $1 table and she added 2 for the box and constants. $5 out the door - Rust mitigation starts today...

Y1-b-Long-c-SO-Enders-Androck-driver.jpg

Another YS, a TOO, and this surfaced for another $5:

Spintite set, another Fire hose nozzle, with adapters, a Robertson drive driver, and some odd cutters - more on those later.

Y2-a-Spintites-F-hose-Nozzel-Robertosn-Trimmers.jpg

The Robertson is stamped on the shank:

ROBERTSON CO. LIMITED
MINTON ONT. CANADA
SOCKET SCREWS No. 4, 5, 6
PAT'D IN CANADA 1933

I'm really happy with this find, I have a few Robertson drivers, and have made some - started that way - this is my first from the company itself and I'm guessing its early!

On the odd cutters - Somewhat of a "whatzit" - I figured it out - any guesses?

Y2-b-Trimmers.jpg

And off to the last Estate sale: "everything is a dollar! even furniture!" - I'm guessing they had a horde there at opening, but the leavings were decent:

First thing I picked up an LP Coleman 5120 - my second - I should buy one of the adapters... vent is perfect!:

ES2-a-Coleman-LP-5120-a.jpg

Globe is not - I've never seen a globe crack 'internally" - neither end goes to an edge!

ES2-a-Coleman-LP-5120-b-globe.jpg

Ordinarily I pass on unmarked axes these days, but I suspect there ARE markings under this because the haft IS marked "Wards" - I've been experimenting with heat on rust for rust bluing conversion (take something like this and boil it, and it converts and with "carding" you get a nice blued surface) I've been having good luck heating with a torch? Not sure water is needed, but boiling water is likely safer that a torch for some things (like gun barrels...) to avoid warping

ES2c-Wards-1.jpg

ES2c-Wards-2.jpg

An apparently NOS Corner clamp and a NOT NOS heat diffuser, but I was looking into these after a post about keeping direct flame off the Pyrex "flame ware" and I'm watching for Pyrex coffee pot for the ladies of the house...

ES2d-Corner-clamp-heat-difuser.jpg

And a "cooling rack" I'm planning on making into an oven stand for a Coleman oven on top of a single burner stove like a 400 series with nice "simmering" adjustment. can also be used for a light weight campfire grill

I guess candle wick trimmers , though ones I’ve seen are black. I suppose, if they are stainless, they could be surgical.IMG_6844.jpeg

Bingo!

these have a groove for the wick, and enough meat under the cutting edge to automagically set the wick height. Not sure about those others. I've seen them plated in different colors as well.
