Wow, just catching up after a long weekend on the water. You guys have been BUSY!!!

Suckage to all of yous:

Some nice scores guys!

This morning I left the house a bit late, but with a plan to go to the tiny flea market.

I only made it to the corner when I spotted a yard sale sign on the next block. Something told me to check it out.

I pull up to the house with the sign and see one small table of stuff out back. :confused:Another sign read “More stuff inside”. Things were looking up. It was about 8:30 and the sale looked dead. I pulled into the next driveway to make 3 pt turn and park. Suddenly a work truck comes barreling down the street before I can even back out. I assumed they were passing through but no, they slam to a stop facing the wrong way exactly where I was about to park.

Two guys jump out of the truck and rush into the backyard. I was slightly irritated but parked and followed in behind them.
No one in the backyard. Just a table of misc. household stuff, and the guys hustled to it. I saw a sign “Just walk in” by the back door. I opened the door with the two guys right on my heels. I was greeted by two nice older ladies who said come on in and a room full of household goods and collectibles for sale.

My eyes shot around the room and stopped on a big tray of tools at about shin height right in front of me. Big neon green sign read “.50 each”. As I’m bending to look, the two guys barely through the door behind me, I see a Snap-On ratchet handle buried in the mix. No way! Here? Knowing I needed to act quick or step aside, I blurted out “How much for the whole thing?” One lady jokingly says 100 bucks. The other says, “Hmmm, $8.”. SOLD! I wasn’t playing around with those bozos after they tried to beat me out.

The one guy asked if there were any more tools. The lady said no that’s all they had and the guys immediately split. I thought they might go mess up my car. I felt slightly bad but hey, I got to them first.

Anyway, it was almost all ladies stuff. My wife and I went back this afternoon and dropped 25 bucks on some nice clothes and jewelry for her. The women were super nice and prices cheap. I think she left with about 20 items.

A further look through the tray of tools and I was quite happy! Turned out to be a long Snap-On 1/4” ratchet, several extensions, an S-K extension, Blue-Point screwdrivers and socket driver, hiding in there too! Others are Craftsman, Stanley, Commercial Electric, Vaco, Gearwrench, Diehard, Klein,etc.. I made a good quick decision for once. The flea market after yielded nothing, but the sale certainly surprised.

Monthly Col Flea for me today. Hot day too. so a few sellers didn't show, but others made up for it in volume. It didn't matter - slow day overall there for me, but a nice score in one case made up for that.

7-1/2 lbs of Cerro Bend low temp casting/fill alloy -I believe mostly bismuth. This stuff will melt in boiling water easily. Cost me $20. it retails for that per pound generally, so I'm happy. this stuff would probably really help for bending odd-ball bent lantern genny's.

B1-Cerro-Bend.jpg

and a Irwin Bell System marked #3 Phillips driver for a buck:

Bell-ssytem-3-PH-handle.jpg

Bell-ssytem-3-PH.jpg

Off to Estate sale #1:

Spent $15 but:

2 large Jorgensen/Made by Adjustable Clamp co. (after the buyout/merger) Wood clamps:

ES1-a-jorg.jpg

And - taking the hose nozzle collecting in a different direction - 2 Fire hose nozzles, a hydrant wrench (I have others in bronze) Craftsman ignition wrench, and a Proto driver.

ES1-b-Fir-hose-nozzels-hydrent-wrench-CM-Proto.jpg

First yard sale just outside a dud of a block sale:

I saw this: and opened it:

Y1-a-box.jpg

Hated the rust, but flipped the ratchet and saw long C Craftsman and took it, I added the 3 bigger tools from the $1 table and she added 2 for the box and constants. $5 out the door - Rust mitigation starts today...

Y1-b-Long-c-SO-Enders-Androck-driver.jpg

Another YS, a TOO, and this surfaced for another $5:

Spintite set, another Fire hose nozzle, with adapters, a Robertson drive driver, and some odd cutters - more on those later.

Y2-a-Spintites-F-hose-Nozzel-Robertosn-Trimmers.jpg

The Robertson is stamped on the shank:

ROBERTSON CO. LIMITED
MINTON ONT. CANADA
SOCKET SCREWS No. 4, 5, 6
PAT'D IN CANADA 1933

I'm really happy with this find, I have a few Robertson drivers, and have made some - started that way - this is my first from the company itself and I'm guessing its early!

On the odd cutters - Somewhat of a "whatzit" - I figured it out - any guesses?

Y2-b-Trimmers.jpg

And off to the last Estate sale: "everything is a dollar! even furniture!" - I'm guessing they had a horde there at opening, but the leavings were decent:

First thing I picked up an LP Coleman 5120 - my second - I should buy one of the adapters... vent is perfect!:

ES2-a-Coleman-LP-5120-a.jpg

Globe is not - I've never seen a globe crack 'internally" - neither end goes to an edge!

ES2-a-Coleman-LP-5120-b-globe.jpg

Ordinarily I pass on unmarked axes these days, but I suspect there ARE markings under this because the haft IS marked "Wards" - I've been experimenting with heat on rust for rust bluing conversion (take something like this and boil it, and it converts and with "carding" you get a nice blued surface) I've been having good luck heating with a torch? Not sure water is needed, but boiling water is likely safer that a torch for some things (like gun barrels...) to avoid warping

ES2c-Wards-1.jpg

ES2c-Wards-2.jpg

An apparently NOS Corner clamp and a NOT NOS heat diffuser, but I was looking into these after a post about keeping direct flame off the Pyrex "flame ware" and I'm watching for Pyrex coffee pot for the ladies of the house...

ES2d-Corner-clamp-heat-difuser.jpg

And a "cooling rack" I'm planning on making into an oven stand for a Coleman oven on top of a single burner stove like a 400 series with nice "simmering" adjustment. can also be used for a light weight campfire grill

ES2e-cooling-stand-oven-stand.jpg

Scorching morning walk at the bootsale today, scored well too! So what did I get?

IMG_8603.jpeg

8” adjustable Bahco wrench is SAAB branded (I’ve seen Volvo ones before) and has a tyre lever cast into the end of it. Mine for a paltry £1 ($1.35). The 10” Eclipse Sheffield made saw blades were double that for the bunch!

IMG_2335.jpeg

The compact Record drill vice I’m very pleased with as it seems a very rarely or carefully used vice. Just a few marks on the face. Model 412 and dimensions as shown. Barcode on the box (but no website address) so at a guess between the early 80’s and the late 90’s when Irwin took over.

£10 ($13.50) firm and I was happy to pay that.

Found this Millers Falls 701 yesterday and couldn’t let it sit. This is absolutely pristine and for all intents, never used. These may be actually made by Goodell-Pratt as I’ve seen some wartime literature on how they saved time & increased production by putting the decimals on the thimble. Either way, proud to add this mic to my collection. Very light and incredibly smooth movement.

I snagged this very nice GE vintage fridge on marketplace for FREE. Thanks to the guy before me that wasted his time. It was bought new around the 40s he said and been in the same place in the basement ever since. He had already brought it up for the previous guy lol. I just backed up and loaded it up. Does anyone know if you have to wait to plug these in after they have been on their side??? I’m waiting to plug it in. I can already taste the garage beers!🍺

First solid score of the year. Delta/rockwell skill saw with stand. Was a free find on FBMP. Goal is to get it cleaned up and running.

Hit a privately listed estate sale of a hoarder., so much stuff to go through.
Nothing was looked at and the guy wemt buy weight of each bag and crate I filled. I had 3 bags and 2 crates
And his price was $10 each. Got some junk I already tossed and here is the better stuff.1000028785.jpg1000028786.jpg1000028787.jpg1000028788.jpg1000028789.jpg1000028790.jpg

I picked these items today at an Estate Sale for $20. When I walked into the garage, I saw a mirror that looked like the passenger mirror for my 62 Impala. Mine is floppy. Sure enough it was and I just went from there.

- 2 Pratt Read Torx Drivers
- Impala Mirror
- Ideal Wire Stripper
- Wire Cutter
- Craftsman Battery Terminal Puller
- Ratchet Screwdriver
- USM Pop Rivet Tool
- Drill Bits (long ones)
- Vintage Exhaust Manifold Gaskets
- Kobalt 6pt 10 Piece SAE 1/4 inch Sockets
- William Bernard - Sargent & Company New Haven Conn made tool (unknown what its used for)

Maybe change the latch. Many kids killed years ago hiding inside those not being able to get out.

Too damned many kids around as it is... and they're on my lawn again.

But I think that was chest freezers--you'd have to pull the shelves out to hide in that.

I know it would be a keggerator if it were mine! If that's you r goal and you have any questions, let me know--I've built several, and mine pour perfectly.

Pretty sure your Crosman has a barrel shroud over the actual barrel--just needs some drillin' and tappin' for the scope base. Being a pneumatic, it should work fine with the old Weaver.
Pump seal went in and it worked . Snapped out a couple 22 cal pellets at 5 pumps. Fires fine. So, now that the drill press is working, do I dare try to tap in the Weaver base. I don't know. I must admit some trepidation. As much as I try to be precise, I just ain't.

What was your solution for the DP?

Doesn't that Crossman have the old style .22 grooves for a clamp on scope mount?

Also I suggest you google the make/model and scope mount and see what has been done in the past.

Look close. There are adapters for the .22 rail to Weaver or Picatinny rail.

But, looking at your DP, I'd have to regretfully say "take it to a gunsmith". Sorry, but getting the mounts perfectly straight, centered and located on the exact top of the gun is critical--if you're using a 'scope, you're looking for added accuracy, not added problems--and that's a beauty of an airgun.

Not sure this was aimed at me, but I believe that rail adapter goes with the scope. what is already on the gun? - I'm not familiar with that particular Crossman model so floating ideas.

Picked all this stuff up at one garage sale right around the corner from my house. I tried but the woman running the sale would not take any more than $10 for everything. I feel like I stole from her and I told her so, she said she was just happy it was going to a good home.

I believe you will want to lay low for several weeks, avoid the police at all costs. There should be a warrant out for your arrest for all that thievery. You ****.

....ah, the joys of being retired. Return trip to a sale I went to in July. Garage was finally opened. Sale started at 10am and I got there around 8:30 and was 4th in line! Was able to get everything I saw in the photos shown in the ad, plus a few other things. Came away with a Craftsman box full of tool....saw a lot of Craftsman among others. Made an offer of $40 for everything and they accepted....
IMG_1738r.jpg
IMG_1740r.jpg
IMG_1741r.jpg
More pics to follow as I unload the goods. Of course, the "No parking sign" and home plate had to come home also....

On my list was a pressure washer if the price was not retail, which it was not....$125 took it home.
IMG_1742r.jpg
Lastly, SWMBO was smitten by some MCM lamps in the photos.....Fleabay usually gets at minimum $185 each....these were had for $175 for the pair...after I grabbed them, a lady behind me in line offered the ES company $250 for them and was told she should have gotten there earlier :ROFLMAO:
IMG_1743r.jpg
Lastly, Lane Acclaim table found space in the family truckster as we already had one and it had been pining for a mate...
IMG_1746r.jpg
...needs a little love, but it will work....

Western Auto, and Proto Trutest in the discard pile? We all have to try to draw the line somewhere:)
When you already have the better tools, the duplicate incomplete sets are not worth keeping to me. Was looking for unusual stuff I don't have already and figure to make back my money at the YS.....

There was one interesting sale local too me, and I think I did pretty good:
54721525975_f42627ef3a_b.jpg
An ex mill wright/Remington collector. Lots of industrial tools, gunsmithing stuff, Native American ephemera, and so on. I left a lot of good stuff behind, as I have too much already, but I did bring home good stuff. Brownells tap and drill set, #50 bits, choke wrenches, long drill bit, shop made pin spanner, Proto hammer, Union drill extractors, Union 10-24 taps, (5) countersinks, Wizard 4", Xcelite needle nose, odd multi-tool. $26 for all of that. They were charging $.50 for most tools, and there were a lot of good things, but I need to cut back as I have no space and a wife eyeing the spaces I use...

Drawing the line is correct. I've given piles of stuff away that came in lots I bought just to get one item. If you can't make a couple pennies off the stuff, or get tired of dragging it to flea markets and swap meets, the local Goodwill or ReStore gets what we consider some "good stuff". Ultimately it probably ends up as scrap metal. You may think another collector might want the stuff, but I've found (even here) its sometimes almost impossible to give stuff away, even with free shipping. I've also NOT bought piles just to not have to deal with all of what I consider scrap. Guess I'm at the point of purging. Classifieds in the future might show so.

That said, anyone wanting some of the stuff I've collected, send me a pm. Not sure I'm ready to cut the Bonney loose just yet, but everything else gets gone.

correct.

"Meteor" doesn't sell. I still have a nice NOS set of Meteor forged ignition wrenches - in the pouch - sitting on ebay for almost a year now. No takers.
"Tru Test" is a total bust - almost can't give it away. I think I stuffed all the "Tru-Test" stuff into "Secret Santa" packages.

Here is my haul from last weekend, running a bit late on posting. Two stops, first was in the city, an apparently recurring one. Was a bit tight on cash, so didn't go crazy. The 1-1/2 inch wide Marples gouge was a steal, so grabbed it and ran before my parking meter ran out.

The second haul was from the last day of an estate sale, right as they cut everything to half price. Got the almost six foot long horse watering tub as a giant planter, and four small tubs for all the cash left in my wallet. The hard part was getting it out of the backyard, and between three cars blocking the path, to my truck. MLW has big plans for it. New ones go for about 5x, and require a drive for me

Just a couple of sales today, TOOs as that's all there is out here if you don't FB. Plus one church sale that was a total bust--I think I'm just going to skip church sales from now on--and fifteen miles of looking for a sale that was signed all over town and then.... nothing.

First sale:

54723341175_832e73e8f4_o.jpg

$6. I can always use another 12" Jorgenson clamp. I didn't have an insulated screwdriver and the Wera will do nicely. Staedtler compass set will come in handy, too.

Second sale:

54723225794_b0a35eba02_o.jpg

$10. Two pair of Petersen VG. I didn't have an 11SP and the 7W will be handy. I think I can salvage a release lever from an Irwin or something. Unlabeled ratcheting tap handle, a nicely made one of a handy size. best of all was the FREE center-finder, which looked at me and said "take me home!" Seeing as it appeared to be a Starrett, I did.

54723225799_bc22425cbc_o.jpg

It'll keep my orphaned LS Starrett rule company.

I might still head down valley and check out the honey-holes... or I might do it tomorrow, as traffic is again crazy--must be the build-up to Labor Day weekend.

I had to go back to the second sale--an estate sale for an older gentleman who'd been a sheet-metal worker for BPA. The guy running the sale thought that other parts of the combo square set might be around (they weren't) and he might have some small tap handles (he didn't).

But one of the left-behinds was also bugging me--a 220E lantern, which I have little interest in--in a really nice shop-built aluminum case. I just wanted the case. He wouldn't separate them, but did come down enough on the price that I have another 220E and a very nice case--plus some goodies in the case:

54722261067_07ebd0ec53_o.jpg

54723106696_d25e31e74b_o.jpg

The lantern still has a near-full tank of fuel. I'll bet it fires right up. I'll give it a try when it cools off some.
