Kind of a weakness in the design maybe, the studs are molded into the plastic of the housing, gotta replace it if they pull out. Cost about 75ish bucks and came with both sides of the housing. Lots of patience, pics, magnetic pick up tool, and torx screwdrivers later and I'm back in business.

Wow! Those studs look like they got really hot to melt the plastic housing like that. At least it looks melted in the pics. Have you figured out what caused the high heat or the failure there? I have one but it's not had that issue. I do have to clean chips and debris out of that area fairly often. Ed.

Plastic got soft from heat or were you having trouble with the bar not staying tight so were cranking down on the nuts?

No heat involved (that I know of) but I did let some relatives use it while we were clearing a trail.....they are pretty big guys but only had the scrench, so I can't really say it was the design and NOT user error!

I was just about to make a long winded posted about how it looks like the studs melted the plastic from heat (say no bar oil), but then I found this video:

Looks like it's a known problem.

Absolutely terrible fastener choice given the application.

Thinking how many users saw/pry with the bar as they force the dull chain through the cut...

While it looks more chinsy that usual, bar mount studs pulling from over tightening the nuts isn't unheard of even in pro grade Magnesium cases. At least with them you can repair via a timesert.

And not uncommon in midgrade stihl and husquvarna clamshell saws with plastic chassis.

Although its more common to actually break the stud itself
