I'll let someone else award you the you **** for the Morse.

I see a Pyramid stovetop toaster hiding under your bench--finest camp toaster made. Price new ones and it'll knock yer socks off
It sits on top of my pc in the shop. If it ever gets hot enough to toast I’m in trouble 😂

We spotted a local TOO on our way home from town on Friday afternoon. It was a repeat of a sale we had picked previously and the only useful item I spotted was a hook I needed to install in the bathroom. While talking to the women doing the sale, I told them that I look for rusty tool treasures and one lady promised to go through her things and bring them the following day. IMG_3838.jpeg
It poured rain on Saturday but we stopped by on our way to the Post Office. Much to my surprise the seller had set several items aside for me and I bought them all except for a couple of hand saws. IMG_3835.jpegIMG_3834.jpegIMG_3833.jpegIMG_3832.jpegIMG_3831.jpeg
A few additional itemsIMG_3837.jpeg
i wasn’t sure what the clamps were for (maybe holding items being welded?) but I now own two of them. They would be great for cracking open walnuts! IMG_3839.jpegThere was a familiar odor eminating from the garage where the group of senior sellers were waiting out the rain and I’m not sure if that helped or hindered the negotiations but eventually an agreement was reached.

If I remember correctly, 19 county is Vermillion and just south of where I'm at. Don't see too much SoDak stuff on here. Nice finds.

This past weekends pick ups....

Hard to find Craftsman Vanadium ratchet. But the mechanism is not working right. It free spins, then gets stuck, then goes other direction. The push button depresses but doesn't do anything else. I think it broke years ago and the fellow just kept it, hence the nice condition otherwise. I'm tempted to cut the rivets off and take a look inside, but probably won't. The last one I saw a couple years back was in such poor condition I didn't buy it, now I wish I did. lol

20250824_155951.jpg

Husky 1/4 socket set, knurled sockets. Wish case had a logo or stamping.
Snap On Ratchet SL710D
Sk 1/4 ratchet
Craftsman 4 inch adjustable, JH stamped, I'm guessing made by Williams
Wiha Snap Ring and Slotted screwdriver

20250824_160126.jpg

Not my normal pick ups. Griswold cast iron and small oiler for 2 bucks.

I paid $25 for the same set so I gotta say you ****.

The two layers of paint seems to be coming off somewhat willingly. I think this one will find a home in my J10's road box. Nice enough to not be garbage, not nice enough to worry too much about.

I have a weird thing about wanting decent, US made tools in my old US made junk. My CJ road box is an old Park box full of predominantly old Williams stuff. I have another Park I have been saving that may get filled with S-K stuff.

SK is good stuff. Yep, you don't want tools that are worn out but not too nice they they become garage queens that are too nice or valuable to use. The ratchet just give the guts a quick clean and apply a light oil and you will have a nice low back drag ratchet.

Christmas 1967 was delivered today and Santa had keys for all 3 boxes. What surprised me most was the lower box has the (much easier to locate) LL series keys and not the WA series keys that are a ****** to find. The postman delivered an Ebay find (mostly) Craftsman 1/4" drive swivel socket sets with the mag holder/organizers. I'll have to beg ,borrow and steal to find the replacements for the 9/32" (SK) and the 1/4" MAC, and the 7mm Craftsman ( wasn't included in some sets ,but offered loose)

On Sunday, a quick trip to the other side of the village to the local car boot sale produced these.

1/2 x 7/16W Stahlwille Motor DOE. Very nice condition but with owners marks.
5/6 x 9/16 Gray DOE. I can't resist Gray tools but don't see them very often.
7 inch Record pipe wrench. Dirty but looks unused. These small wrenches have a coil spring rather than a flat spring.
Ullman Device USA screw starter. Very nice unmolested condition.
Record G clamp in very nice condition. An exact match for one I already have.
Wilkinsons pliers dated 1937. They look unused which is remarkable for their age.

£3.50 all in from four different sellers. Pretty pleased for a quick 45min visit.

Just the one the find, and its a cracker! Its also strangely another Gray on mine and @Stubby1743 side of the Atlantic, so who over here is finding the third 🤨

This one’s a ‘Gray - Bonney’ 12” adjustable ’Dreadnought’ wrench and set me back £4 ($5.40). It has a lovely heft and it slides like a dream, it’s really a quality bit of kit for something at least 60 years old. I will stick it on the Dreadnought thread too.

This was sitting for a very long time, wish it was a single mantle. I took a chance at $15. Will see if there is any damage to paint as that will hurt value greatly.1000029962.jpg1000029965.jpg1000029967.jpg1000029969.jpg

You ****!

My big spending this weekend.
A local online auction.
A Morse drill index patented 1906. It had a few random bits.
A toolbox that’s kind of beat up, paint peeling, etc. the top tray fits, but the handle has been cut off, so I’m not sure it’s original.
anyone recognize the oval label that was on the cover?
I’ve got a whole $2.00 invested in the lot.
IMG_4619.jpegIMG_4620.jpegIMG_4621.jpegIMG_4622.jpegIMG_4623.jpeg

You **** for the $2 Morse (plus all the rest for free, LOL)!!!

From this past weekend. No great sales this weekend but picked up at here and there sales.

Fluke 77 meter. Guy had no idea if it worked so I fired it up and it did so. Took a flyer for $5 and took it home and cleaned it up including corrosion from the battery. New battery in it and looks like it is going to work but yet to see if it does what it is supposed to, but for the money.........why not.

Blue Point SAE wrenches and a Snap-On pocket screwdriver for $2.

Big spender this past weekend

I’m not sure it’s part of the set. It has no markings and just a small ball bearing at the top.
That does not look like a 1/4" drive set, but if it IS a 1/4" drive set, the original "BE" cross bar would be 5/32" x 3" (unmarked with detent ball at one end only.)

Snap-on, Blue Point, Proto, Armstrong, MAC, K-D, and Grobet USA $20

Nothing that I really need… just more of what I already have.

Enough to appease the Metal God for another week.

This was more than two hours after the sale opened. Having a bright flashlight paid off. I found what the usual suspects missed in the shadows.

I hit a very rare Thursday Estate sale today. not crowded with lines for once!

Only spent $8 total and I think 4-5 of that was the cushion:

two more aluminum colanders with patterned holes for making lantern shades - the Star one is bigger and heavier gauge than the one I got a few weeks back, and has both handles intact.

E1-Collander-1.jpg

The second has no handles and only bumps for "legs" but I think I like it better as a lantern shade, maybe a bit shallow.:

E1-Collander-2.jpg

1-1/4 Lbs of 4" square nails - I can't recall seeing them this long. I found the baggie first then some loose elsewhere in the garage and combined them. Then assorted sizes of copper split rivets.:

E2-Square-nails-copper-rivets.jpg

Smaller enamelware double boiler in pretty fair shape - good size for camping - I'm guessing 30's? but need to research.

E3-Double-Boiler.jpg

And last but not least, the 16" square elk embroidered cushion/ I bough ti for the embroidered pattern but will likely un-stuff it, gently wash, and then re-stuff with something more suitable as a seat cushion pad, as this should fit the folding wood chair I just finished re-gluing and coating with gloss deft.

You guys are having a great summer. I visited a local estate sale and picked up the following for $8. Not shown are a half dozen straight shank ground jigsaw blades. I also got 3 random pieces of 3/4 birch plywood for $1 each and the Mrs got a like new Laura Ashley king size cotton blanket for $2. Total was $13 for the day.

Craftsman locking bit holder/handle with extension and 1 bit, Craftsman quick attach flip collet holder with countersink bit, hex extension with drywall countersink bit, Lectrolite 3/8x7/16 dbe and most of an SK 3/8 drive metric shallow 12 point socket set with rack, only missing the 8 and 13mm. Found the rack, then sorted through drawers to find the sockets.

Yesterday, Wednesday, I had to be in the city to the south for a Dr's appointment, so, with a few minutes to kill, I hit the Restore. I have normally banned myself from these shops, as I would tend to drag home way too much ****, but as it was a special occasion, I figured why not. And why not indeed, as I did find a few things to add to my collection:
54751237101_41f7379f6d_b.jpg
A homemade extension with Hinsdale socket, Armstrong ratcheting drill, and the find of the day, an early pair of large Ideal 310 loading tongs in steel! This are early, as the changed to aluminum later on, and are in very good condition considering. A nice midweek score.

Online local auction ($1): Disston skewback crosscut saw w/ D8 handle (1878-1888):

A curious Disston. Can't identify the pattern. No discernible etch or tpi mark. Maybe a ships saw. Never seen a blade that didn't have teeth the entire length. A nice feature that I've never noticed before was that there is a slight groove where the thumb wraps around the handle, and on the other side a similar groove for the pointer finger.

Oh that is neat.

The handle looks like a D-8 (ETA: as you said) (or 120, but I think those usually had carving on the handle) - is the groove at all like the second picture here? But not even the Disstonian has pictures of a blade like that; even the ship saw blades come down much lower than the handle.

Guessing it was ground down by a user, either for custom use or to fix a broken blade.

ETA: sweet Lord I managed to completely miss the first line of your post, I am declaaring it the weekend.

Also, you ****.

Nothing too crazy tool-wise lately. I’m trying to narrow my focus a bit.

There was a. Estate sale a block away this morning I somehow wasn’t aware of, and I happen to be off work today.

Found an 8 and 10 inch Diamond Adjustable for $1 each.
IMG_0964.jpeg

I already had a 10, but the 8 filled my only hole from 4-15 inch.
IMG_0963.jpeg

I think the only two sizes left are an 18 and a 24, and of course the double ended adjustables.

They are going to be hard to find, and probably expensive. There was a 24 on Facebook a year or so ago for $50, and I am kicking myself for not getting it.

In the meantime I am going to try and find Duluth marked replacements of the ones I have that aren’t.

IMO, you have identified the pattern. Date range, too. It’s a D8 that has been resharpened so many times, it’s almost unrecognizeable. If rust and rust removal had left anything of the original etch, the lower half would probably be missing. Not a ships saw when new, but maybe the user did use it as such toward the end. No teeth at the heel because the handle would prevent them coming into contact with anything to be cut.

Saw a similar well loved one at our PAST sale last weekend.

See it here, blue blade protector on it in the foreground. Think it was still there when I left

Pretty lame around here for the Labor Day weekend. I hit two sales, one not even worth getting out of the rig, the other a regular sale by a guy who cleans out abandoned storage units:

54753225194_7f2d08e747_o.jpg

I realized that I didn't have a short (4") 1/2" extension. Hole filled. The Walden u-joint was already on it, so I grabbed that too. $1

But, you ask, what's in the belt sheath?

54753225199_945def48ea_o.jpg

Camillus #3 lockback--obviously, Camillus' answer to the Buck 110. 7" OAL, 3" blade.

Usually, the blade would be engraved with "Sword Brand Hand Made" with two crossed swords.

Not this one:

54753034971_8f074ff778_o.jpg

Maybe someone can make that out. Best I can guess is Jim something something.

These seem to bring around $30-50 in good condition, so not a great score, but a nice user. The blade is in pretty good shape and will sharpen nicely.

Here are a few tools I picked up at a small GS:

The Erie Tool Works Stillson pipe wrench (only 7” length, although marked “8”)
Barcalo Buffalo 8 1/2" linesman pliers with great knurling
Kraeuter U.S.A. #2801-7 linesman pliers; marked Nickel Dreadnaught Steel with great knurling
Snap-on F-161 1/2" socket
two Indestro Super Chrome Alloy Steel Slot Screwdrivers
4" wooden screw wood hand clamp (smallest I have seen)
perfect-handle square shank screwdriver (looks like a Tobrin)
E.C. Stearns & Co. cast iron 3/8" x 9/16" multi-wrench (used for woodworking machinery?)
wood handle 10 1/2" slotted screwdriver with holding sleeve (only marking is a “PAT PENDING”). Any ideas? It has a unique handle design that Google Lens has not been able to identify.
