Was just at Sears; the cats out of the bag.... special pricing already on many items (first number of pages, shows recommendations for holiday gifts). There is a big emphases on: 3rd party tools (wow, they have "titan" stuff now!:lol_hitti), "universal" family craftsman sets, new ratchets, open end ratcheting wrenches, dogbone, insert on Hitachi power tools and enhanced marketing with "blue tool crew", using "real people" to say how great the tools are (ooh, they are "reality checked").... check it out www.sears.com/shoptools/
The cat is as big if not bigger then the normal tool cat; seems they are definitely pushing the marketing on the tools, heavier then in the past.

I received the catalog in the mail a few weeks ago. Pretty sad really compered to even last year's. They had a Wera Koloss (ratchet hammer) in there which was kind of random.

I think the best deal is if you buy a 58" Mahew Dominator prybar you can get one free.

I especially like the tool reviews by the retards (no offense to the mentally challenged people). I know when I want to know if a tool is durable and worthy of purchase, i consult a guy with a mullet and a lady who is using her tools for "green" jobs. Pretty sad when those half wits make Bob Villa look impressive. Way to go Sears, you never cease to amaze me on your race to the bottom.

I was in Sears yesterday buying some things and the salesman said they were already setting up display partitions in the tool department . . . for Black Friday that is almost a month away. He said they were planning a big one this year.

the 36" montezuma Cross Over for $900 is a pretty good deal if you wanted that setup.

I think that they combined the holiday catalog with the new year catalog.

Looks pretty good, but I was hoping for more new tools.

I thought the Cman club at Sears was defunct. Replaced by the "rewards program" or something... tried using my car a while back and they said, "No, here is a new card... good for special pricing on anything in the store," or something.

I have had the catalog for several weeks now as well.

Pretty much the same as the spring/summer one. A few different pages.

I did however have one of my bi-weekly visits to Sears yesterday and saw the area being set up for black friday. It is double the size from last year at this particular location.

I have seen the black friday add and I'm not impressed so far. I'm hoping it will change for the better. black friday add here- http://www.black-friday.net/

Anyone have one of those Lit-Ion Hammers? At first glance I thought it was another gimmic tool, but I got thinking it might come in handy working on the old Mustang. Like for rusted bolts and such. Anyways, just throwing that out there and wnodering if anyone has tried one and if it's a POS or not. Also that 4 drawer ball-bearing black toolbox for 100 and change looks like a pretty good deal for general garage storage.

Dunno... I just got my new membership card a few months back. So I KNOW they have my address...

I reviewed one (Ryobi model) and wouldn't really recommend it. I'm much more inclined to give Milwaukee's new model a chance.

The Ryobi/Craftsman/Ridgid type are great for smaller nails, but that's about it.

My local sears already has the red displays up and filled with the holiday merchandise, loaded up with your typical cheaply made, gimmicky tools.

If everything goes as planned(as in I don't have to pay for a proxxon rotary tool...) I'm getting the Schroeder breast drill in that catalog its $64 or so and german made it was like $110 plus shipping last year in a wood working catalog. :)

AND...

It's all gone! All of it!

Went to Sears last night to pick up the cataloge for some bedtime reading, all loose stock USA polished are gone (nope, nada, ziltch), somebody bought the last USA polish combo set, everything is now gearwrench and the china polished, with the exception of the raised panels/sockets/ratchets/screwdrivers. Prices are pretty high on non Cman stuff, and they didn't drop the prices of the China stuff... I thinks I'm done now, especially since I found out my "tool guy" quit over the weekend... gawd. The "Blue Tool Crew" makes me itch.

Wow, just watched the Wera Koloss video; they say this thing can "transfer" 5,000 pounds of torque! What the? :)

Don't knock the Koloss, it's a mean beast of a ratchet. You don't even want to know what I plan to do with it next week. I'll be finishing my review then, and something is bound to break, and I don't think it's gonna be the ratchet!

Don't know what 5000 lbs or torque comes from, though. Link to the video? The only official ones I've seen are in German.

The Wera site say 600Nm which transfers to 442 ft-lbs. My guess it will do 600+. The only way that ratchet could transfer 5000 ft-lbs is in a press using it for a spacer
